The Queue: Donksliders 2

I expected the body type slider in The Old Republic to maybe increase my female character's muscle mass, but it turns out I could have just removed "muscle m-" from that phrase. Meanwhile, guys get wholly different body types, including a huge, muscle-bound one. Just because it's sci-fi doesn't mean we're free from fantasy body type conventions, apparently.
Lillyth asked:
So my question is: would running organized betting on 1v1 Duels, /roll, lotteries, etc. violate the ToS / EULA so long as any gold earned was used for in-game purposes only?
As Mat McCurley explained recently, running a gambling operation of any kind is against Blizzard's policies. Doesn't matter if it's a lottery or a straight-up bet on the outcome of a duel -- it's still against the rules.
Hoofio asked:
Nevermind all this monks-talents-pandas-pokemon stuff what about the real question for MoP ... what's the monk's colour going to be? Seems to me dark green is the biggest space on the spectrum..
Blizzard answered this recently: The devs chose a jade green color, though it's subject to change if necessary.
Possum asked:
Is it a good idea to get the Curse Downloader? I've heard that there are/have been security issues with it so I'm wary but I'm so damn sick of re downloading all my addons manually every patch.
There's risk in using any third-party program to get your addons, but the Curse downloader is pretty safe as far as those kinds of programs go. Combine it with a normal antivirus/antispyware program and savvy internet habits, and you should be just fine.
Ilmyrn asked:
Is there any way to change what login screen appears? Personally, I liked the Vanilla loading screen of the Azeroth Dark Portal best, and it would be awesome if there was some way to still use that one.
No way that's legal under the Terms of Use, no. You're stuck with Deathwing until Mists of Pandaria launches.
Brian asked:
What did akama do ingame before bc
Well, he didn't do anything in WoW itself prior to The Burning Crusade. Before his appearance in BC, though, back before even the First War, Akama was the guardian of the Temple of Karabor on Draenor. When the orcs, under control of the Burning Legion, began attacking the draenei, Akama helped the survivors evacuate the temple. During his time in hiding, he was exposed to the same fel energies that mutated the orcs and his fellow draenei, giving him the appearance we're familiar with today.
In the Warcraft 3 expansion The Frozen Throne, Kael'thas and Lady Vashj came through the Dark Portal just as Akama was attempting to fight off an army of demons, including the pit lord Magtheridon. After Kael and Vashj aided him and defeated Magtheridon, he pledged his loyalty to their good friend Illidan, which didn't get him very far, as we see in BC.
jfofla asked:
Now that SWTOR has crashed and burned, how long before the GW2 is the WOW Killer hype starts?
TOR hasn't even officially launched yet. I think it's a little early to be singing funeral dirges.

@ Rainstorm:
We already go have a bunch of Jennifer Lopezes running around in WoW.
Please take a look at Draenei females...

GW2 ain't gonna kill WoW. WoW is killing itself is sub numbers are right.
And anyways, even Arena Net has said that naming a game a WoW Killer is bad karma. As I believe an interview put it;
'Oh, GW2 can and will co-exist with WoW, but can WoW co-exist with GW2?'
Being a B2P game instead of a F2P or P2P certainly helps it.

I have to admit... for all the "extra" customization they put into SWTOR, they played it awfully safe with the females.
Male characters can be anything from a young boy to Orson Wells at his worst... while females get skinny, "normal", tall and "slightly stockier than normal".
And, while i applaud their inclusion of asian and african facial types, there is very little difference between most female faces. Men get the big noses, chins, etc, while females get slightly adjusted cheekbones.
Still an improvement over WoW, but i look on games like Aion and TERA with envy. (not for gameplay, for character creation)
DarkWalker Dec 19th 2011 1:30AM
You don't even have to look just at new games to find good customization options. Take a look at City of Heroes, a game that is actually older than WoW; while the graphics do look dated, it offers more customization options than most current MMOs.

So Ive been trying really hard to pull up my damage and everything I do doesnt seem to help too much. Im a cat DPS and ive got a solid DPS of 12-13k on a dummy, ilvl 165, doing the new 4.3 heroics and im always bottom DPS. Ive gone over spec, glyphs, got some addons to help with rotation but im never really breaking the 13k damage mark. Is there anything else Im missing? Im gemmed and enchanted for agility and Im not sure what else to do... And y comments from you guys would be helpful! :)

Go to http://www.askmrrobot.com/wow/gear for gemming, enchanting, and reforging. Load your character in and hit optimize. Read any Feral Kitty articles posted under Shifting Perspectives on this site. Read and master this Elitist Jerks thread: http://elitistjerks.com/f73/t127445-feral_cat_cataclysm_4_3_dragon_soul/
You're doing something wrong, and I don't mean to be condescending. I believe you meant 365 ilevel in your post, and at around there I was doing upwards of 20k. Figure out what you need to fix and get it fixed, and your DPS will go up exponentially.
Neirin Dec 18th 2011 1:00PM
Some of it might be that you aren't in a raiding scenario. I have a variety of dps toons that tend to do a good 10% more dps against a raid boss rather than in a heroic. Some of that is buffs, some of that is the boss staying alive long enough for your rotation to do its thing. Still, probably a good idea to look through the links above and see what you can improve. If you're really desperate for extra dps, using consumables makes a surprising difference. Flask+food is 390 agi - that's basically wearing an extra piece of gear.
downesy93 Dec 18th 2011 1:10PM
Try looking at www.noxxic.com
This is a brilliant site for basic improvement is rotation, speccing, gemming, enchanting, etc, without having to worry about the headaches that some of the theory crafting on Elitist Jerks and other similar sites involve.

One of the reasons I avoid Massively nowadays (apart from the eye-burning colour scheme) is that somehow all the articles turn into WoW-bashing ones - even the writers only ever give grudging props to it.
I don't want this site to devolve into the same thing with regards to TOR. While I was installing TOR and putting in my early access code I was happily redoing my WoW sub for another 3 months.
Now for me this is going to be a very quiet time in WoW, the latest patch had pretty much nothing interesting for me in it, I don't raid, pvp, hated pretty much all of the cata 5 man dungeons (yes I started as a tank and pugs completely destroyed any love for them I might once have had) and have no interest in extra grind being disguised as more dailies - I want more content, not more dailies please (and I don't particularly care what my shoulder pieces look like). So TOR has come at the perfect time for me. I'll still be logging in for guild events. But I'll be trying something a bit different, but yet familiar enough to be able to dive straight into for a few months and then I'll see what happens. Regardless I won't be leaving WoW, it can't be long until the expansion come out - can it ?
I don't know if anyone has really labelled TOR as a 'WoW beater', for a start it's sci-fi so should appeal to a completely different demographic. The devs even said they looked up to WoW. Compare that to Rift, which was very aggressively marketed as a 'WoW beater' but which fell flat on it's arse (I didn't even do the free month as I felt it had no soul, ironic really).
So TOR as the game to kill of WoW ? No, but it looks like a damn nice change of pace for a while.
Shammwich Dec 18th 2011 12:41PM
I've noticed that too about massively, resulting in my going from visiting every day to never. Not everyone has to love wow, but don't act like you're better than me cause you play something that's not WoW.
Lupos Dec 18th 2011 3:06PM
I agree, patch 4.3 was really a let down for me. It was hardly a content patch and really fell flat. Transmogrification and void storage are hardly content patch level features and super easy new 5 mans with a short raid are not compelling content. Plus the Darkmoon Faire revamp which is only once a month. Overall it feels Cataclysm just fizzled out and TOR, luckily for BioWare, came at a great time when WoW is really in the slumps content-wise. I love WoW to death and don't regret any of the money spent but the direction it seems to be taking is saddening to me. Just my two cents
brian Dec 18th 2011 12:30PM
Wow's sub numbers are a pattern. At the end of every expantion it goes down and at the release of a new expantion it reaches a new peak. Just watch, when mop comes out I wouldn't be suprised if we had about 15mil subs.
raingod Dec 18th 2011 12:52PM
While I'm not sure MoP will draw in 5 million more people, I can see it getting back to 12 million maybe.
As for ToR, tried the beta and didn't care for it. Granted I'm not a big SW fan, but do like sf, and this didn't cut it for me at all.

"So my question is: would running organized betting on 1v1 Duels, /roll, lotteries, etc. violate the ToS / EULA so long as any gold earned was used for in-game purposes only? "
The answer to this question is wrong. Gambling is not illegal. Advertising for gambling in any public channels is illegal, so you can only really do it as a private venture. If you keep it out of public channels it is perfectly alright by their rules as long as you don't break any others.
justarb Dec 18th 2011 4:34PM
Blizzard CMs have stated several times in the forums that gambling *is* permitted, but *advertising* gambling is not allowed.

Can Firefly be rezzed? Or just hopeless dream.
http://bernardin.tumblr.com/post/14182869809/could-netflix-bring-firefly-back-from-the-dead
Ringo Flinthammer Dec 18th 2011 12:49PM
The cast has moved on to other assignments. Netflix is not going to pay Fillion more to do Firefly than he makes for doing Castle.
Extaminos Dec 18th 2011 1:07PM
Other than Fillion, the other cast members don't have steady work (This is Chuck's last season so Baldwin will be unemployed.) so I can see them on board, dunno about Wash and Book since they're dead. BTW it was Fillion who tweeted this news and he loved working on Firefly, so maybe if Castle tanks in ratings....(doubtful though)
