The Queue: Universal

I wish someone had told me that Stargate Universe was a good show while it was still on TV.
Nrethal asked:
Will 4.3 add any new hairstyles? Particularly the ones they didn't finish in time for last patch.
None of which we're aware. A shame!
skyydyver03 asked:
Do you have a site you recommend for looking through transmog gear for headgear specifically? I'm trying to find some awesome hats for my rogue to use to make him look more like a true 'rogue', IE swashbuckler--
Wowhead's transmog section is pretty invaluable as a reference.
theamazing asked:
Do we know when, or if, any of the quality of life changes for archaeology will be implemented? It is without a doubt the most frustrating of professions to level.
Commenter Suzaku answered this one pretty well:
Hal asked:A minor one is coming in 4.3. You'll get 5-9 fragments per node instead of 3-6.
They discussed some other possibilities at Blizzcon, including having stuff like mummies randomly spawn, which would drop 50 fragments when killed, or giving players a flare gun that would let you call a helicopter to automatically carry you to the next digsite.
what's the consensus on etiquette when rolling need/greed for lockboxes and BoE greens? Is it a factor if you're leveling an enchanter?
Roll need on something you're going to use right away or that might be a potential upgrade. Roll greed or disenchant (where applicable) on anything else. Those are the rules people seem to follow most of the time.

Stargate Universe is one of my top 10 shows ever, it was the single worst candidate for cancellation, people are stupid.

Jace Hall Show explains why.

IDK, Firefly was really good too, and was a really dumb cancel on fox's part :(

The first season was kinda blah, but it picked up later. Unfortunately it didn't get the ratings it needed to stay on the air. Networks are trying to make money, and if a show doesn't get ratings, it doesn't get the advertising money, which means it doesn't stay on the air. Sci-fi stuff typically has a smaller audience to begin with, so it doesn't take as much of a drop-off in ratings to kill it. That being said, I think they set up SGU to be picked back up if they change their minds.

It was a good show, and it's end was very frustrating, hopefully hell freezes over and they get to wrap it up with a movie. The show had a great sense of cutting edge cinematography, with very novel music that reminded me of Vangelis' Bladerunner soundtrack, and a fresh approach to science fiction and alien life in general.
And they had an episode with a WOW joke in it, though it made little sense. Eli talks about walking all the way to Redridge or Lakeshire with his bags overloaded or something.

I've put SyFy (idiotic just for changing it's name to this) on the same level as Fox, stations with Itchy fingers, that had great shows that were cancelled way too early e.g. Brisco county, fire fly, space above and beyond, brimstone, SGU, and so on, and so forth. Instead we have to watch a million recycled, and convoluted seasons of X files, sitcoms, crime/medical procedural shows.
My time is too precious and I'm too worried to invest in a show thats going to suck me in, and leave me hanging b/c a suit decided not to continue producing it.
Am I part of the problem, for now not wanting to tune in until the 3rd season of a show? probably.
Did the station execs help create this problem? You betcha...
I feel like everytime time I try a new show It's analagous to going on a date, after a bad relationship.
A salute to to the creators who attempted to bring excellence to the screen only to be brought to a grisly, and untimely end...

@ElrithCC
My old guild master did at least some of the music for SGU, so he'll be glad you liked it.

Vangelis Bladerunner would be an awesome Blood Elf name.

I'm hoping that Netflix's revival of Arrested Development will be so successful that shows like SG:U and Firefly can make a comeback in some way. The big downside is that sci fi shows are pretty special effect intensive and cost a lot more money to produce

I also thoroughly enjoyed SGU, especially when it started hitting its stride in the second season. Canceling SGU was one of the stupidest moves SyFy has ever made, exceeding the changing of thier name from SciFi to SyFy!
I knew that the show was to be cancelled when I watched the final episode, but was NOT prepared for a total cliffhanger! Obviously the writers were fully intending to go another season, or they would have never left the devoted fans with so many unresolved issues. There was a plan to do a television movie to wrap up loose ends, but before they could ever get approval & funding for such, the sets were all struck & destroyed. Such a SHAME…!!!
If only someone with a fat bankroll, and some TRUE VISION would come along and secure rights to some of the lost gems of the last few decades, and just start producing new episodes! SGU & Firefly are the two shows that immediately come to mind…
GGGGRRRRRRRRR…!!!!!!!

The biggest problem that I could remember with SGU was its airtimes- Syfy pretty much gave it no chance when he decided to air it at the same time as NCIS. The fault of SGU failing falls squarely on 2 groups- the nimrods at syfy and the Stargate fans who wrote it off too soon.

They'll bring it back in 2 years. By then they will be out of hyperspace and be back on they're amazing adventures in distant galaxies. Seriously. Greatest series finally ever because now Scifi (I will never call them Syfy) has 3 years to realize their mistake and fix it.

Universe was the first SG series to live up to the actual movie. SG-1 was just a copy of ST, Atlantis had good parts, but still lacked, but Universe got it just right: the exploration of the ancient ship and the worlds that became available along its route, the protagonists struggling with failing machines and the social problems that arise in a community isolated against its will.

Honestly, I didn't like SGU as much as other shows. The point was to be focused on relationships, and it bored me to death! I didn't watch battle star galactica until after SGU but I felt like BSG hit the balance of internal and external conflict a little bit better than SGU (which was mostly internal conflicts between crew members). It just felt more like a soap opera in space-Which David Hewlett did have the idea of, but that was supposed to be a comedy.

I just hope that they don't cancel Warehouse 13.
Hoofio Nov 27th 2011 5:50PM
Sorry .. I thought it was terrible... The irritating geek, the not-hard hard guy, the uber gratuitous boob woman .. yeesh
Couldn't stop watching it though as I could never get my head round what Robert Carlyle was doing on it ... strangely mesmerising.
Kole Nov 27th 2011 5:59PM
Gawd I HATED SG:U...it was terrible!! I watched, in one long marathon, all of SG:1 (friggin' LOVED it) then SG:A (was OK, Rodney must DIE!) and then tried to watch Universe and couldn't get through the first season I hated it so much. Sad really...
Don't get me started on stupid cancellations!! Firefly, Farscape, Eureka.......

I didn't watch SGU, but I sympathize, for "Caprica" was mistreated the same way by SyFy, before being unceremoniously and quietly canceled. It especially hurt in the season/series finale's preview of the next season that showed how much would be connected to Battlestar Galactica. It was done so well that one would think it was an intentional series finale epilogue. At any rate, the cancellation hurt. I'm finally watching BSG for the first time on BBC America, and having seen Caprica makes all the little references to the pre-Cylon past all the more stronger.
So yeah, I'm with you, SGU-ers. Both our shows were schedule-shuffled and canceled by SyFy in the same year.

Stargate Universe was a blight on the Stargate name, second only to infinity. It was BSG meets SG-1, only it missed the parts that made both those shows great, and ended up being incredibly lackluster.
