The launch of
patch 4.3 has been smooth overall, but there's one major exception: The Dungeon Finder has developed a case of narcolepsy. If you've been in the queue for any of the new Hour of Twilight dungeons tonight, chances are good you've noticed the system suffering from crashes with extreme frequency.
Good news: There's a fix in the works, and we're likely to see it tonight. Cross your fingers.

Bashiok - LFD Tool Down?
There's a known issue causing the LFG servers to crash, which is kicking people out of queue. A hotfix is already in production and we expect will be implemented this evening.
There's also an issue that's causing long queue times, and again a hotfix is in progress.
Brace yourselves for what could be some of most exciting updates to the game recently with patch 4.3. Review the official patch notes, and then dig into what's ahead: new item storage options, cross-realm raiding, cosmetic armor skinning and your chance to battle the mighty Deathwing -- from astride his back!

I just got an upgrade for my main, purchased by AH alt, soulbound to said AH alt upon removing it from the mail. Apparently this is on "the list". Buyer beware!
Arrohon Nov 29th 2011 8:02PM
Any word on the armory? It's showing that I have empty slots where I upgraded gear (that was an AWESOME End Time run). http://us.battle.net/wow/en/character/silver-hand/Yanseb/simple to show you what I mean.

Yeah, that 50 minute queue was fantastic!
Spider Nov 29th 2011 8:42PM
I had a 30 minute when when our group queued with a Tank and Healer, it was ridiculous.
Dankie Nov 29th 2011 11:37PM
My group was a Tank, Healer and 2 dps.... we decided to call it a night 5 minutes in to our "1H 15M" queue time.
SamLowry Nov 30th 2011 1:23AM
Both me and my brother, playing separately, sat through 1 hour queues.

if you are in the dungeon finder on patch day, well, you get what you get. There is a long history of instance failures and BG issues on patch day. Its like complaining that your addons dont work on patch day.
K.B. Nov 29th 2011 8:47PM
Yeah, I gave up. I will try again tomorrow.

Patch day is patch day.

I'll just leave this right here...

Gosh, problems on patch day? Inconceivable!
Caylynn Nov 29th 2011 9:26PM
I don't think that means what you think it does! ;)

Alright, smartasses, then I suppose we're all getting a day credited to our account since everyone knows that the game is basically unplayable on patch day? Or are they just directly stealing from us?
I understand that it's unreasonable to expect everything to run perfectly smoothly on patch day, but I was looking forward to running these new five mans for *weeks*. I made a guild event and harangued people into signing up. I had an awful day at work all day, but the saving grace was the awesome dungeon runs I had to look forward to tonight, all of us going in blind and laughing and wiping and learning new fight mechanics... Since we can't field enough people for a 10-man raid, this is the first new content my guild has gotten since 4.1, and none of us have enjoyed the Zul'roics, even from day one.
Well, check it out! I still don't get to run the new heroics! All those people I talked into clearing their Tuesday night are adults with kids and work and responsibilities. If I am very lucky, they will have time to run them with me again on Saturday, assuming a meteorite doesn't strike my house and kill me first.
I was so excited for patch 4.3, but then half of my gear is - SURPRISE! - not usable for transmogrification without warning and I can't even run the new five mans. Shit, I guess I'm going to bed early tonight.

For the record, the premise that "patch day is patch day" shouldn't be taken lying down is one I agree with.
I agree with your idea, though not to the vehemence you have stated it, and you have, albeit angrily, stated your case quite well, IMO.
Amaxe Nov 29th 2011 11:02PM
Don't get me wrong here.
To me, "Patch day is patch day" takes on the same meaning as SNAFU or FUBAR, not making an excuse for Blizz. It's more like, "They screwed up... again... /facepalm"
Azzure Nov 29th 2011 11:26PM
Not to sound mean but, why did you make such a huge ordeal and get together on patch day? Anytime there is lots of content released there are crashes and bugs. I don't mean exclusively Blizzard or WoW. There are always things to be ironed out in the first couple days.
Plus you set yourself up for more frustration by asking other people to clear schedules. And set such high expectations on a day that is not going to go smoothly.
Shrikesnest Nov 29th 2011 11:57PM
It's the only day all of us had remotely free this week. I play in a guild full of busy parents and working adults, not bored college students. Even the younger members have social and family obligations most nights.
That's irrelevant, though. I understand that I spend a lot of money on my car, and sometimes it breaks down or doesn't work properly, but that's life. I don't, however, pay for my car by the day. If I pay for something by the day and it doesn't work for a day, I shouldn't be charged for a day. I know, I know, I could go level alts and see what my shaman's new lightning bolt looks like, and I assure you that I'm very excited about it - but that's not what's on the box. I love Blizzard. They make the best video games on the market and treat their customers better than anybody else. But that's no excuse for bullshit. If anything, I expect even more from them.
raingod Nov 30th 2011 12:26AM
Wow, just wow. How many patches have you been around for? 4.2 and 4.3 were the smoothest releases of any patches I can remember in my 4 years of playing. There were times when you couldn't even log into the game for a day or more; and you're complaining about one small part of a larger whole not working? Or not working as intended? Asking for a group in trade/general was never a thought?
When there were really bad problems Blizzard has given free play time, I can think of three or four times off the top of my head, this however, just reeks of entitlement, this is not worthy of compensation.
And unless you live in Asia, WoW has a monthly subscription fee, not daily; by your logic we could break down our monthly car payment into a daily figure and not pay that for the time our car was being repaired.
PTR's as far as they go can only work so well. When only a fraction of 10,000,000 test and an even smaller percentage report bugs or issues, you can't expect everything to work 100%. This is software, and an MMO, it's not going to be perfect. We all have busy schedules (well most of the people I know) but I also know not to expect to be able to do much of what I want on patch release day; not because it's Blizzard, but it's the nature of the beast. Less QQing and more acknowledgement of what they were able to get going without a problem. Put on your big boy pants and pretend to be the mature individual you are.
Shrikesnest Nov 30th 2011 1:38AM
For the record, I don't *actually* expect to get compensated or refunded, nor do I think it's really in order. What would it be, like fifty cents? I'm not upset about the money. And I understand that everything can't work all the time. I'm just having a monumentally bad day, and this is really the cherry on top.
Still, the attitude that, "You think this is bad? Man, a few patch days ago they *really* screwed us!" is pretty hilarious. If I go to the movies and the guy in the projector booth drops the reel, and I turn to my groaning friends and say, "Hey, man, last time I went here they lost sound for like five minutes. This is awesome by comparison!" what kind of impression do you think my friends are going to get of that theater? That it's a high quality establishment?
Again, Blizzard is awesome. Love their work. But they're capable of pretty comprehensibly dropping the ball, too.
raingod Nov 30th 2011 1:59AM
No, my point was they've improved immensely; I don't see them as having dropped the ball especially considering they already have a patch in the works to come out tonight. People just expect too damn much sometimes, and can't see the forest through the trees.
Is it disappointing? Sure, but so was having to wait in queue to even get logged in when Wrath came out. I mean an hour wait just to get in the game. Blizzard does a lot of things better than anyone, and its always the hiccups that people remember.
And FWIW, I kept getting dc'ed in one of the new dungeons and couldn't complete it, and yeah that annoyed me, but it's also not like I won't be able to do it again...and again...and again...
