The Queue: These new white and silver Coke cans are freaking me out

I won't lie: I thought these new Coke cans were Diet Coke for about four days until I inspected them more closely. Seriously, it looked like my deli ran out of regular Coke and only stocked diet. Thankfully, this was not the case, and Coke is bringing back the red cans. I did start liking the white ones, though. Now I'm sad.
The header image today is a fantastic rendering of Matt'Mat the ogre by Matt Krotzer. If you are not familiar with Matt'Mat the ogre, you don't listen to enough of the WoW Insider Show podcast. So go listen. We've almost gotten enough drawings of Matt'Mat that we're going to have to make a gallery soon. Stay tuned.
On with the questions, then.
John asked:
The dungeon finder and LFR pairs you with anyone from your Battlegroup (or is it region wide now?). Do you know if it's possible to be paired with someone with the same name as you? Anyone got any fun anecdotes of that happening?
These days, all the Dungeon Finder, Raid Finder, and Battlegrounds stuff is done region-wide to shorten queues. For the most part it worked, I believe. You can get paired with people of the same name, but obviously it is very, very rare. I have never seen it happen, although I've seen two people with the same concept but different spellings, two distinct executions of the same joke. Fun times.
Zaet asked:
Lorewise, why does the horde use an alliance gunship in DS raid?
Last I know they where at each other necks, why does the alliance let the horde use their flying bathtub?
After Thrall takes his first shot at Deathwing with the Demon Soul, Deathwing gets a little mad and crashes into one of the closest objects to him, which happens to be the Horde gunship floating above Wyrmrest. Gordal had a great list in the comments of all of the Horde and Alliance gunships we've seen so far:
Icecrown
- Alliance - The Skybreaker
- Horde - Orgrim's Hammer
- Alliance - Llane's Oath
- Horde - Storm's Fury (destroyed)
- Alliance - The Skyfire
- Horde - Unnamed (destroyed by Deathwing, wreckage present in End Time)
Silly question, but I can't seem to find the answer anywhere: Is there a portal or an NPC to go back from Darkmoon Island? Or do you have to hearth?
Go to the boardwalk area. Right in the middle of the boardwalk, down on the pier, are two portals, one to Elwynn Forest and one to Mulgore. You're home free.
Pneazy asked:
Any chance Blizz will ever add extra stuff for the ethereal companion?
Most likely not. Once Blizzard ships those pets and such, it's usually a done deal. However, you never know what might appear on that little vendor. The Ethereal companion is one of the coolest companion pets out there -- it's a shame there isn't a more accessible way to get something like him.

The Cataclysm has not been a good period for the poor Horde gunship manufacturers, then.
Or wait, maybe the're now taking baths in gold from all the repeated orders and N'Zoth is actually the name of the CEO of Horde Gunships Ltd. It's a conspiracy I tells ya.

The most profound way to deteriorate a society is from within through economics. So sayeth Ras al Ghul.
Shinae Dec 9th 2011 11:23AM
The Horde ships were made by goblins so they're bound to crash and burn anyway.
Nagaina Dec 9th 2011 11:38AM
@ Shinae ~
Oh, gods. Flashing back to the "How Not To Die In A Horrific Explosion" safety briefing before you depart for the Twilight Highlands.
....Speaking of which, the Horde basically lost an *entire* airship fleet to the Twilight Flight in that little misadventure. Whichever goblin cartel makes those things obviously owns Garrosh Hellscreams nuts at this point.
Jonathan Dec 9th 2011 12:17PM
Don't forget the ones Baine commissioned in the Shattering. Goblins making bank.
CDave Dec 9th 2011 12:21PM
Clearly Blizzard is showing Alliance favoritism through the success rates of airships.
lividmonkey Dec 9th 2011 12:22PM
Goblin products are built to BLAST!
MattKrotzer Dec 10th 2011 12:18AM
Gnomish Air Superiority. Small on the ground, Big in the skies.
kulhanek.jeff Dec 9th 2011 11:08AM
There is the entire fleet of horde airships that go down on the intro quest to Twilight Highlands.
Which brings up a thought, why do the horde airships keep getting blown up. I claim alliance bias.
Amaxe Dec 9th 2011 11:12AM
Probably they keep blowing up and crashing because they're built by Goblins.
loop_not_defined Dec 9th 2011 11:23AM
Not technically gunships, though. Airships are pretty standard fair for the Horde, when you think about it. All of their mass transportation is done by airships, whereas the Alliance's transportation is all water-based ships.
raingod Dec 9th 2011 11:24AM
Cuz Blizz obviously has an Alliance bias :P
VioletArrows Dec 9th 2011 11:27AM
I know Oxhorn said gnomes are bad luck on ships, but it's really orcs. Think about every time you've ever seen an orc on or near a boat (especially *steering*) and how long that boat lasts. Think about how many oceans you saw or read about on Draenor.
kulhanek.jeff Dec 9th 2011 11:43AM
The fleet that goes to Twilight Highlands were gun ships, not air ships.
Kuro Dec 9th 2011 11:45AM

^Look Oceans! I think there's even a crashed ship somewhere in the Twisting Nether around Outlands.
Ilmyrn Dec 9th 2011 11:50AM
There are also the two gunships in Isle of Conquest. I realize that neither gets shot down/crashes, but as long as we're counting...
@Kuro: Yeah, it's just south of the ruined Kirin Tor town in Netherstorm, I think. Speaking of, that Kirin Tor town also has ruined docks and jetties from before Draenor went boom.
loop_not_defined Dec 9th 2011 11:52AM
No, the fleet that went to Twilight Highlands were airships with cheap guns installed along the sides of the deck. None of them were actual gunships.
If you'll recall, the lead goblin was freaking out after Garrosh ordered the planes to leave the fleet and attack the Alliance...leaving the airships largely defenseless.
Guttsu Dec 9th 2011 12:03PM
Sorry to burst your bubble, but they were Airships, with some small turrets on the sides. But still Airships.

@Kuro: How awesome would an Outlands-style Caverns of Time be? Take us back to an instanced Draenor! Deathwing's Lair raid!
