The Queue: These new white and silver Coke cans are freaking me out

I won't lie: I thought these new Coke cans were Diet Coke for about four days until I inspected them more closely. Seriously, it looked like my deli ran out of regular Coke and only stocked diet. Thankfully, this was not the case, and Coke is bringing back the red cans. I did start liking the white ones, though. Now I'm sad.
The header image today is a fantastic rendering of Matt'Mat the ogre by Matt Krotzer. If you are not familiar with Matt'Mat the ogre, you don't listen to enough of the WoW Insider Show podcast. So go listen. We've almost gotten enough drawings of Matt'Mat that we're going to have to make a gallery soon. Stay tuned.
On with the questions, then.
John asked:
The dungeon finder and LFR pairs you with anyone from your Battlegroup (or is it region wide now?). Do you know if it's possible to be paired with someone with the same name as you? Anyone got any fun anecdotes of that happening?
These days, all the Dungeon Finder, Raid Finder, and Battlegrounds stuff is done region-wide to shorten queues. For the most part it worked, I believe. You can get paired with people of the same name, but obviously it is very, very rare. I have never seen it happen, although I've seen two people with the same concept but different spellings, two distinct executions of the same joke. Fun times.
Zaet asked:
Lorewise, why does the horde use an alliance gunship in DS raid?
Last I know they where at each other necks, why does the alliance let the horde use their flying bathtub?
After Thrall takes his first shot at Deathwing with the Demon Soul, Deathwing gets a little mad and crashes into one of the closest objects to him, which happens to be the Horde gunship floating above Wyrmrest. Gordal had a great list in the comments of all of the Horde and Alliance gunships we've seen so far:
Icecrown
- Alliance - The Skybreaker
- Horde - Orgrim's Hammer
- Alliance - Llane's Oath
- Horde - Storm's Fury (destroyed)
- Alliance - The Skyfire
- Horde - Unnamed (destroyed by Deathwing, wreckage present in End Time)
Silly question, but I can't seem to find the answer anywhere: Is there a portal or an NPC to go back from Darkmoon Island? Or do you have to hearth?
Go to the boardwalk area. Right in the middle of the boardwalk, down on the pier, are two portals, one to Elwynn Forest and one to Mulgore. You're home free.
Pneazy asked:
Any chance Blizz will ever add extra stuff for the ethereal companion?
Most likely not. Once Blizzard ships those pets and such, it's usually a done deal. However, you never know what might appear on that little vendor. The Ethereal companion is one of the coolest companion pets out there -- it's a shame there isn't a more accessible way to get something like him.

2 separate queues.
The first is The Siege of Wyrmrest which contains the first 4 bosses.
The second is the Fall of Deathwing which is the last 4 bosses.
Shinae Dec 9th 2011 11:36AM
The first half is "Siege of Wyrmrest" with Morchok, Warlord Zon'ozz, Yor'sahj the Unsleeping, and Hagara the Stormbinder.

The second half is "Fall of Deathwing" with Ultraxion, that tauren boss, The Spine of Deathwing, and The Madness of Deathwing.
Check your in-game dungeon journal for details.
Grokmar Dec 9th 2011 11:37AM
Oh, and you must have the achievement for the The Siege of Wyrmrest before you can queue for the Fall of Deathwing.
Sarducci Dec 9th 2011 11:23AM
I think its at the point in the timeline where the infinites have successfully ended time, so its hard to say.
Boven Dec 9th 2011 11:25AM
I suspect the use of the Alliance gunship in Dragon Soul was due to the way the Horde ships are designed.
The two big bags from which Horde gunships have would get in the way of the dragons flying over and could potentially make targeting them as they approach or are harpooned a big ol pain in the butt.
Even so, I'm a little disappointed that we Horde types have to use what's essentially a boat with a bunch of box fans set on low speed strapped to it. At least the Horde design has some pretense at obeying the laws of physics.
Boobah Dec 9th 2011 1:18PM
Key word there is 'pretense.' Those dinky balloons on the Orgim's Hammer are about as likely to hold it in the sky as the fans on the Skyfire.
Andrew Dec 9th 2011 5:21PM
They definitely chose the Alliance ship because of Horde ship design, but I'd have thought it had more do to with the difficulty one would encounter in trying to halt and incapacitate a blimp as opposed to stopping a helicopter/plane/yacht/thing.
Jere Hunter Dec 9th 2011 11:29AM
I went to Blizzcon and on the card I got with the Murkablo is a 'Classifed ,to be reveald at blizzcon opening ceremony' covered image that I think is for SC2, but last year on my portraits it had 'blizzcon attendee' this year nothing just the activation date of the game. Is the redlit guy the Image?
Shinae Dec 9th 2011 11:30AM
Has anyone been able to explore the Old God "maw" to the north of Wyrmrest Temple in Hour of Twilight or Dragon Soul?
I'm guessing that there's an invisible wall to keep us out, but I am curious nonetheless.
Tala Dec 9th 2011 7:42PM
I actually have a directionally-challenged friend who missed the drakes and tried running out to either Zon'ozz or Yor'sajh. She got stuck out in the snow with no way back to the temple and then died somehow.
I'd guess the north one is set up similarly and you just can't reach it by foot.
cloudhopper013 Dec 10th 2011 1:00AM
There is, I tried. But you get to go in a few of them to fight some bosses in Dragon Soul! I'm not sure if you get to go in those specific ones, though.
jwblair2 Dec 9th 2011 11:36AM
Once upon a time there were goblins outside the cartel cities (Bootybay, Ratchet, etc) with repeatable quests that granted rep. Since Cata was launched I haven't been able to find them. Where did they go? With the new DMF and ways to gain rep there, it'd sure be nice to have those cartel rep machines back for those of us working on Insane in the Membrane.
bjorn9486 Dec 9th 2011 11:55AM
One you hit Neutral (IIRC) with the faction for that city, you can no longer turn in cloth rewards to them.
jwblair2 Dec 11th 2011 11:54AM
Understandably, however I'm still hated but more to the point the quest givers simply aren't there anymore.
Stouph Dec 9th 2011 11:38AM
Alliance gunships FTW!!!!!
Ilmyrn Dec 9th 2011 11:48AM
We do have the better ship designs AND better names, don't we?
Matthew Dec 9th 2011 6:42PM
Yes but Horde has Goblins. That's part good and part bad.
kingoomieiii Dec 9th 2011 11:45AM
It's hard to tell. As you see during the Madness fight, there are hardly any "dragon" parts left on Deathwing's body. He's basically congealed hate and corruption held into a dragon shape by his armor at this point. I'm not sure if that would really "rot".
Charlie Dec 9th 2011 11:48AM
I had a couple of people in my group who i guess lived together but played on different servers but got pulled into the same dungeon finder group. I had a hard time believing it at first but the way they were going on, I couldn't help but believe them.
Small world I guess
Boobah Dec 9th 2011 1:20PM
Or they queued as a RealID group.
