Good roleplaying takes a certain amount of finesse and tact.If you want your character to have been present for the kill, go for it. Three of my characters were there, in my storyline.But that's just it. It's *my* storyline. Not everyone will agree. And there comes a point where you learn to be tactful about where you RP that storyline, and if someone disagrees, LET IT GO. Drop it. Agree to disagree, and don't RP about that topic.Easy peasy.
