Blue posts
Laissez faire
I think others here have already explained it well enough, but I'll just confirm that we don't want to interfere with prices on the Auction House. Players are free to attempt to sell items at the price they feel it is worth :-)
Looking For Raid-Need Plus Updates
As a part of the on-going evaluation of Looking For Raid and the loot system, we have recently implemented a change to the Looking For Raid Need Plus system. Weapons, trinkets, rings, neck pieces, shields, offhand items, and the Robe of Glowing Stone are now class-restricted to their intended users. With the speed at which a Raid Finder group moves through a zone, we've found that it makes it challenging for players to evaluate loot decisions – by class restricting these items, we hope that the natural behavior will have a more positive set of results for everyone involved. This change will not apply to normal or heroic raid or dungeon loot rules.
Raid Finder and Need Plus are both very new systems, and we're working to iterate on these systems rapidly to ensure that everyone has the best possible experience as we learn more about how players are using the system. Please keep in mind that this system is not considered complete and we have further plans to improve upon it within Mists of Pandaria.
If you looted an item from Looking for Raid which replaced another and you need Game Master assistance to recover your old item, please place a petition with the new item name, that you can no longer use it - and the old item name you need restored. For more information on the affected items, please visit the Customer Support forums here- http://us.battle.net/wow/en/forum/topic/3729953854#1

"If you looted an item from Looking for Raid which replaced another and you need Game Master assistance to recover your old item, please place a petition with the new item name, that you can no longer use it - and the old item name you need restored."
That's not going to be a fun couple of days...

Is it just me or.. What does this even mean?:/
Is it an LFR bug that i don't know about?
Noyou Dec 14th 2011 2:03AM
It means people were taking too long to fig out if they could use an item so they are putting class only restrictions on it to make it much faster. The problem is, it is going to change a current item you have, which now may say mage or priest and you are using it on a warlock or etc. The bigger problem is you may have sold/DE's the item you replaced and thus now have to fill out a GM ticket and get your item restored. Fun times in the CM department. And for people who probably don't read sites like this or forums- ouch. I know it was probably something they needed to do but man. I feel bad for those CM's.

Since they changed the loot rules so that people can't use gear they shouldn't be wearing/rolling on, I'm guessing a lot of folks are going to log on this week to gear that's now back in their bags and red. They can then petition a GM to go rooting through the trash for their old gear so they can put that back on.
Honestly their punishment for taking something another class legitimately needed should be to go shirtless or in a green off the AH, but I'm bitter. >_>

@Violet
I agree with you, if you can prove the person was being a jerk and not totally unaware. I know it is hard to fathom that someone could gear up to 372 and still be totally clueless about how certain things worked. I had guildies with max level toons in wrath, who still couldn't figure out how need before greed worked when running their alts thru dungeons.
What they probably should have done is put a timer on the roll, if you don't roll in time you automatically pass, if no one takes it after everyone rolls, you then can pick it up. Come to think of it, I think there is a timer on the rolls, so I don't know that this is even necessary.
I am all for helping those who aren't familiar with things, but at some point, you have to not do it at the expense of 24 other people.

A guildie who looted the now-healer restricted neck on his mage reported an estimated wait of 5 days. So yes, I feel bad for the CMs as well.
As for poor decisions being made in haste during the lfr... If they don't want to wait the 30 seconds it takes me to read the stats, I can catch up. XD
SamLowry Dec 14th 2011 3:15PM
The wait time for tickets over the weekend was 7 days. Yes, seven, and that came up because I won a need roll but didn't get the item. Luckily, someone in the raid pug griping about their own looting issue mentioned that you have to loot the boss yourself to receive the item, and so I was able to run back after we'd down the next boss and was still able to pick it up.

Unfortunately, this desire to not interfere with the AH also means they will let bots run the market. The glyph market on my base server is dead because 2 bot trios post and someone is making the effort to consistently undercut them. This is great for glyph purchasers (12-13 gold glyphs), but horrible for those wanting to make money off all the tedium.
The posting patterns of the bot trios is clear and one was even suspended for a week during the summer, but they have continued on. Some money could have been made without them, but the attempt to undercut them seems to just be killing the market rather than getting rid of them. :(
thawedtheorc Dec 14th 2011 9:59AM
I believe you are missing the point to why they will not get into the business of messing with prices in AH.
It would be a nightmare for Blizzard to take the time and real world money to make sure every common item that is traded in AH is not being sold by a bot. In fact it is impossible. Actions like that are like trying to mold a water with your bare hands.
Central control on prices always creates unintended consequences as well.
Being older, I can remember watching/reading the news and seeing how the Soviets were always trying to artificially control prices on anything that was low in supply and high in demand. It ALWAYS created a chain reaction for transporting and distribution costs.. which the government had to also try to control... and so on and so on. Strikes would break out because those who did most of the work, ended up being the ones who suffered the most.
People are always going to complain if they cannot sell items for what they want in AH. If you go into collusion with other players to try to set the prices in AH, you are just as guilty as those you accuse of botting and that means you deserve to be undercut.
If botting is the problem, then banning would be the appropriate solution. Not mulit-day suspensions.
Nyold Dec 14th 2011 11:11AM
I don't know how you know if they're bots and not just players who are very dilligent, and that one week in the summer he was just out for vacation. If they're taking a loss and being stupid (albeit very regularly), then it's their problem. You can go and find new markets. Laissez faire is laissez faire.
Worst case, you can be a working class and do the dailies.
ukwest Dec 14th 2011 11:48AM
Not influencing the market has nothing to do with allowing bots. Blizz has a pretty clear policy against botting and when they are caught they are banned. Just because you can't make a profit in a contested market doesn't mean everyone else is cheating. Try under cutting hard and make them lose money. Try to control the raw material side by buying out the herb supplies. Or just try another market.
andrews Dec 14th 2011 5:17PM
The consistency of repost timing and quantity posted indicates a non-human. No single human can post new items (never cancelling) around the clock for months at a time....
Moanique Dec 14th 2011 2:15AM
"It means people were taking too long to fig out if they could use an item so they are putting class only restrictions on it to make it much faster."
That's a nice way of saying it. Another way would be to say that people were rolling need on anything and everything whether they could use it or not. So if they won a roll on something that is now off their particular table, the item will either turn red, go away or some combination of the two.
If, in the meanwhile, you DE'd your old gear or vendored it, you'll be needing it back. And that's where the petition comes in.
Nathanyel Dec 14th 2011 3:09AM
I'm gonna go out on a limb and say that enchanters that won an item via need+ that isn't actually profitable to them didn't equip that one and disenchanted their old item - they just disenchanted the new item.
On purpose.
Chance Dec 14th 2011 4:11AM
I was in a group with a mage that needed on every piece of gear that dropped that he could. He got a ring, robes, and something else that all had spirit on them. Immediately after he received a crystal, and after inspection was not wearing the item(s) he won. Basically what I'm saying is, Nathan, you are correct.
I'm a bad person for the way I roll though I guess. I queue as dps or tank because I always forget to unclick dps on my druid and roll on agi gear. I do however pass on caster leather, and inform the raid beforehand that I'm rolling as feral and do carry my weight as a boomy. I forsee a fix in the future preventing me from doing this, but then ill just have to start farming 2 sets of feral gear again and make my dps spec kitty.
Noyou Dec 14th 2011 4:57AM
@chance
The way you roll is fine if you are in a guild or friendly group and let them know, prior. You should also give priority to those rolling for their main spec. While feral might be your main, if you are in another spec, you should consider the other your offsepc. It's probably even OK in a LFR/pug but given the nature of people not paying attention, someone is likely to get butthurt if you whip out a need roll.
SamLowry Dec 14th 2011 3:19PM
I do believe I saw a blue post recently where they're attempting to block people from rolling on items they already have. That should cut down somewhat on need griefing and DE runs.
Marcblack Dec 14th 2011 8:03AM
It's sad to see a good feature (LFR) turning into a headache.
jj Dec 14th 2011 8:55AM
You mean to tell me that you can actually win gear that drops in the LFR???
RS Dec 14th 2011 12:15PM
It can Happen! I won a belt! I didn't think it was possible. I probably won't get another piece till spring though
