Raid Finder items reclassified for intended classes

I am very glad that Blizzard is changing these items' classifications and making the Raid Finder even more fair for players. So far, the Raid Finder has been an enormous success, and with some tweaks and changes down the road, it's here to stay in a big way. Hit the jump for the announcement and full list of updated classes that can roll need on many Dragon Soul items in the Raid Finder.
Nethaera explains Raid Finder loot changes
As a part of the on-going evaluation of Looking For Raid and the loot system, we have recently implemented a change to the Looking For Raid Need Plus system. Weapons, trinkets, rings, neck pieces, shields, offhand items, and the Robe of Glowing Stone are now class-restricted to their intended users. With the speed at which a Raid Finder group moves through a zone, we've found that it makes it challenging for players to evaluate loot decisions – by class restricting these items, we hope that the natural behavior will have a more positive set of results for everyone involved. This change will not apply to normal or heroic raid or dungeon loot rules.
Raid Finder and Need Plus are both very new systems, and we're working to iterate on these systems rapidly to ensure that everyone has the best possible experience as we learn more about how players are using the system. Please keep in mind that this system is not considered complete and we have further plans to improve upon it within Mists of Pandaria.
If you looted an item from Looking for Raid which replaced another and you need Game Master assistance to recover your old item, please place a petition with the new item name, that you can no longer use it - and the old item name you need restored. For more information on the affected items, please visit the Customer Support forums here- http://us.battle.net/wow/en/forum/topic/3729953854#1
We apologize for the inconvenience.

@Kithus:
That's not gaming the system. What the big guilds were doing was getting around the item drop lockout so people could get loot twice from the same LFR boss. Being in the same run now locks the person out of loot but not from having the item traded to them. That guild is just making sure that their people win the stuff. Its technically not exploiting, its just going to seem unfair to the other people who can't benefit from a group like that. Blizz really can't do anything about it.
AdamBudden Dec 14th 2011 10:48AM
Oh and clarification, I'm not approving of them doing it.
Philster043 Dec 13th 2011 7:09PM
Thank goodness. Trying to decide if I should roll on something or not, while trying to heal a group that doesn't stop to wait, can be a pain sometimes.
wyatt.tackel Dec 14th 2011 8:52AM
Noticed this tonight on the Raid Finder! What a welcome change.
Jeff (Not that one ^ ) Dec 13th 2011 7:16PM
Um, what?
"Ledger of Revolting Rituals - Druid, Priest"
Why are Shaman, who can use off-hand items, not allowed to roll on these? The Intellect increase (due to the socket/bonus) more than off-sets the minimal haste loss.
radda Dec 13th 2011 7:24PM
Because Shaman should be using sheilds instead, which Druids and Priests can't use.
Imnick Dec 13th 2011 7:30PM
I think they just did that in the interest of fairness so that there wasn't one class with extra off hand options over everyone else when they itemised the shield specifically for those classes
Can't say for sure though, I'm not Blizzard
ElainaTV Dec 13th 2011 7:31PM
Because there is a sheild (although not as good) that they can roll on that Druids and Priests cant. It's to try and distribute loot fairly.
Jeff (Not that one ^ ) Dec 13th 2011 7:34PM
So if you're only an LFR raider, you're relegated to second-best off-hand because of "fairness".
Riiiiiiiight.
Caylynn Dec 13th 2011 7:43PM
Hey, you can use an int shield, which priests and druids can't use. So quit whining. And you can still use a staff, something that paladins can't do.
Everclear Dec 13th 2011 8:01PM
You can also enchant your shield. Stop whining.
Oteo Dec 13th 2011 8:07PM
Also, I've been told before that shields have a higher stat budget than an offhand, so a shaman not using a shield is doing their self a disservice. I don't know if this is still true, though.
Jeff (Not that one ^ ) Dec 13th 2011 8:09PM
Everclear, you can enchant an off-hand as well. That's why it's called "Enchant Off-Hand - Superior Intellect". The only difference is the +60 (+77 for JCs) intellect from the socket + bonus.
Kylenne Dec 13th 2011 8:21PM
@Jeff: Why do you need perfectly itemized everything if all you're doing is LFR? You are already "relegated" to ilvl 384 gear. People doing normal difficulty raids can't even get perfectly itemized gear in every slot (just ask any healing priest that ran Firelands when it was current). This is by design, Blizz has said so many times. It's nothing new, and the fact that you're crying over an item having less than 100% perfectly itemized stats for your spec in the easy mode stuff you're doing is just silly. The difference in stats is negligible and will have no bearing on your performance in the lower difficulty environment that is LFR.
This isn't like ICC where your BiS gear is cloth. Take your spell shield and stop crying.
Jeff (Not that one ^ ) Dec 13th 2011 8:32PM
@Kylenne
I just don't think they should do something fundamentally unfair in the interest of fairness. If a person can use an item and it is properly statted (not like a Shaman rolling on a Strength shield or Warriors rolling on Intellect) then they should be able to roll on it.
I'm not "crying", I'm raising a legitimate issue. With the exception of the shield, Elemental Shaman, Restoration Shaman, Balance Druids, Restoration Druids, and Priests all use the same 2H, MH/OH--except two of these specs aren't allowed the best item, just second-best.
Skyrei Dec 13th 2011 8:44PM
Ah ha! Blizzard doesn't like Staff Shamans either!
Dan Dec 13th 2011 8:54PM
How is it "fundamentally unfair" that paladins and shaman can't roll on offhands when they have a shield made specifically for them that priests and druids can't use at all?
Jeff (Not that one ^ ) Dec 13th 2011 9:06PM
@Dan because Shaman take a 40 Int hit as a result of it.
warpknight6 Dec 13th 2011 9:20PM
So much complaining.
Sigh.
Dan Dec 13th 2011 9:29PM
"I need the extra Intellect" is not a good reason for taking it away from a priest or druid for whom the OH is their ONLY option (not counting staves). You have to think from the perspective of a priest or druid that loses that roll, only to have the shield drop later which they cannot even equip.
