Fan revision gives patch 4.3 trailer added pop
The patch 4.3 trailer, shown above, was a decent enough trailer. It showed all the villains we'd see in the patch, plus a little gameplay. But to many players, it seemed to be missing something, and the common protest was that it had no voice work at all. Given the number of cinematics included in the Dragon Soul raid, perhaps it was decided it didn't need any. Still, the consensus seems to be that the trailer needed a little pop. After all, it's the trailer for the biggest patch of the expansion -- it ought to have a punch to it, shouldn't it?
That's what YouTube user theopeneyes thought, too -- and so he embarked on a mission that took him through the various voiceovers in the 4.3 patch. After finding enough suitable material, he took a trailer that was pretty good and made it pretty amazing. Check out the result after the break.

I thought Blizzard's needed more voice overs and I think the fan's had too many. Somewhere in the middle would have been perfect for me.

I was amazed when I first saw this on youtube, but I couldn't comment there.

You seem like a nice person. You don't want to associate with those YouTube commenters.... /shudder

Now THAT is what the original trailer should've been! THAT is suitably epic.

The voices seemed a little out of place at time. Like when Deathwing talked about the end of time and as he's doing his bad guy monologue we see his corpse skewered on Wyrmrest. Not bad.

When I finished watching this version a few days ago, I recovered that feeling I got with each patch trailer, like when Zul'jin walked away from the Zandalar in a totally badass manner or when Thrall had the evil Ragnaros vision. It just seemed like this trailer was rushed and they put no love into it, which was real sad. Then this fellow comes along and puts a few quotes from Dragon Sould and suddenly you have an amazing video, the ending was just perfect and gave me a little shiver. What I find sad is that people posted this video on the offical forums and got 20 pages of positive feedback and then Blizzard deleted the threads D: I'm just going to ignore the original trailer and pretend this is the real thing.

Holy crap! That gave me the chills!
I was all "The Hour of Twilight trailer was awesome, it didn't need any voice."
I stand corrected. This. It needed this.
Erin Dec 2nd 2011 6:25PM
I agree. I also got chills!

I'm notably in the minority here but I really don't think the voiceovers brought anything that the original didn't already have and in some ways ruined the epicness of the video.
What I was hoping for was more of an extended version of the original with additional video that some crafty machinimator had put together.

Same here.
