The Queue: Patch 4.3 FAQ

Today The Queue will focus on patch 4.3 questions that we've seen asked time and time again -- and for good reason, too. This is a huge content patch, and there are lots of different aspects of it that people are confused about.
Read on for a bunch of patch 4.3's most frequently asked questions!
And, um ... math. Because that seems to be a popular thing around here lately. (I have no idea why.)
Many of you asked:
What are the requirements for the new patch 4.3 5-man dungeons?
You have to be level 85, and on the PTR there was an item level requirement of 353. We assume that's holding true to the live servers.
Many of you asked:
When does patch 4.3 come out?
Today.
Many of you asked:
How do we get to Darkmoon Faire Island?
Portals will be up in the old locations in Mulgore and Elwynn Forest. NPCs will be announcing the Faire in the capital cities.
Many of you asked:
How do I get to the Dragon Soul raid?
The entrance to the Dragon Soul raid is in the Caverns of Time.
Many of you asked:
How do I get to the new 5-man instances?
The random Dungeon Finder is your friend. Remember, you don't have to discover the instance to queue for it anymore. (That was a short-lived feature of Cataclysm; it got removed in an earlier patch.) If you have to hit up the actual entrance, you can find it in the Caverns of Time.
Many of you asked:
Does Deathwing die?
Yes.
Sednsa asked:
Is it true that Chaos Orbs are going to become unbound?
Yes, you can trade Chaos Orbs in patch 4.3.
David asked:
Is there any way to discern Raid Finder raid experience from normal mode raid experience? I seem to remember some talk about the Raid Finder not giving the same achievements, but I haven't heard anything definitive on the subject.
The Raid Finder will not give out achievements, so if they're missing, you'll know right away that the person hasn't done normal or heroic modes, only Raid Finder modes.
Steve asked:
Do the stats on a transmog weapon have to be the same as the actual weapon?
No. If you can equip the weapon, then you can transmogrify other weapons to look like it. That means warriors can transmog their weapons to look like spell swords, even though they don't have any use for spell swords.
Will asked:
Two trains leave the station at the same time, one heading west and the other east. The westbound train travels 20 miles per hour slower than the eastbound train. If the two trains are 900 miles apart after 5 hours, what is the rate of the westbound train?
If the trains are traveling at the same speed and are 900 miles apart after 5 hours, they'd each be traveling at 90 miles per hour. If the eastbound train increases its speed 10 miles per hour and the westbound train decreases its speed 10 miles per hour, then the eastbound train would be traveling at 100 miles per hour, while the westbound train would be traveling 20 miles per hour slower at 80 miles per hour.

Do you still get locked to heroics if you run them outside the dungeon finder? Like, if we want to run the new five mans as a guild tonight, but some impatient people run them this afternoon, will those people be unable to queue specifically for the new 5-mans due to 24 hour lockouts?
Ace Nov 29th 2011 11:08AM
Yes, they will have a lockout.
However, the 3 new 5 mans have their own random dungeon finder, like the troll heroics did starting with 4.1
So while you won't be able to queue specifically for one particular dungeon (if they are locked), they will be able to queue with you for a random 4.3 dungeon, and you will be assured to get one of the 3 new ones.

I haven't heard otherwise for these new dungeons, but this is the way it was for Za/ZG and the other cata heroics, so I would assume the lock out system in place will remain the same.
In so far as, doing the dungeon AT ALL, be it through random dungeon finder or specifically queueing, you will then be saved to it.
However, you will still be able to do the dungeon again within that same 24hr lockout if you are queueing for RANDOM dungeons.
Long story short, if you want to do this with your buddies, do not let them do them randomly during the day, unless you intend on queueing for randoms tonight and don't mind what order you get them/how many times, etc.

The key change here is that running dungeons through random no longer locks the instance. if you run it on your own it will.
Before random would still lock them. and you wouldnt be able to explicitly enter one on your own. Now you can

You have to do the new dungeons in the proper order the first time through, so you know which one you will get. Read up on it before hand. Which is the first one again? The future one?

I may be having a faulty recollection here, or maybe they changed - I will have to go look at the patch notes specifically for this, but wasn't there talk along the lines that you could queue for a specific dungeon at least once per day, regardless of whether you went in earlier through the RDF? For example, if I went into one of the new 3 via RDF, I could still queue specifically for the same one later, just one time, in the same lockout period.
Darn it, going to have to reread patch notes now....grumble, grumble.

I read somewhere (I forget where, so may be wrong) that the LFG no longer locks you out of queuing specifics.
So if you want a specific item from say, End Time, you can queue for that dungeon specifically with a group of your choice once per day, without any previous visits via LFG locking you out.
loop_not_defined Nov 29th 2011 11:16AM
Charlie's right. Using Random Dungeon will no longer lock you to a Heroic. Only Specific Dungeon will lock you to Heroics in 4.3.
Patch Notes:
"Players who use Dungeon Finder for a random Heroic dungeon will no longer be locked to that instance. Previously, players who entered an instance via the Random Dungeon option were then prohibited from queuing for that dungeon or entering the instance manually via the portal. Players should now always be able to complete a specific Heroic dungeon once per day regardless of any random dungeons completed."
eel5pe Nov 29th 2011 11:22AM
I also wanted to add that there aren't any ilvl requirements if you manually enter a dungeon (like say, if your guild wants to carry your new 85 rogue re-roll through the new 5-mans).

Read the patch notes, it tells you there: Here I'll even quote it for you, since you can't be bothered to do a 5 second search: Players who use Dungeon Finder for a random Heroic dungeon will no longer be locked to that instance. Since you're not opposed to spending 5 seconds researching, might I suggest the following?

If we cut out every question that could be answered with Google, we wouldn't be able to do this feature every day.
Xayíde Nov 29th 2011 1:23PM
Still, if you have a question about a patch, your first reaction should be "let me read the patch notes" and not "let me ask someone". It's also polite to try something yourself before wasting someone else's time.
What raingod did was just reply impoliteness with rudeness, which is valid in some cases. Well maybe not here, since this is The Queue and it's SUPPOSED to answer questions... But you can still get the point though.
Noyou Nov 29th 2011 1:46PM
Not to mention, if WoW questions didn't get asked, we would be left with 3 pages of stargate comments :p

First off, the patch notes Raingod insinuated were so clear didn't even answer Sarducci's question directly. The patch notes state that if you run a RANDOM dungeon, you will not be locked. Sarducci's question is essentially, "Ok, well what if I select a specific dungeon? Will I be locked then?"
(Yeah, the patch note *indirectly* informs you that it will still lock you if chosen specifically because of the wording "once per day" but it's not necessarily clear enough that someone shouldn't be allowed to ask someone to be sure.)
Secondly...asking a question is now considered impolite? It honestly makes me a little sad for society that someone would be looked down upon for reaching out to their fellow human beings instead of mindlessly Googling everything so they don't have to interact with anybody else.

You forgot one!
What will happen to my Valor points?
MattKrotzer Nov 29th 2011 11:16AM
I actually DID ask that one to him on Twitter.

I ATE THEM. ALL OF THEM. THEY'RE GONE NOW.
