Breakfast Topic: What are your goals for Winter Veil?

The Feast of Winter Veil is a two-and-a-half-week-long, pine-scented, in-game holiday consisting of dwarves, off-brand orc Santas, and unappealing spiced cookies. And who could forget all the gift-giving, murder, comic mischief, getting this close to regionals, and ... please tell me they're not going to make us go back to Outland again. No, seriously. Please. There are space ghosts there.
But enough about the sheer terror of being haunted by the specters of the dead and feeling their cold essences devour your soul -- this is Winter Veil holiday! So what are your plans for the holiday? Are you going to be saving Metzen the Reindeer this year? Or are you going to be all Scrooge-like and let this holiday pass you by?
Working on achievements? The Overachiever is here to help! Count on us for advice on Azeroth's holidays and special events, including new achievements, how to get 310% flight speed with achievement mounts, and Cataclysm reputation factions and achievements.

Spreading holiday cheer. Lot's of holiday cheer. Yeah.
mem0ryburn Dec 15th 2011 1:22PM
I'd have more holiday cheer if I could figure out how to get this damned Metzen quest/achievement/whatever it is. Killed that damned Greench twice now.

I always feel like this will be the monthly event i do to start on "what a strange trip." But i always end up doing a few of the easier things for small achieves and then for some reason lose all will power to keep going. I Think ill sit this one out.
Swifteye Dec 15th 2011 8:09AM
I honestly doubt I'll be doing anything for the holiday; I'm just too busy doing dungeons!
I *just* got out of my very first Raid Finder and, despite being armed with absolutely no knowledge other than the "5 seconds or less" boss strats from this very site, it went super-well and I am psyched!
And I'm still running the new 4.3 5-mans as much as time allows.
I've been quite vocal in the past about my fear of doing endgame content because I'm "not good enough"... well I've finally shaken off the jitters, and I'm trying to make up for lost time! I have a bunch of alts with no heirlooms... I have no time for silly Winter's Veil achievements; I have a boatload of JP that needs farmin', and I'm FINALLY not afraid to!
TL;DR: Uh... I'm a "Scrooge", I guess? ^_^;;

Hit the level cap....
....in SWTOR.
jfofla Dec 15th 2011 3:12PM
And find you have nothing to do because you blew past The Story in a game based on Story.
Corvana Dec 15th 2011 4:20PM
To be honest, I don't go out of my way to "power-level" characters the first time around--I actually do take time to experience the story. But my most recent experience in the SWTOR beta leads me to believe that it's not entirely unfeasible to hit the cap in a couple of weeks of play, even playing at a normal pace. Which is fine, as there are 7 other classes--and their accompanying storylines--to play with.
In any event, I won't be playing WoW for...a while, so I guess I'm very much in the Scrooge category. Bah, humbug, and all that. :)
Pantro Dec 15th 2011 8:13AM
Aside from leveling my warrior and doing arenas... nothing :p
Scooba Dec 15th 2011 8:47AM
I've had my Drake for over a year so I always feel disinclined to do the holidays. Blizz should start up some damn 2 and 3 yr mounts and ill be all over it.
Revnah Dec 15th 2011 8:24AM
I've been working on the "What a long, strange trip it's been" on two of my characters all year, and now I'll get to finish it! *happy troll*
:-)
Noyou Dec 15th 2011 8:36AM
Woot! Good luck! I need to hit 2 races with snowflakes to get my proto on my 2nd toon :)

I've always found in game holidays tacky and don't really take part in them, they don't feel part of the world to me. Winter Veil does give me nostalgia however for when the game came out back in 2004, and how it seemed the winter veil lights were up for like, months before a patch took them away.
Noyou Dec 15th 2011 8:39AM
I always thought in game holidays were a nice break from the grind. I also think they supplement my own enjoyment of RL holidays. Especially winter veil. I'm not sure what is tacky about them. People selling holiday stuff for large sums of gold, maybe. But the holidays themselves have been nothing but fun.

"it seemed the winter veil lights were up for like, months before a patch took them away."
not a patch... the person who decorated was lazy and was going to leave them up all year until his wife complained.
Nina Katarina Dec 15th 2011 8:28AM
Not killing my family.
I know, I'm aiming high.
Swifteye Dec 15th 2011 8:43AM
My family lives 600 miles away; they'd have to do something reeeeeeeeally awful to make me go that far outta my way to kill 'em...
... my *boyfriend's* family, on the other hand.......
*cough*
Good luck to you in your non-familicidal holiday endeavors! :-p
Lampp Dec 15th 2011 8:35AM
Greench punching!
puffcake Dec 15th 2011 8:39AM
It starts today, yes? I just logged in, where is it?
eirinefrostblade Dec 15th 2011 10:09AM
Ironforge or Orgrimmar, respectively. Happy Winter Veil!
puffcake Dec 15th 2011 10:45AM
Thanks! I didn't realize the event didn't kick in until 8:00 PST, so I was a bit confused. Happy Winter Veil to you :)
