If nothing else, Wowcrendor is certainly prolific. He clearly takes his machinima seriously and keeps himself on a rigorous, disciplined production schedule. This is the second movie from Wowcrendor this week. And while we run the risk of turning the column into Wowcrendorwatch instead, we do love seeing what Wowcrendor is doing.
In Orc vs Wild: Northrend, Boar Thrills encounters the challenging terrain in Northrend. Using the natural terrain, fauna, and condors of the land, Boar continues onward throughout the frozen land. Wowcrendor uses this video to poke fun at Bear Grylls and all the tropes and memes about the survival lifestyle. It's an amusing video, though it does help to be familiar with the genre. Interested in the wide world of machinima? We have new movies every weekday here on WoW Moviewatch! Have suggestions for machinima we ought to feature? Toss us an email at moviewatch@wowinsider.com.
If I were playing the Man vs. Wild drinking game to this video, I'd already be drunk. This is a pitch-perfect parody, and I can't decide if it's more impressive or hilarious.
I'm sure there are lots of them out there, but the rules we made up after the first season were that you take a drink anytime one of the following happens:
-Bear tells a story (typically relating true stories of people in similar survival situations) -Bear has an art shot in which he considers the beauty of the natural world and his place in it -Bear says "I need to get my bearings" -Bear says "Disorientated" -Bear gets naked -Bear purposely puts himself into a dangerous situation to show you how to survive it -It's getting dark and Bear needs to prepare a shelter -Bear eats something disgusting/raw. If both, drink double. -Bear drinks or otherwise ingests his own urine -Bear spouts a clearly British pronunciation ("vitamins" is the typical example)
Like I said, there are probably a lot of other variants with a lot more rules, but we found ourself pretty well on the way by the end of an episode with just these rules.
If Grylls does something that would probably get you killed in a real survival situation, take a drink
If Grylls advice should only be taken if you have a rediculously specific item with you, take a drink
If a scene change clearly shows Grylls has gone back and spent the night in a hotel or somewhere comfortable instead of actually surviving, take a drink
If Grylls poses dramaticly, wasting valuable time in a survival situation, take a drink
If Grylls narrates something thats painfully obvious (IE: you need water in a desert, mountains are cold, food is important) take a drink
If the camera is conveniantly waiting after Grylls does something obviously scripted or pre-planned, take a drink
Take a drink for each item of clothing that is blatent advertising that Grylls is wearing
Take a drink for any horrible pun the show makes on Grylls name
Take a drink when ever Grylls says 'In a situation like this" or "survival"
Before playing this, make sure you have poison control on speed dial, and NEVER watch more then one episode at a time. Take a drink for each sexy shirtless time Grylls has to boost ratings (or ugly man-hair time depending on your point of view)

I think I'll make a New Year's Resolution early to pronounce vitamin just the way he does in these videos.
