Mists of Pandaria talent calculator gets an update

On the off chance that the list of talents was starting to feel stale, Blizzard has released a brand new build of the calculator. This includes some bug fixes and other changes, many as a result of player feedback.
Because this is a preview and MoP is still a long, long time away, keep in mind that this version of the talent calculator is a preview. This is not written in stone. It's not only likely to change, it is absolutely guaranteed to change. Change is inevitable, especially in this calculator. Because it's not done. You see where I'm going with this, right? This calculator is going to change again.
Check out behind the cut see what Zarhym said, direct from his skull-like lips.
We trust you've all had ample time to plug away on the Mists of Pandaria Talent Calculator. You may have even found a few mind-bottling class changes in the works (you know, when things are so crazy it gets your thoughts all trapped, like in a bottle?).
To that end, we're pleased to announce we've just released an update to the calculator! In addition to bug fixes, we've made some changes as a result of your feedback.
Keep in mind this is still a very early preview of the Mists of Pandaria talent system, which will likely continue to evolve during development of the expansion. We also don't plan on making further updates to the calculator until we get much closer to our testing phase, but rest assured we'll still be considering your feedback throughout the development process.
World of Warcraft: Mists of Pandaria is the next expansion, raising the level cap to 90, introducing a brand new talent system, and bringing forth the long-lost pandaren race to both Horde and Alliance. Check out the trailer and follow us for all the latest MoP news!

Still no Chaos Bolt, but there dont seem to be many lock changes, so I remain hopeful that it may return.
kabshiel Dec 7th 2011 9:19PM
I don't know why you'd want Chaos Bolt to come back unless it was completely changed. Right now it's probably the most underwhelming end talent of any spec in the game.

Purely cause it still looks badass, while soulfire is a hand-me-down pyroblast. it cant be so brutal for them to make it a little more compelling. I mean its GREEN. Ideally yes it will be completely changed, and so be it.

STORMBOLT WHAT IS THIS MADNESS.
I love Blizzard all over again.

We get a (well, another) raid cooldown!! War banner looks like so much fun, I'm afraid to let myself believe it'll go live like that.
VSUReaper Dec 7th 2011 8:22PM
I'm on an iPhone so the calculator isn't plying nice with me: what is war banner?
Jason Dec 7th 2011 9:02PM
More rubbish for warriors... Spells we already have are still at the top of the tree... A whole tier dedicated to charging... sigh... choose between throwdown or piercing howl when we have both in PVP right now... Deadly calm as useless as ever... It's pretty much a PVP talent tree... As cool as Stormbolt sounds... it's just another ranged attack we'll barely use except in PVP...

@VSUreaper :: The warrior War Banner spell has several effects depending on what you cast it for.
Mocking Banner: AOE taunt effect for enemies within 15 yards of the banner to go after the warrior who cast it for 6 seconds, persists for 30 seconds.
Demoralizing Banner: AOE Demorolizing Shout effect, reducing enemy damage by 10% for those within 30 yards of the banner, persists for 15 seconds.
Skull Banner: Increases critical strike chance of all allies within 30 yards of the banner by 30%, persists for 15 seconds.

In regards to the war banner thing, I can see Skull Banner being a severely broken raid cooldown for Heroism/Bloodlust pops. I can almost see warriors cycling out who casts it so we can get max effect for those "heroic" moments of epic hacking and slashing.

I can't understand how anyone would not think that stormbolt is awesome... i mean, a) it's stormbolt, b) it deals 400% of your weapon damage to anything immune to stuns, and c) it's stormbolt.
it's like deep freeze for warriors, but 3 times awesomer.
Twill Dec 7th 2011 6:15PM
Can anyone list what has changed? I didn't catch anything, although I'm remembering now that a ton of priest abilities were missing last time... time to go check that.

Mages got some very interesting changes. Apparently Blizzard finally listened to all our hollering on the forums about how terrible our level 90 tier was and actually gave us new spells instead of that recycled stuff. Living Bomb isn't going to be baseline, it's going to be a choice of interesting Arcane and Frost flavors of it at level 90. Cauterize also got a weird mix of nerf/buff. The recycled nonsense that was mark 1 of our level 90 talent tier is learned with specs now.
Also, it looks like Fingers of Frost is a learned Frost passive. It was missing from the previous calculator.

I don't see Blast Wave anywhere, I hope this is just alpha weirdness and not the removal of a nice instant AOE/Snare.
Opkier Dec 7th 2011 7:51PM
Blastwave missing, no damage component to Deep Freeze, Fingers of Frost seems to be PvE raid only, FoF and Brainfreeze no longer working together. I fear for frost. Things are looking up for fire though, Dragon's breath back to Fire baseline. Digging the new Ignite.

That should pretty much cover everything, I think.

^ The article this one could've/should've been.
Paul Dec 8th 2011 6:08AM
Blast Wave has been rolled into Flamestrike, which has returned as a level 70 class ability (it was missing before).

Not many Shaman changes, but unlike every other Shaman around, I'm not going to cry and instead I'm going to recognize that the expansion is still very early in development stages, the class is getting a rather massive design change with the new totems (and thus is less likely to be talked about this early), and that the class feels overall very healthy at the moment anyway so big changes probably aren't needed.
TL;DR - I have nothing to complain about, so I won't!
Astoreth Dec 7th 2011 8:06PM
What? Sir, I don't know if you've heard, but this is the INTERNET. Cause is not a prerequesite for complaining in these parts.
Bapo Dec 7th 2011 6:22PM
It may be because its a utility thing, but speed of light seems... odd, for paladins. For holy, its a defensive cd. For prot, its an atk boost, and for ret, its an aoe heal. Seems like the roles are flipped.
(Not that I'm really complaining, I normally popped holy radiance when it was instant to help with some slight healing when I couls anyways).
