Fan revision gives patch 4.3 trailer added pop
The patch 4.3 trailer, shown above, was a decent enough trailer. It showed all the villains we'd see in the patch, plus a little gameplay. But to many players, it seemed to be missing something, and the common protest was that it had no voice work at all. Given the number of cinematics included in the Dragon Soul raid, perhaps it was decided it didn't need any. Still, the consensus seems to be that the trailer needed a little pop. After all, it's the trailer for the biggest patch of the expansion -- it ought to have a punch to it, shouldn't it?
That's what YouTube user theopeneyes thought, too -- and so he embarked on a mission that took him through the various voiceovers in the 4.3 patch. After finding enough suitable material, he took a trailer that was pretty good and made it pretty amazing. Check out the result after the break.

I'll agree with you. But the fan made trailer was pretty good all the same. While it wasn't the best patch trailer Blizzard has ever done here, I did like it and the music and editing is topnotch.

This over the Blizzard trailer hands-down! :3

For me, this is the official trailer for 4.3.
Every time I watch it I get chills by the end.
I... AM... THE CATACLYSM!

Me too, goosebumps all around!

So much better, it seems almost like a new expansion and not just a patch
lukav322 Dec 2nd 2011 4:51PM
Holy crap! That's what it needed to be. Massive kudos to him!

OK, I saw the original and enjoyed it but this one gave me chills. This is exactly what I would have exspected Blizzard to do originally. Voices are great and the timing is excellent. I was more excited watching this one after the patch release than I was before the release with the original trailer. Excellent work.

Starts off a bit off the beat but really finds its pace by the middle and ends very strong. Thumbs up!

OH.MY.GAWD.
OFFICIAL PATCH 4.3 TRAILER!!!
As it happens, blizzard(although they will NEVER accept this) did rush that trailer, along with many other things just to end this expansion. From all other content available in the past from other expansions, this is the one with more potential to explode into a REALLY EPIC story were people would forever sell their souls to WoW.
However, poor judgement and poor gaming decisions led to a complete restructuring of WoW's philosophy in light of so many canceled subs (among other things). That is all that's behind this hush-rush 4.3 go, go, go, launch all-in charade to get as soon as possible to MOP, where a fresh start and an opportunity to not screw things up may happen for them.
I love WoW, but just saying, whether Blizz likes it or not, this is what they reflected, they took something with a lot (maybe too much???) potential and didn't know what to do with it.
Again, Amazing video!!!

Blizzard? Hire him. Now.

Count me in as one who liked the revised trailer better. A bit annoyed that Blizzard, after a year of build-up towards this final patch for Cataclysm, in the end lets the fans do the promotional work for them.

I think he overdid the voiceovers a bit. The part from Thrall about this falling to the heroes again was a nice addition, a few of the comments from Deathwing were nice, but he over saturated the trailer a bit too much with out of place voiceovers.
green_jerm Dec 2nd 2011 6:23PM
Thousand times better. Great job man.
Silversol Dec 2nd 2011 6:37PM
...now it makes me want to see a parody of the trailer with voice acting clips that don't really apply.
Budd must be in this version as a requirement. Maybe have the 'I'm saaaaailing!' when they cut to the players on DWs back.
Shadowwind Dec 2nd 2011 11:34PM
So, uh, does anyone know if there's a way to get Illidan's "You are not prepared" quote from the Burning Crusade trailer, without the music? ...no reason.
Al Dec 2nd 2011 11:34PM
No, no, no, it needs Budd's "Ahoy!" when Deathwing rises up to where Thrall's standing.
Shadowwind Dec 3rd 2011 1:23AM
It hasn't reached the proper level of silliness yet, but how about this? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6V3JvVa76H0

Wow. This guy totally fixed the trailer! Gave me goosebumps there at the end.
Makes me wanna kill Deathwing even more! That guy *IS* a real jerk, afterall!
furrama Dec 2nd 2011 7:07PM
It doesn't feel like a real threat to me until you get a good "reason you suck" speech.
I realized Blizzard has been trying to avoid the whole, "You are NOT prepared!" thing from happening again, but they are shooting themselves in the foot. We need something to rally behind, a shout to rally to defend the world from evil. Progressively the WoWcrack story has felt like the "heroes" (us) have been taking a back seat while the more interesting characters have been the focus. It is good to have interesting characters, but they shouldn't be the focus unless they are a bad guy that we are trying to murder.
"Hey, WE are the most important things here DEATHWING. RAAAAAAAAAWR!"
