In the case of the old Honor system it's no longer available like Molten Core is. We know who participated, what they achieved, when, and we can in this instance restrict those specific items (some of which were arguably more difficult to obtain than any raid has ever been) to the people that earned them when the system existed. It's also worth noting that people's time investments, even at level 85 and going back and doing these old raids over and over to build a full set, is not inconsequential. It's not accurate to compare raid item drop rates (regardless of character level) now, to current honor gains and their comparison to the original honor ranking system.
We do agree that the restriction to the specific characters that earned those titles kind of sucks. It's the player that earned those items, really, not any specific character. If we had a way to make them account-wide right now, we would. We can't, but account-wide achievements are planned for Mists of Pandaria, and we hope to be able to include Feats of Strength with that system, which would open up these items to all characters on that player's account.
It's also worth reiterating the point made in the original reply I made "while keeping the door open to reward them to more people in the future." We'd like to find ways to make these items available to players who didn't earn them through the original system, while keeping them prestigious for those that did.
Lastly I want to apologize that this restriction was not communicated before the patch was released. As much we hope to be in front of messaging any changes before they're implemented to ensure you're well informed and can plan your play schedule with these things in mind, it doesn't always happen. For that we are sorry if anyone was looking forward to using these items for transmogrification and is unable to do so.
Just to clarify the topic of discussion in this thread, someone used a compromised account to post private information for other compromised accounts. These were individually compromised accounts and not the result of a security breach. Our customer support staff are securing these accounts and notifying their true owners.
Please note that if you ever feel that your account may be at risk, we strongly suggest following the security measures listed here: http://us.battle.net/en/security/ -- in particular the Security Checklist. Actually, it's a good idea to follow those measures even if you don't suspect that your account may be at risk. An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of account security.

I'll add in a few myself:
For healers, stay on target. It's extremely important that if you're assigned a particular target to heal, that you keep on top of it. It can be tempting to cross-heal (and sometimes it may be necessary) but if everyone stays on top of their healing assignments, everyone should (for the most part) pull through.
For those who can lead, feel free to volunteer to lead the raid. Mark your targets and set your assignments (even if it seems like a straight forward encounter.) You'll be helping people learn how to take on the more difficult encounters in the end.
For those following, don't argue with the raid leader if you can help it. If you're following, sometimes it's best just to follow and see how things go. If you need to question the Raid leader, try to do it discretely. No one likes to be embarrassed or called out.

The "But I want to be a special snowflakeeeeeeee!" whine that started off that big post about the level 60 pvp gear makes me want to slap its author through the Internet.
Ithrandil Dec 1st 2011 1:38AM
@Fletcher
Comments like this make me want to slap it's author through the internet. It shows an amazing lack of both empathy for the people affected as well as an understanding of why they're upset. It has nothing to do with "I'm a special snowflake" and everything to do with how much lots of people were invested and looking forward to a feature for months with no reason not to think it wouldn't work and every reason to think it would. People planned around having this armor. It was available on the PTR. Then suddenly it wasn't and people thought it was a bug, and asked Blizzard about it on the PTR forum. No response. People asked a LOT about it. No response. No mention of any sort of limitation of it's kind ANYWHERE in any announcement, and every reason to believe it would be available on live. No reason to think otherwise, they log in and get an error and still EVERY REASON to think it's a bug. Only later is there a blue post saying it was intended, even though NO other items for PVE or PVP were restricted in the same way.
Had blizzard talked about this before, people would have said "aww man, that stinks" and farmed a differant set. End of story. Instead Blizzard specifically told people "you have to own it and be able to equip it, and it has to have stats" just to pull a bait and switch. And you don't see why people are upset?
It's arbitrary, it's inconsistent with everything else. A LOT of people were excited about doing it. People all over the blogosphere were talking about it. WoW podcasts were talking about it. People all over the PTR forums were talking about it. There is simply no way blizzard couldn't have known how excited people were to be able to look like these sets that they already owned and could equip and wear around. It's a blizzard-created PR shitstorm and it's completely on their own plate, and I can only hope they lose more subscribers over it and do it better in the future.
SamLowry Dec 1st 2011 6:33AM
I agree with Fletcher; the point of mogging is to be able to stay with a look you like, but folks like the original whiner want to use it to show everyone just how awesome he was back in the day.
Jack Mynock Dec 1st 2011 10:39AM
Nothing like senseless hyperbole first thing in the morning. A PR shitstorm is what resulted from Blizzard's announcement that RealIDs would be used on the offical forums. This supposed debacle over some old pvp gear with about 10 polygons and low res textures just makes everyone involved look absurd.

It's comments threatening to 'slap authors in the face' for expressing an oppinion that make me want to slap someone in the face.
..but wait...I just expressed that opinion. So now that means I need to slap myself. *slap* OW! this hurts, no wonder I want to slap people for wanting to do this *Slap" ohh I think I broke my nose, I should slap whoever made me do this. *slap* OW, stupid face slappers *slap* I don't think this is going to end well.. *slap slap slap*

I saw that post with the accounts and passwords.
There was understandably quite a lot of confusion, and moe than one person (myself included) ctrl-f'ed our own. Luckily we weren't there.
The post was in some form of Chinese apparantly, and one of the popular theories was that some disgruntled gold-seller posted it.
bluespacecow Dec 1st 2011 1:11AM
Must be disgruntled from their work conditions.
As those compromised accounts probably won't be able to be used by gold sellers to make money on now that Blizzard and the original owner's attention is on them.
The ways they had into the compromised accounts are probably being actively closed right now.

The comment is on the first question. This guy sounds like he wants to be unique on his server, and selfish minded as well. I think it's awesome wow let us beagle to transmog the tier sets. For one it's more encouraging for people to do the old content and see some of the vintage world our creators had put a huge effort into, 2nd same thing goes for the tier sets. Wow put lots of effort into there art and this is a great way to express it and let me show rather then locking up the key to only a few people to enjoy. Some people are just to Dam extremely nerdy

I'm totally lost on this nontransmog thing. What's happening? What restrictions are people talking about?
Grendalsh Dec 1st 2011 2:45AM
Same here. What items were not allowed for Tmog? It sounds like they're talking about the Legacy PVP items? I've searched the forums and can't find this thread..
Zapwidget Dec 1st 2011 4:43AM
Essentially what's happening is Blizzard decided that as a way to reward players that got the PvP titles in classic only they would be able to transmog their current gear to look like the classic PvP gear.
In and of itself, that wouldn't be a big deal, but in the last couple months, with all the posts and clarifications of what could and couldn't be transmogged, there was no mention of this restriction.
Then there's the point that the gear is still obtainable, so you can still equip the gear, you just can't transmog other gear to look like it, which is a bit ridiculous.
brain314 Dec 1st 2011 6:30AM
Wow, what a kick to the groin. That was something I was considering doing, but hadn't put in the time to farm the honor points. Sucks to be the people who did, tho.
The fault here is Blizzard's failure at communication. The only right thing to do is for them to remove those restrictions.
Shrikesnest Dec 1st 2011 9:56AM
To add some details: at the beginning of BC, Blizzard added sets for Blood Elf Paladins and Draenei Shaman (for those who don't know, prior to BC Shaman were horde exclusive and Paladins to the Alliance - Blood Elves and Draemei changed that) and those sets also can't be used to mpg, even though it's literally impossible for a Horde Paladin or Alliance Shaman to have attained a PVP title, so the awesome Blood Guard set is completely off limits forever.
The vast, vast majority of the playerbase joined after Vanilla. I played during Vanilla, but I've switched servers and factions since then. How many Grand Masters were there? Like a dozen per Vanilla server, tops? How many of them still play? How many that do are still playing the same character on the same server? They're rewarding less than a hundred people at the expense of millions. What an asinine business decision.
But all of hat is tangential. The point of transmogrification is to allow players to customize their looks and experience the awesome old artwork again. All of these arbitrary restrictions show that some part of he WoW dev team is still mentally in the Everquest poopsocking mentality, and that's unfortunate for them and their customers.
Rakashu Dec 1st 2011 3:05AM
I'm one of the people who is extremely saddened by the inability to transmorg the level 60 pvp gear. I played during that time, and I pvp'd a lot, but I was never very good, didn't have a group, and the title of GM was extremely sought after. The highest I ever got was Knight-Leutenant, and even than I had to work extremely hard to get it.
The day that they changed it so we didn't require the titles any more, I think I pvp'd day in and day out pulling 12-16 hour days just so I could collect all of the GM Gear - it was by far my all time favorite, especially being a warrior. It was unfortunate that I could only wear it for such a short period of time while it was still "relevant", but I loved that opportunity none the less.
When I heard about transmogrification just a short month ago, that was most certainty my call to jump back in the game after a very long hiatus. I got to level 85, polished off the old GM gear, and eagerly waited for the chance to wear it once more in battlegrounds. Yet, 2 days ago I discovered that every thing I wanted, the sole reason I really came back to the game, was something unachievable. Not sure what I'm going to do now, but I certainly am a lot less excited about playing!
At least though, I can still use my Dragonstrike!
Justin Dec 1st 2011 4:19PM
Personally this is an instance where their choice is actually ticking off its player base as opposed to exciting them. I dont understand why they would feel the need to restrict these sets other then it being a hassle to allow. Level 70,80,85 sets can be used so why not 60? I'm sorry but I didnt play in vanilla, I play now, and earned my sets, so therefore why are they allowing players that may not even be playing the game anymore, or be using those toons that receieved that title the ability to do so. This just has to be the most moronic thing I have ever heard and makes no sense.
Kusaionara Dec 1st 2011 10:23PM
I started playing at the beginning of BC. My guild mates and I didn't buy the expansion so we could twink our toons at lvl 60 for BG's. I got the entire High Marshall set and wore it all time. When I finally decided to get the expansion I was able to wear it all the way to 70 because it was good enough. I liked it so much I got a figure print of my toon wearing that gear (back when you had enter a lottery to get a figure print made). I have been looking forward to transmogging this gear ever since I first heard about this feature. Even though I never played under the harsh rules of Vanilla, I still put in days and days of PVP'ing at level 60 to get that gear. I feel like I earned it and should be able to use it for transmog now. I was very disappointed when I read this news.
