The Darkmoon Faire begins!

If you weren't able to check out the Faire on the PTR and you're utterly lost as to what to do there, no worries. Our test realm coverage may help you out a little.
The one question everybody seems to be asking but nobody thought to answer is: How the heck do you get to the Darkmoon Island? Do you fly there? Is there a boat? No, neither of those things. It's much easier than that. The former carnival grounds in Elwynn Forest (just south of Goldshire) or Mulgore (just west of Thunder Bluff) will get you there. Go to one of those two areas, find the great big portal to Darkmoon Island, and you're on your way. Going through the portal will even earn you what is possibly one of the easiest achievements in the entire game: Come One, Come All!
Players that enjoy collecting purely cosmetic items like mounts, pets and transmogrification outfits are going to be making some of the most difficult World of Warcraft decisions they've made in a very long time thanks to the Darkmoon Faire. The Faire offers many things, but they all cost precious Darkmoon Prize Tickets -- tickets which are in extremely limited supply. If you're chasing a pricey mount, you may not be able to get anything else this month!
What are all of you planning to pick up first with your tickets? Personally, I'm going for the pets. I've never been either a pet collector or a mount collector, so I have a very low number of both. Pet Battles in Mists of Pandaria caught my interest, however, so I need to start building up my stable of pocket monsters before the expansion rolls around. Mounts are still pretty low on my list of priorities, so I may even go after heirlooms and replica gearsets before I ever look at that Darkmoon Dancing Bear.

It's greyed out because it's now junk.
There is no way Blizzard would let someone who stockpiled old tickets clear out everything they want in one day.
If it gets updated, and used a currency, expect the currency to be replaced. Hell, you can't even keep currency from holidays from one year to the next now.

@Drakkenfyre...I asked because they are NOT grayed out. I didn't want to dump them if they could somehow be useful.
Drakkenfyre Dec 4th 2011 9:23PM
Oh, sorry, read too fast and got "was greyed out".
Seen too many patch notes about older items getting greyed out. It's an oversight. They won't be used again.

I noticed a vendor in the OLD faire area by Goldshire. Did you check her?

How do i get more tokens?
Saikoujin Dec 4th 2011 1:12PM
In addition to obtaining them from the quests, you can buy them from vendors. One is towards the entrance, the other towards the docks. You can purchase either a small bag of tokens or a larger one that has 20. Both are extremely cheap.

Thank a lot

Yeah... 1 ticket per daily instead of 5? It'll take months of grinding just to get anything at all, and years of diligent DMF farming to get all the rewards. I understand Blizzard wanting to make the new content last a while, but that's ridiculous.

Portals on the Darkmoon Island docks.
Falcon6 Dec 4th 2011 4:12PM
At the very end of the dock in the faire there's portals to Elwynn and Mulgore.

The old DF tickets and rep items (Glowing Scorpid Blood, Furry Paw et al) are still white-quality items. May we assume this is sloppy auditing and that they will have no further use in the game?
John.r.trahan Dec 4th 2011 10:08PM
So where are the heirloom pants and rings? I thought they were going to be some of the rewards you could buy with the tickets. Did I miss something?

Don't forget to head to the stage at the top of the hour to see a virtual Elite Tauren Chieftains concert. I busted out the nogginfogger elixir, turned into a heavy metal skeleton, and danced in the audience. It's quite a spectacle seeing a bunch of random race dances during this performance. i was literally LOLing.
Really impressed with the Darkmoon faire, especially the atmosphere. They've really transformed that event from a snorefest to the place I now go to hang out when raiding for dungeon queues to pop.
