Do I need to keep that Adventurer's Journal in my bags for them to drop? I was a bit confused on that.

Yes, you do. It allows you to see and pick up any item associated with the faire, like the grisly trophies.

@Spider: That's two slots, sadly. One for the Guide and one for the Grisly Trophies.
