Breakfast Topic: Which storyline do you want more of?

WoW has so many ongoing storylines that it's hard to keep track of them all. Occasionally, they blend and merge, and sometimes they simply drift off without any sort of resolution. Sometimes we can get all caught up in the story and then abruptly it's gone. Sometimes storylines are resolved in books and unless you make a point of reading the novels or the comics you have no way of knowing what eventually happened, unless you can find some random NPC who will drop hints.
I've never managed to pull off Loremaster, so I've missed the ends of lots of storylines. I do always perk up a bit when I hear bits about the Old Gods. This particular storyline is fascinating to me, and it always just seems to show up in hints and winks, with occasionally an Old God turning up as a big boss. I know I would like to see more happening with these guys, like the sneaky little voice that show up sometimes with archaeology.
What about you? Are there any stories that petered out that you want to hear the end of? Do you like catching the beginning of the story and filling in the blanks in the Caverns of Time? Do you hope other old stories get revived?

Any story that begins with something along the lines of:
"Suddenly Death Wing was hit by a truck. The people rejoiced. Pandaria was discovered and then..."
DeathPaladin Nov 28th 2011 9:23AM
Garrosh Hellscream: I have to go now. My planet needs me.
(Garrosh died on the way back to his home planet)

And the Pandarians rejoiced.

I would have loved to see more of the Emerald Dream story arch in game. I hated how they finished off that story in a book. I still have pretty much no idea what happened in there. I guess I could read the books but meh; I like the story of my videogames to be told inside my videogames.

I'd really like to know what's going on with Koltira and Thassaurian. As a player death knight, I've always loved these two icons of the class, and the events in WPL left me very worried for both of them.
Swifteye Nov 28th 2011 11:56AM
This, very much this.
My main is (RP-wise) a conflicted Forsaken DK who hates Sylvanas' guts and adores Koltira, Thassarian and Darion Mograine.
The most recent events in WPL left her aghast, sickened, and clamoring even harder than she had been for Sylvanas' head on a platter.
So many storylines unresolved, so many question marks, and yet if we could only have an opportunity to see what happened to Koltira post-brainwash attempt (and hopefully get a chance to rescue him, just like we did long ago in our starting area), I would be fully content.

That one's easy, think 'Brokeback Mountain', but dead.

the Lichking , ever since i saw WC3:TFT ending with "Now, we are One!"
but in Wotlk all we dealt with was arthas this and arthas that with no indication of Ner'zhul
still i hope he plays bigger role with Bolvar
Brevalaer Nov 28th 2011 8:33AM
I fear this is not going to happen: Arthas digested Ner'zhul completely. He exists no longer.
As for the question, I want to see more of the Worgen story. Being shuffled off to a tree in the middle of nowhere and forgotten is not nice at all.
You know what'd be swell? Seeing Anuin Wrynn marry Tess Greymane. She's human (Genn managed to keep her away from the curse), and what a moralse boost for the Alliance it would be. Well, for Gilnean patriots, anyway.
Hobstadt Nov 29th 2011 9:07PM
Noes! Not Tess! Lorna is much cooler! ;-)

The Retaking of Gnomeregan.

I'd also love to see more of:
Joanna Blueheart, the stand-out Alliance NPC from Swamp of Sorrows.
Thassarian and Koltira. It was just a really awkwardly handled ending of the chain.
The Council of Three Hammers. If you didn't read the books, you have no idea how they formed, or what they're doing, and only the slightest hint that Magni is a rock in the basement, if you do Orphan's Week quests.
I'd love to see in-game representation of the Remembrance Day story that was done for Varian on the official website. That was an awesome story.
I'd love to see SOME sort of Alliance acknowledgement of the Southshore terror attacks/obliteration.
Alliance-side exploration of the Gilnean Liberation movement that is seen facing Sylvanas in the Horde-side quests.
Some more satisfying resolution to the Alliance's Twilight Highlands quests. After the wedding, we didn't get any sort of "The Wildhammers have joined the Alliance! Here's them being badass terrors of the skies!" It was more, "Meh, alright, now start grinding these dailies for starter raid gear."
Boss Mida and/or Gallywix. Mida's the faction leader the goblins would like to have. Gallywix is what they've got. Except they don't, because where is he? And why no explanation? He's got a whole pleasure palace, but no sign of him, and nothing involving the place exists in-game. (As an Alliance player, I'm more than happy to have it largely abandoned, however. It's a great little RP spot.)
Night elf wimmens. They're supposedly the strength of their race, and were absolutely awesome in WC3. Now they stand around Astranaar trying not to burn to death, and Tyrande does nothing but occasionally follow around her husband, who is likely more of a "world" hero a la Thrall, now.
Transit Nov 28th 2011 8:50AM
That would mean getting rid of the instance, which I doubt will happen.
Pryn Nov 28th 2011 8:59AM
@ Matt
That's not a bad list at all. If I could see even a portion of those stories developing I might feel a little less heavy hearted about my alliance characters. It is quite difficult to continue RPing a characters development when things that really MATTER to her just seem to fizzle out in both lore and ingame, and its really hard to keep going and have confidence in choices and decisions, when operating in a vaccum.
MattKrotzer Nov 28th 2011 9:14AM
@Transit: You could always leave it there as an "unclaimed" or "irradiated" zone. Look at Ragefire Chasm. It's been in the middle of Orgrimmar all this time, and still full of baddies.
Nina Katarina Nov 28th 2011 9:20AM
The excuse for not liberating Gnomeregan is always that they'd have to get rid of the dungeon. That's nonsense.
Gnomeregan the existing dungeon could be moved to an offshoot of the Caverns of Time, and the space it used to encompass thus becomes free for roleplaying and acting as the gnomish capital. Chromie can stand in front of a portal to the instance, in the normal Gnomeregan, offering a dungeon quest.
Or you could have a gnomish time machine inventor dude give you a quest to test his invention, but it shorts out and takes you to Gnomeregan-past, where you liberate the city in order to get the part to take you back to the present.
There, fixed.
Prelimar Nov 28th 2011 9:58AM
@ Transit: maybe not, with phasing.
Saikoujin Nov 28th 2011 10:28AM
I'd also love to see some more time given to Joanna Blueheart. I had a great impression of her after Swamp of Sorrows. She's a badass b*tch who takes no prisoners and eats Horde for breakfast (for Alliance, that's really quite amazing and a breath of fresh air). With players' current outcry toward the Alliance's weak and submissive stance to the Horde, the upcoming focus on war between the two factions would be the perfect time to spotlight her.
Noyou Nov 28th 2011 12:24PM
Gnomer is one of my favorite instances (I know, I have odd tastes) but I would gladly sacrifice it for the Gnomes to get their city back. The other thing is, you could rework the structure of the upper part and still keep the instance. Or you could put a new portal in, to maybe even a whole new dungeon. Kind of like, "Hey we cleaned it up and found this cave..." since Gnomes like to explore things, you never know. It could lead to a whole new dimension. Who knows. Maybe they could make Gnomer a CoT throwback thing.
taokore Nov 28th 2011 2:39PM
I'm not a huge Gnome fan, but yes, this needs to happen. They can only be bunk mates with the Dwarves for so long.
