When it's a slow, rainy day around WoW Moviewatch headquarters (as it is), we occasionally look back to the inspiring machinima of yesterday. The Device Has Been Modified is one such video. The song is from Victims of Science from the game Portal.
Baron Soosdon took that inspiration and created an entire world for his protagonist to enter, explore, and shoot up. Using a mechano-strider to personify the computer's voice was a particularly brilliant stroke of inspiration. All in all, The Device Has Ben Modified is still one of our favorite machinimas. Thanks to Adam Holisky for the suggestion! Interested in the wide world of machinima? We have new movies every weekday here on WoW Moviewatch! Have suggestions for machinima we ought to feature? Toss us an email at moviewatch@wowinsider.com.
"From" Portal isn't quite right. The song is original, using quotes from GlaDOS. Speaking of which, the Mechanostrider is supposed to represent her. Not just a "computer voice".
i have to admit that this is one of those minimalist(in its way) videos that comes to life on the basis of atmosphere and style over all else. it manages to capture the thoughtfully frantic portal style and amps it up really nicely.
This is hands down one of my absolute favorite videos ever!! I love everything about it, from the artwork, the presentation, camera angles, to the music itself.

I'm ashamed I hadn't seen this before! Gorgeous work!
Also, I started laughing like an idiot when I saw the "How to Paladin IX won 12 Oscars." >_>;

I think this is what...the 5th, 6th, time it's been posted since it came out?
Not that I mind, I enjoy it.
