The Queue: Hogwarts this ain't
Welcome back to The Queue, the daily Q&A column in which the WoW Insider team answers your questions about the World of Warcraft. Anne Stickney (@Shadesogrey) is holding this column hostage and talking Warcraft.
Look, I'm gonna be totally honest with you -- I've never watched The Big Bang Theory. Netflix keeps telling me "Say, you'll probably like this!" but Netflix also told me I'd enjoy High Lonesome: The Story of Bluegrass Music, so I try not to take anything it says too seriously. Instead, I present you with Mr. Wizard's World, a show I spent entirely too many afternoons after school happily watching while waiting for You Can't Do That On Television and Dangermouse to come on.
Hey, why don't we talk some Warcraft?
Tsukuri asked:
Regarding last question today (not sure if this has been said): But I thought that the park district of SW was destroyed thanks to our goblin designed giant cannon over in Azshara. Is this just a rumor i thought was true or was the answer correct?

Nope! There's actually a conversation between soldiers while you're waiting to go to Vash'jir in which they discuss Deathwing's attack on the park. According to the soldiers, Deathwing flew in, torched the park, and then took off. Now as to why Deathwing torched the Park ... well, it had a moonwell sitting smack in the middle of it, which was likely a lovely reminder to Deathwing of that pesky night elf Malfurion. Malfurion was the person who stole the Dragon Soul from Deathwing originally, and the night elves managed to keep it and hide it away after the War of the Ancients. So Deathwing has a reason to be really irked at anything that reminds him of the creatures that stole his most prized possession away.
Morgatho asked:
Q4tQ: Wheres my Top Hat Pattern?!
In Stromgarde. With Turalyon, Alleria, and the shattered remains of Frostmourne.
Seriously though, someone in Wowhead's comments for the item is stating that it drops off of rare elites in Uldum, Hyjal, Twilight Highlands, Vashj'ir and Deepholm. I have yet to see it on my server, and goodness knows whether the person who made the comment was telling the truth or not. So ... we don't really know, exactly. Sorry!
josh asked:
question for the queue
trying to get the chest or shoulders to match my hands and feet.
i have Pillagers Gauntlets and Leggings of Divine Retribution
where can i get the chest/shoulders if at all?
Oh hey, I know the answer to this one because there's a warrior in my guild who is wearing it! Best match for those pieces is the Vengeful Gladiator's Plate set -- it's the same black and blue plate. The good news is, you can pick that up from Kezzik the Striker at Area 52 in Netherstorm for honor points. The bad news is, you need to be a warrior to get it. I hope you're a warrior!
ganrokh81 asked:
So, who created the Twilight Realm that some of the Twilight Dragons always pull us into? Has it always existed? I've read the novels, but the only one I think that has mentioned it may have been Night of the Dragon.
That's a really good question. Here's the deal with the Twilight Dragonflight -- they were created by fusing the eggs from plain old ordinary dragons with the energies of the Netherwing Dragonflight we see out in Outland. The Netherwing were created when a batch of Deathwing's eggs were zapped by Twisting Nether energies, and it gave them that odd sort of translucency that the adults all have. They're literally composed of Twisting Nether energy. That trait was passed on to the Twilight Dragonflight. They created the Twilight realm, and they control it.
Puntable asked:
If I win some loot in the LFR, and then give it to my friend (who also rolled on the loot but didn't win), is this an exploit?
I'm pretty sure you can't do that. A recent set of hotfixes stated that players should be unable to trade loot they got from Raid Finder encounters to players who are loot-locked to that boss. Since your friend would be loot-locked at that point, you shouldn't be able to trade to him at all.
Plus ... well, if he didn't win the roll, then he doesn't get the gear. Rolling for a friend so that he essentially gets two rolls on gear isn't exactly what we'd call fair or nice.
durandal asked:
Here's another question:
Who's the father of Aggras's baby? Is it really Thrall?
Honey, when Aggra said "You've been at this for days, Go'el" in the patch 4.2 trailer, she may or may not have been talking about chatting with the elements, if you catch my drift. Seriously, the baby is Thrall's, they're both delighted, and I'm sure we'll see the adventures of the little tyke some day down the road. Far, far down the road.

Thinking about world firsts today, I was wondering what guilds like Vodka and Paragons raiding schedules would be like whilst they are trying to get the bosses down... Any insight?
MattKrotzer Dec 8th 2011 11:06AM
You can follow @L2R_Kina on Twitter to get updates on Vodka and their raiding. (I think they have an official guild Twitter too, but I forget what it is.)

Check out the Documentary "Race to World First". There are interviews with the top guilds, one of them I forget which said when they are in progression they raid Sunday-Thursday 5pm-10pm. So it is a 3/4 time job along with whatever they do in the real world.

Considering how much of Paragon got suspensions for exploiting LFR loot, I think they've knocked themselves out of the running for World Firsts. We'll see.
Pyromelter Dec 8th 2011 11:48AM
Crow, I have to imagine Paragon has enough of a bench as well as members with multiple accounts that they would be able to at least do some heroic content this week. And to back my point up, Paragon is currently #4 on the wowprogress ranking site, despite the setback. The EU exploiting the loot hack has really opened up an opportunity for vodka or Blood Legion to capture the top spot for this tier. Both are 6/8 heroic already.
Diop Dec 8th 2011 12:47PM
" The EU exploiting the loot hack has really opened up an opportunity for vodka or Blood Legion to capture the top spot for this tier."
Has it though? I mean you have to remember the US did get an extra day. Currently they are number 1 EU, and 5/8 with only 1 day under their belt, Vodka and Blood Legion are only 1 boss ahead, with 2 days done.
The fact that DREAM Paragon are now 4th really kind of proves how naïve some people were about how they run things, you can bet most, if not all, of their players have multiple accounts and a lot of them will have many alts in a lot of heroic firelands gear. I mean their original plan for LFR was to run each main through it with 24 alts to guarantee that character gets all the loot they need, that is how much effort they put into this.
I hope people don't take offence at me calling them naïve, but if you thought a suspension, or a 1month suspension or even banning all the involved accounts permanently would stop DREAM Paragon from being a world first contender, you just don't understand how they do things.

Paragon is only 6/8 in 10M. Since the race for World First is populated almost entirely by 25M guilds, Paragon is 6/8 in a different game than everyone else is playing. It's not a slight to 10M guilds to say this - it's just that every World First-caliber guild is a 25 man guild.

This wasn't rescheduled. Shenanigans!
The Dewd Dec 8th 2011 11:15AM
Actually, it was. We just changed all your clocks. And your watch. And hacked into your phone and computer to change them, too.
And we secretly relocated you to another timezone.
Did I mention that we also replaced your regular coffee with Folgers Crystals?

Q for the Queue:
What happened to Pottermore coming out in October?
MattKrotzer Dec 8th 2011 11:09AM
Extreme server stress, even for Beta testing.
My wife was chosen to try it out, and every click on the site was a "Will this load or crash?" dilemma.
I think they VASTLY underestimated the demand and amount of bandwidth Pottermore is going to require.
That said, I think its a fantastic site concept, and contains loads of enjoyable content. (I can't wait to be sorted!)
I haven't seen any word on an updated "live" site, though.
llcjay2003 Dec 8th 2011 2:30PM
Is it an actual MMO? From what I have seen (granted, it has been months) it was something like an online interactive book story. Kind of like the "Choose Your Adventure" old RPG books.

Q4TQ - Unrelated to anything current, but:
The dungeon finder and LFR pairs you with anyone from your Battlegroup (or is it region wide now?). Do you know if it's possible to be paired with someone with the same name as you? Anyone got any fun anecdotes of that happening?
MattKrotzer Dec 8th 2011 11:10AM
I don't see why this couldn't happen, but I've yet to hear of it from anyone I know.
It would certainly be amusing!
Hidendragon Dec 8th 2011 11:30AM
I have had this happen twice, one of which was also a Druid. I have also been in groups where people have the same name as people in my guild. It freaky when i happens but pretty cool.
Devin Dec 8th 2011 11:33AM
This happened to my brother while in AV a while back, his mage had the same name as a Pally on our team. You still have the server tag on your name, so it's not really an issue, mechanically speking.
Yes, LFR/LFD are region-wide now.
Charron Dec 8th 2011 11:54AM
I've had a player with the same guild name from time to time, once it was the same name as a guildie but with an accented a. Threw me off!
I also got into an HoO run with EmberIsolte of machinima fame last night! Geekout moment of the month!
EbonyIvory Dec 8th 2011 12:09PM
Yes it can happen, when I was last grouping with a couple of guildies for a "quick" heroic back in July I ended up in a fresh Grim Batol run with a Warrior called Straga, the same name as my hunter.
He and I didn't notice at first until he made a rather rude comment about our guildie gearing up his healing spec and I heard "Thats not very nice Straga" on Vent and I was like wtf?
loop_not_defined Dec 8th 2011 12:12PM
When did LFD (and now LFR) become region-wide? I know Battlegrounds became region-wide about a year ago, but don't recall this ever happening with LFD. At least not officially.
Wyborne Dec 8th 2011 12:13PM
My personal favorite was when someone from my guild went into the raid finder and found a person with the same name as my guild.
