The Queue: My power, my pleasure, my pain
Welcome back to The Queue, the daily Q&A column in which the WoW Insider team answers your questions about the World of Warcraft. Mike Sacco will be your host today.
We like this song so much that we sang it twice at karaoke tonight.
techno-warrior6 asked:
Correct me if im wrong here but did ever add the role roll bonus in LFR and if they did do you ever think we are going to see anything like in 5-mans? it dosn't have to be a big advantage just one that stops me getting out rolled by a huntard, everytime the end time tank shoulders drop.
A CM did recently say that Blizzard wants to roll out the Raid Finder loot system to 5-mans, too. There are obviously some kinks to work out first, though.

Necromann asked:
Can we turn in darkmoon artifacts next month that we turned in this month? I know that we can't turn in the same artifact more than once during the same faire.
Yes, as far as we're aware, you should be able to do that.
Eldoron asked:
Hm I just checked the MoP talent calculator and it says that shamans get their mail armor specialization at lvl 50, while hunters get it at lvl 1. Anyone knows about that? Or it is just a glitch in the calculator?
Just a glitch. Hunters can't wear mail until level 40 anyway, so that perk would serve no purpose.
Elmo asked:
What are those maws around Wyrmrest anyway, are they like proper old gods like Yogg Saron and N'zoth or parts of their bodies or perhaps an old demigod or other underling??
They're "spawn" of the Old Gods, so we can probably consider them actual offspring; this is in comparison to Faceless Ones, who were (apparently) originally other races and were transformed into their current forms.
Baribal asked:
Are the loot lockouts from normal mode and raid finder shared? For some reason I thought this was part of the change after the "Paragon (and other guilds) Exploit"
So if I kill Ultraxion right now on raid finder and I kill him tonight in a guild raid, will I be able to roll on gear in both?
No and yes, respectively.
arnav.is asked:
I recently transferred my servers and was forced a name change on my year old lv 85 pally. When I looked up the old name on the new server on armory, it was an Inactive Lv 12 B.Elf Pally. I raised a ticket and blizzard said that they will look into it.
Have there been any such cases previously and how does blizzard usually handle this kind of stuff?
Blizzard has released names held by low-level characters in the past, but we don't know the actual policy on it. You'll have to wait and see.

Can Vial of the Sands be wrapped up for christmas?
Nathanyel Dec 11th 2011 2:12PM
Should be, yes, not unique and not stackable. No guarantee, but get some random BoE pet and try to wrap it, if that works, then the Vial works as well.
Nathanyel Dec 11th 2011 2:14PM

pretty much confirms what I said :P

Someone's lucky by the sounds of it. :D
Sappermentti Dec 11th 2011 6:02PM
i know i once wrapped a Mechano-hog, so i would expect that you can wrap the vial aswell
godking Dec 11th 2011 10:19PM
I wish you could wrap items and put in guild bank, as a way to have a little Christmas event. I tried to do this for my guild but the restriction on wrapping stopped it. So I just made letters with a number on them from 1 to 50 and put em in guild bank. People get to draw 1 a day then mail it to gm to claim there prize. So much freaking work. Would of been easier to just wrap the dang things

Why is there so little room for the Spine of Deathwing encounter? To add to the difficulty?
Also, does anyone think there will be another raid after Dragon Soul, like Ruby Sanctum? And is there any chance that boss will be an Old God?
Did the Aspects lose their powers or just their titles of Aspect and some of the perks that come with it, such as immortality? Do all dragon's belong to an aspect, or some variation of that aspect, i.e Netherwing, or is there some unique dragon species out there that is completely independent of the Aspects?
Noyou Dec 11th 2011 2:18PM
Until they prove otherwise, I think there will be the same "filler raid" as we have seen in the past.
jofbaut Dec 11th 2011 2:25PM
The Aspects lost their immortality in the same sense as how Night Elves lost their immortality. They still have a portion of their powers - a portion, seeing as they used up a crapton to power the Dragon Soul on two separate occasions. To paraphrase what someone said about the subject matter, it'll take another couple hundred years or so before we see Alexstrasza develop a single wrinkle.
There's plenty of time (lolololol) for Nozdormu to go crazy.
Methuus Dec 11th 2011 2:27PM
Yes, probably the layout issue on the Spine of Deathwing fight was specifically chosen both for difficulty and for atmosphere. A tight space to fight can make everything feel more tense, which is definitely what Blizzard wants on that fight. We're meant to feel that this is a desperate, risky move, jumping on Deathwing's back!
Whether there will be a raid mini-tier depends mostly on when Blizzard can managed to get Mists of Pandaria out. If they can get it out some time in the spring, then I expect we won't see another raid in Cataclysm. But if MoP doesn't come out until fall, then they'll have to put something out to tide us over.
It's unclear exactly what the Aspects were giving up. The lore information we're given is unclear and even somewhat contradictory at this point. Defintely, they don't have as much power as they used to. But are they completely powerless? Or somewhere in between? Blizzard just hasn't given us a clear picture on that yet.

To the best of our knowledge, dragons were created by the Titans from protodrakes. They only created the five Aspects, and the five dragonflights to aid the Aspects in their tasks. So, yeah, all dragons descend from one or more of the Bronze, Black, Red, Blue, or Green dragonflights, although not all dragons consider themselves members of those flights. For example, the Netherwing dragons are full-blooded Black dragons, but neither consider themselves members of the Black Dragonflight, nor do they follow Neltharion.
What, exactly, the Aspects gave up in their struggle with Deathwing is unclear. For all we know, they gave up absolutely nothing, but didn't want the mortal races to drag them into the war that is going to erupt again now that Deathwing isn't burninating the planet. It's also possible that the Aspects are now just relatively powerful dragons, and/or that the entire dragon species will have much shorter natural lifespans; how long that might be is unknown, since there've been Aspects as long as there have been dragons.
lookinginsetx1977 Dec 11th 2011 2:31PM
Blizzard has already said, no more raids or major content patches until the pre-expansion event. They said that Deathwing is the big bad of the expansion and always felt they made a mistake adding Sunwell after they killed Illidan back in Burning Crusade, since Illidan was supposed to be the big bad of that expansion.
So I am going with the whole thing of saying, no there will be no more raids or patches until MoP and we will probably be getting our beta keys around April and playing MoP come July. I seriously doubt we will be killing Deathwing for an entire year.
Methuus Dec 11th 2011 2:33PM
Oh, and it seems that, for dragons (and dragonkin), participation in one of the organized "color" dragonflights is a generally voluntary thing. There are several examples of dragons who don't follow the orders of the Aspect of their color.
That said, it seems that most dragons do decide to join their color's dragonflight for various reasons such as loyalty, duty, career satisfaction, or even lust for power. But it doesn't seem to be a literal compulsion.
However, going forward, I expect that we'll see more and more independent dragons because the Aspects have, by their own admission, pretty much ended their Titan mandated mission. So some of the purpose has gone out of the dragonflights.
icepyro Dec 11th 2011 2:33PM
You're on the Spine of Deathwing. He may be huge, but we are still talking about a subarea of a part of his back. Though I haven't seen it myself, I'm just guessing.
Yes and no, respectively. While the Sunwell Plateau outshone Illidan, Blizz has since been careful not to make a transition raid more important, badass, or quite as good as the main big bad raid since. I think they have stated something that more or less confirms this and it's not just that RS was a failure.
Since the game has not progressed past this moment it is hard to say. While I wish they had lost only their titles, I get the feeling they have lost most of their powers and may have reverted to being dragons that just happen to be certain colors. All dragons belong to some Flight, but if they really did lose all of their powers, then chances are that they will be less segregated after this. Due to the powers imbued upon them previously, if a new type came forward, they were granted a new designation (eg, Netherwing, Infinite, Twilight) and these are independent of the Aspects, but still considered their own dragon flight. I don't know what will happen if there is a mix without the powers. Will they really just resort to colors?
There is a dragon mount hinted to be coming with MoP, and whatever dragons are in Pandaria would be independent of all this Aspect business. Or maybe simply forgotten in time and would have bred themselves into a new species most likely.
Nathanyel Dec 11th 2011 2:38PM
They're still dragons, and very powerful ones. I still don't fully understand why they gave up their powers, they haven't really fulfilled their purpose (unless it was "defeat the one of us that would eventually go mad") they're just passing the task of guarding Azeroth on to the mortals.
Skarn Dec 11th 2011 3:46PM
The Spine encounter "area" grows as you blow off plates too.
DarkWalker Dec 11th 2011 4:20PM
Anyone else just kept thinking "Do a Barrel Roll" after seeing the Spine of Deathwing encounter? :)
Skarn Dec 11th 2011 10:00PM
Oh, he does! There is even an achievement for it: http://www.wowhead.com/achievement=6133
