Darkmoon artifacts will drop even when there is no Faire

Just to clarify one point, the quest drops that happen in the dungeons/raids/BG's happen all the time, even if the faire isn't in town. Think of it sort of like the Darkmoon Card redemptions. You're out playing all month, while you're doing stuff you're getting chances at the items, then when the faire is in town you turn it all in. (It's also worth pointing out that the turn-in items aren't soulbound, so just like the cards I'd expect some people to farm them just to put them up on the AH.)
It's really just this first week and appearance of the faire that's off because the Darkmoon Adventurer's Guide wasn't available for the 3 weeks prior. When it rolls around next month there should be better feel for how the whole system and ticket acquisition rate feels.

It looks like they are missing some gear sets at the fair. I wan't the Death Mantle set, but all i saw for rogues was the Shadowcraft set.. Am I missing something or they going to add more later?
Happenstance Dec 6th 2011 8:14PM
There are two replica vendors, each selling different sets from the other. IIRC, the female dwarf sells the one you're looking for
Literaltruth Dec 6th 2011 8:21PM
The only armour sets at the faire are the vanilla dungeon sets. These were added to the faire because they were removed from the game in cata and so were unavailable for transmog.

I'm sorry cause has nothing to do with Op but what does iirc mean? I see it all the time.
LouCypher Dec 6th 2011 9:32PM
IIRC = if I recall correctly
Amaxe Dec 6th 2011 11:48PM
I sense an Abbot and Costello moment coming on here:
ZodiacDragons (ZD): What does IIRC stand for?
LouCypher (LC): If I Recall Correctly...
ZD: Yes...?
LC: yes what?
ZD: What do you mean if you recall correctly?
LC: Huh? You asked about the meaning of IIRC
ZD: Which is...
LC: If I Recall Correctly.
ZD: If you recall correctly, what?
[etc...]

My desire for mini-pets is pleased with this.
Very pleased.
My desire for making money from all my alt runs of dungeons is also very pleased.

So if I were to buy up all the artifacts off the AH, I could level up my DMF rep and get a lot of tickets?
Ian Dec 6th 2011 8:53PM
It appears that the quest for a given artifact might be limited to a monthly quest, as in once per any given faire.
There would have to be some sort of artificial throttle to prevent simply buying your way to the tokens and rep.

All the non-game quests are weekly, which means once a month, since the faire is once a month. As one reader pointed out on another write up- you can apparently drop professions and get them up to 75 and do those quests. A good plan if you have 2 gathering professions or haven't maxed out anything.

HERE we go! This is the final piece that makes this whole thing not total BS. Alright, now that my understanding is complete, I can go back to just genuinely loving the DMF.

AWESOME. also wanted to add that the Test of Strength quest can be easily done by 85's in Cathedral of Darkness near ICC, killing Zealots. i got it in under 25 minutes standing in one spot. The respawn rate is astronomical.

What I did was go to Tol Barad, Grab the dailies, drink a treasure finding potion, then just go on a killing spree. More dailies done, more treasure chests to open and lots and lots of cloth for my tailor.

WoW thank goodness!!! :-D
Spider Dec 6th 2011 11:36PM
Do I need to keep that Adventurer's Journal in my bags for them to drop? I was a bit confused on that.
VioletArrows Dec 7th 2011 12:44AM
Yes, you do. It allows you to see and pick up any item associated with the faire, like the grisly trophies.
Spider Dec 7th 2011 1:43AM
Blast, another bag space used up then. >
Doffencrag Dec 7th 2011 4:12AM
@Spider: That's two slots, sadly. One for the Guide and one for the Grisly Trophies.

I've been selling my spares on the auction house. I've made 6,000g in two days off these things (including buying one for 9g and reselling it for 1k), which frankly, are a peace of cake to find.
I'm not sure if this announcement bodes ill or well for my gold making venture.
It does mean I'll have them stockpiled and ready to go for the first week of January.

So in order for me to get the set I want I need to pug a group to get tier5 instead of getting them at the DMF? Now that's a bit silly to me, change it to justice points to buy the tier gear instead of the tokens i'd be okay witht hat, but getting a group together to down old content is pretty lame to me.
Maybe im the only one who thinks so, but call me crazy.
