I don't think its necessarily fair to compare this to other MMOs that have "gone against WoW" and then "failed spectacularly" because Star Wars is pretty ridiculously well known as an IP and therefore gives it an advantage over a brand new IP like RIFT or a smaller IP like Age of Conan.People played RIFT expecting it to be WoW but better, and when it didn't really hold up, many of them left. People are flocking to play SWTOR because they can be a jedi and sith and all that silly George Lucas nonsense, and from what I've heard it doesn't disappoint (save for all the people who didn't get early access).I have a feeling that even if this game doesn't necessarily win over the strict MMO crowd (which I don't think it will, as I've heard it described as Mass Effect that begrudgingly has an MMO in it), it'll still stay pretty popular because its got Star Wars in front of it. You may have people who've never heard of Warcraft outside the South Park Episode, but you'd be hard pressed to find someone who doesn't know what a Jedi is.
