Breakfast Topic: Which storyline do you want more of?

WoW has so many ongoing storylines that it's hard to keep track of them all. Occasionally, they blend and merge, and sometimes they simply drift off without any sort of resolution. Sometimes we can get all caught up in the story and then abruptly it's gone. Sometimes storylines are resolved in books and unless you make a point of reading the novels or the comics you have no way of knowing what eventually happened, unless you can find some random NPC who will drop hints.
I've never managed to pull off Loremaster, so I've missed the ends of lots of storylines. I do always perk up a bit when I hear bits about the Old Gods. This particular storyline is fascinating to me, and it always just seems to show up in hints and winks, with occasionally an Old God turning up as a big boss. I know I would like to see more happening with these guys, like the sneaky little voice that show up sometimes with archaeology.
What about you? Are there any stories that petered out that you want to hear the end of? Do you like catching the beginning of the story and filling in the blanks in the Caverns of Time? Do you hope other old stories get revived?

Stories I am concerned about.....
1. Magatha grim totem is obviously working on something and the twilight hammer tried to stop her but question is what was it.
2. The scarlet onslaught was defeated at icecrown and malganis was exposed. The question now is what is malganis up to now that he no longer has the scarlet crusade under his control.
3. Sullah claimed he was beginning on some kind of amazing place that was gonna be situated in uldum. The catch 22 is he is also trying to domesticate the pygmie but for what? slave labor? hmmm
4. The vykrul seem to have a larger setup in azeroth than what has been previously suggested. They dominate northrend and they have a settlement under the ocean just in the backyard of stormwind. Where else are the vykrul hiding and just how vast is their holdings?
5. The gates to the emerald dream are now barely protected any more. Where once they were protected heavily and impossible to get near; they are now abandoned or those remaining are weakened. Is something trying corrupt these gates and if so who is responcible?

Don't confuse the Kal'vir with the Vrykul.

*tears*
As I... as I purify... *sob* these *sob* WATERS!
NEPTULON, I HAVE COME BACK FOR YOU!
Neptulon? Neptulon!? Wherefore art thou, Neptulon? Deny thy captor and refuse its will; or if thou wilt not, be but deus-ex-machina'd, my Lord, and I'll no longer be salt in thy pure waters.
*excessive sobbing*

More Anduin! Even though the quality of the Varian Wrynn short story can be discussed ad infinitum, he's really picked up some strength after his stay with the Draenei. Smart, diplomatic, AND strong? Yes please.
Also, more Moira. Easily the Alliance leader with the most pure guile. Can't believe she'd be content to just keep pitching the dwarves against each other when she could be pitching the Horde against each other instead.
And an actual continuation to the Wrathgate. Since the battle for Undercity isn't in the game anymore, you witness the massive atrocity and... nothing.
Also, Thassarian? Easily the coolest dude on the block, where'd he go, what's he up to?
Also, wouldn't Humans finding out they're Vrykul descendants actually... y'know, matter? Or Gnomes knowing they're computers? Did Brann ship home anything *else* from Ulduar that *didn't* turn his brother to stone? Is he working on a cure? Is he going to come home to IF and say Hi to his niece?
What about the situation at Sentinel Hill? The place where we *leave* the zone is usually the state we *arrive* to.

With the Horde in almost complete control of the continent of Kalimdor and having taken over the northern half of the Eastern Kingdoms (a misnomer now), the triumph of of Garrosh Hellscream turns to utter disaster with the defection of Sylvanus and the Undead from the Horde, and the refusal of the Tauren and Trolls to put up with the misleadership of Garrosh. The Blood Elves laugh at egocentric ethnocentrism of the Orcs. The Goblins make a fortune playing of one side against the other.
Thrall to the rescue?

I would like to see Asric and Jadaar just make out already.
... what?

there are so many loose ends I don't know where to begin. WoW is full of all kinds of cliffhangers. What the heck have the Dranaei been up to? Velan get your act together! Where is Kil'jaeden? Are the Scryers back in Quel'danas? Why hasn't Brann told any leaders what has been going on since Ulduar? And what are the titan watchers in Ulduar doing now? cooking marshmallows for eternity? If Bolvar is the new Lich King, why are we being attacked by the undead still? (thanks a lot, "friend"). Did the dwarves gain access back to Grim Batol? Will the death of Al'Akir and Ragnaros bring a chaotic turn for the elements? Nobody is controlling them anymore! Where did Ozumat kidnap Neptulon to?? How many more trolls have to die before we can declare them officially genocided? Will Magni Bronzebeard ever get unfrozen? What of the Grimtotem tribe and their connection to the forsaken? I could go on and on!

For an expansion that was supposed to be about the earth being rended apart...I'm still sort of mind-boggled that outside of a few leveling zones, we didn't get more active involvement from the Earthen Ring...outside of Orc Jesus. (I assume their story got completely scrapped with Neptulon's. Sigh.) and honestly, that the Deathwing fight turned into MORE Night Elf lore / history instead of offering us an Ashen Verdict like fashion...I'm just not sure. :(
That the Ring wasn't present in Hyjal, scolding those damn druids for disrespecting the elemental spirits by trying to BE them rather than negotiate or work with them... Grrrr! (It's something my shaman is still sort of tweaked and confused about.)

I'd be happy if I finally got to know in game what all that Incendicite Ore I and others hauled to Steelgrip's was used for.

The Draenei. Yes, yes - we have a whole expansion about them. But they still seem to be lying in a large ambiguous pool of "We're super-holy nice guys who will occasionally kick some butt when provoked". I would like some more development (back story). Where did they come from and what were they doing *before* KJ and Archimonde met Sargeras and decided not to be bff's with Velen anymore? And what are the Draenei really doing today besides hanging out in the Exodar doing holy stuffs?
I would also love some more of the Vrykul. They are one of the coolest races in WoW and deserve to be given a bit more light. I wouldn't mind if the expansion after MoP just let me play a Horde Vrykul! :P
Also: Gilneas, Magni, Bolvar and Gnomeregan (in that order).

I have yet to see somebody say anything about Gul'Dan! As a warlock player since BC (and didnt hit 70 until the very end so the lore and stuff didnt really get to me as I was new) I would love to see more of him.
shirtntie Nov 28th 2011 4:08PM
Thanks Amelia Ramstead for using the picture you did reminding us about the Neptulon debacle. May we as the playerbase never allow such a thing to happen again, for a story that covered an entire zone and dungeon be scrapped without so much as an explanation.
Anyways to answer your question i agree with alot of the wonderful suggestions here. My two favorite are
1. Boss Mida/Gallywax
2. Gnomeregan
More than anything i would like to see some closure for Gnomeregan. It is frustrating that the gnomes have not taken it back. At all. I am not even Alliance and it frustrates me.

Neruuuuuuuubiiiiiiaaaaaaaaaannnnn!
I would sell a kidney to be able to play Nerubians. Plus, they are all over the lore, it would be so easy to build them in, imho.

First of all, when Thrall returns to the Horde officially, can we please never see him again on the Alliance side? And that goes for the other Horde leaders too.
Seriously? I play both sides, and I wanna see what is happening on the side I currently play, not what Garrosh or Sylvanas is doing when I play Alliance.
Having said that... on Horde side, I want a new Goblin leader, either Megs Dreadshredder, Sassy Hardwrench or Her Tallness would be fine, since we can always use more female active leaders, unlike the ones on the Alliance side, that are supposedly badass and yet does nothing. *cough* (Although I can understand why there may be issues with Tyrande tbh. She one-shots ancient dragons with her spells, she heals everything everytime, she is equal to the Wildrunner sisters with a bow, and she could likely give Garona or Varian an even fight with a melee weapon. I think she, maybe, is too good to use in a good way, since she would shadow any other mortal hero with her uberness.)
Also, more Blood Elf stories. It's been far too long. I wanna know where they are headed. Nothing much has happened with them since 2008, while every other Horde race has been through stuff.
And then the Alliance...
I think the best the Alliance can hope for is more stories for the Alliance races that Blizzard seems to still have interest in developing, story-wise, in-game.
Namely Humans, Dwarves and Night Elves. Any of which would be fine to me.
I suspect the Human story will be more and more depressive as they are losing or being driven out of or exterminated in one Kingdom after another. Since we know from Dave Kosak that things will get worse for the Alliance, a lot worse, I'd like to see Stormwind full of sick and wounded refugees from all the other human nations that the Horde has ravaged/will ravage. Oh and since Stormwind is incapable of controlling Westfall, i want starvation too. And a lot of defiatism vs. the Horde from the common people. A feeling of unavoidable doom and major depression. Because the way things are going and is gonna go, particulary vs. the Horde, I don't see much future for Mankind in WoW.
The Night Elves story should at least on some point involve the killing of lots of Orcs. Nothing crucial or decisive, but a wholesale slaughter of a few hundred Orc Warriors would be nice just to show the Orcs that they can, actually, PAY WITH THEIR LIVES for advancing further into Ashenvale. The "We are the Horde, we are so awesome, look how we can take whatever we want just by charging blindly forward and yelling" attitude that every Orc NPC and his/her brother have is starting to annoy me. ;-) And yes, it has to be Orcs that dies. Not other Hordies. I am getting tired of the Orcs being portraited as stronger and mightier in battle than everyone else. That the Orcs THINK that they are should be a perfect opportunity storywise to have them lured into a Night Elf trap and butchered, with other Horde races that tried to warn them watching from afar. Anyway, the Night Elf story has to be about fighting the Horde, since, you know, they are close to losing their homeland. Maybe also about the Horde destroying Teldrassil and the Night Elves relocating somewhere else, for example Feathermoon Isle. Or Azuremyst Isle. It has plenty of room for them. And it's not like anyone visits Darnassus anymore, anyway.
And for the Dwarves, I wanna see how the integration of three nations into one plays out. That's about it, but that is a lot.
The rest of the Alliance races... I don't see much there at all.
The Gnomes phailed at taking Gnomeregan back, they are by FAR the most hated and despised race in the game, by players on BOTH sides, and, you know, Blizzard have never paid much attention to them at all. Goblins have gotten more story in a single expansion than gnomes have gotten in four. Also, the Goblin 1- 10 experience is an awesome demonstration of how the Goblin society works. The Gnome 1-10 experience is "We have machines. Also, we help the dwarves."
The Worgen/Gilnean story is essentialy over. They lost the homeland. They took it back (at least if you play Horde). And now it's a Battleground. No changes there. Ever.
The Draenei story ended at lvl 21. They have found a safe home on Azeroth, are part of the Alliance and have established themselves and secured the Misty Isles against the Satyrs, Naga and Burning Legion Blood Elves that attacked them. So unlike other Alliance stories, this one have actually come to a closure. Move along, people, nothing to see here.
Apart from the Alliance/Horde stories, can we have Dark Riders from Deadwind Pass? Please?
Oh and Vrykul as a playable race in 6.0? Pretty Please?

People people. A little insight.
Cataclysm has been a huge story update. The intention was not to wrap those all up into a neat little package, but to leave options open for future content to pick them up again.
So if Metzen doesn't want to comment on Neptulon's predicament, there's a very high chance we'll see him in MoP or later.
