The Queue: These new white and silver Coke cans are freaking me out

I won't lie: I thought these new Coke cans were Diet Coke for about four days until I inspected them more closely. Seriously, it looked like my deli ran out of regular Coke and only stocked diet. Thankfully, this was not the case, and Coke is bringing back the red cans. I did start liking the white ones, though. Now I'm sad.
The header image today is a fantastic rendering of Matt'Mat the ogre by Matt Krotzer. If you are not familiar with Matt'Mat the ogre, you don't listen to enough of the WoW Insider Show podcast. So go listen. We've almost gotten enough drawings of Matt'Mat that we're going to have to make a gallery soon. Stay tuned.
On with the questions, then.
John asked:
The dungeon finder and LFR pairs you with anyone from your Battlegroup (or is it region wide now?). Do you know if it's possible to be paired with someone with the same name as you? Anyone got any fun anecdotes of that happening?
These days, all the Dungeon Finder, Raid Finder, and Battlegrounds stuff is done region-wide to shorten queues. For the most part it worked, I believe. You can get paired with people of the same name, but obviously it is very, very rare. I have never seen it happen, although I've seen two people with the same concept but different spellings, two distinct executions of the same joke. Fun times.
Zaet asked:
Lorewise, why does the horde use an alliance gunship in DS raid?
Last I know they where at each other necks, why does the alliance let the horde use their flying bathtub?
After Thrall takes his first shot at Deathwing with the Demon Soul, Deathwing gets a little mad and crashes into one of the closest objects to him, which happens to be the Horde gunship floating above Wyrmrest. Gordal had a great list in the comments of all of the Horde and Alliance gunships we've seen so far:
Icecrown
- Alliance - The Skybreaker
- Horde - Orgrim's Hammer
- Alliance - Llane's Oath
- Horde - Storm's Fury (destroyed)
- Alliance - The Skyfire
- Horde - Unnamed (destroyed by Deathwing, wreckage present in End Time)
Silly question, but I can't seem to find the answer anywhere: Is there a portal or an NPC to go back from Darkmoon Island? Or do you have to hearth?
Go to the boardwalk area. Right in the middle of the boardwalk, down on the pier, are two portals, one to Elwynn Forest and one to Mulgore. You're home free.
Pneazy asked:
Any chance Blizz will ever add extra stuff for the ethereal companion?
Most likely not. Once Blizzard ships those pets and such, it's usually a done deal. However, you never know what might appear on that little vendor. The Ethereal companion is one of the coolest companion pets out there -- it's a shame there isn't a more accessible way to get something like him.

In Well of Eternity, we destroy the portals the demons are using to leave the palace... why is it thought logical that this will cause the palace to be emptied of demons? Shouldn't we get a demon backlog if we destroy all their means of leaving?
loop_not_defined Dec 9th 2011 11:25AM
I think it just means they have to travel out to the battlefield on foot, so they're now leaving a different direction that doesn't affect us.
Boobah Dec 9th 2011 1:09PM
I thought we were destroying the portals they were using to arrive; the ones who HAD arrived kept marching because they needed to head out to the battle with the Ancients, dragonflights, Night Elves, and their other allies.
Skarn Dec 9th 2011 4:14PM
I think Boobah is correct. The portals are the means of demon arrival. I've actually only been there once though!
Skarn Dec 9th 2011 4:15PM
I think Boobah is correct. The generators we destroy power the portals that are bringing demons IN. We're preventing more from coming while the ones that are already here head out to the war.
I've only been there once though! I should go check it out again.

What about the gunship that gets blown up over Gilneas?
bountyhunterah Dec 9th 2011 11:27AM
good call, cause I was gonna post that, depending on which faction you are, the gunship of the other facton gets put down too.... so I guess technicly the horde loses 3 or 4 gunships......
Why the air faction favoritism? lol :P
bountyhunterah Dec 9th 2011 11:29AM
In ICC that is..........needs an edit button
Shadda Dec 9th 2011 11:53AM
The Horde gunships were manufactured by goblins. They are working as intended. :)
jordan Dec 9th 2011 12:04PM
They probably don't quite get the concept that hydrogen filled balloons covered in a thermite compound is a bad idea. I 'd like to believe that the alliance won the ICC battle simply because Varian gets a rare opportunity to act like a decent guy and earn a little respect from players. It would be a shame to deny that in lore. Oh and Jaina cries.

Why does Blizzard hate Horde gunships? I am outraged!
Pwnzoar Dec 9th 2011 12:45PM
Why is Blizzard so Alliance biased??
Marolas Dec 9th 2011 1:31PM
I have a feeling it's because any time someone designs something that has a blimp-shaped balloon attached to it to keep it afloat the instant reaction in a developer's mind is this:

The left head (right head from the POV of the ogre - ooh - this is just like explaining Rhyolith the 1st 5 times)
looks like Dumb Donald from the Original Fat Albert TV Cartoons: http://www.imdb.com/media/rm2796524032/tt0068072
Bynde Dec 9th 2011 1:31PM
I especially like the crab-hat on the one on the left. Good show, Matt.

@Krotzer
If I ever get my book published, I would love for you to be the artist. You seriously should consider sending your works around (if you haven't already).

Thanks all. :)
