After more than three weeks of intense strategizing, planning, fighting,
scandals, and more, the race to world-first heroic Madness of Deathwing kill is over. KIN Raiders, the group that swept by
Paragon, Blood Legion, and the rest, for the world-first heroic Spine of Deathwing kill took their time advantage and
pressed on. Only one other guild, the Korean team In extremis, has downed the Spine of Deathwing on heroic mode, so not many people were even currently working on the fight of the instance.
KIN Raider's kill happened in 25-man mode, an interesting departure from many of the world firsts now happening in 10-mans after being forced to raid light when raiders were
banned for exploiting the Raid Finder for extra loot. Blood Legion also rounded out the list with many top kills on 25-man mode, but in the end, it was a 25-man Korean guild that swooped in and took the top spot.
Congratulations to KIN Raiders on their first kill of heroic Madness of Deathwing.

Seriously?
Andrew Dec 20th 2011 12:03PM
Really? Do you *honestly* believe that Blizzard, who know they have a leaking fanbase and have been working to keep players happy, would allow one of their employees to help a guild cheat their way to a first kill, which is EXACTLY what they banned scores of accounts for just a few weeks ago?
loop_not_defined Dec 20th 2011 12:03PM
GMs regularly sit in on potential world first kills.
Andrew Dec 20th 2011 12:13PM
Loop, you mean that for the past few weeks most of the high-end raiders have had GMs just sitting there, watching them as they attempt and fail at killing heroic bosses? How does Blizz have the manpower for that?
Sunaseni Dec 20th 2011 12:29PM
Blizzard can spare a GM or two on the first Heroic kills of the last boss in order to inspect if the fight's working correctly (since it's not tested, for obvious reasons). Paragon's world first Sinestra was hot-fixed midraid, so they had to constantly adjust strategies when things about the fight suddenly changed on the next attempt.
Skarn Dec 20th 2011 1:22PM
@Andrew
It's typically not that much manpower, acutally. How many guilds have even killed Spine on Heroic? Just two. So there's only two guilds that could even be attempting Heroic Madness. That would only take 2 GMs. Or if they want 24 hour "coverage" then 3 GMs for each guild, so 6 GMs total.
Other world first races have had more competition, like Ragnaros, but the numbers of guilds in the race is always fairly small, so it's not much manpower to watch 'em all.

It's one of those "damned if they do, damned if they don't". I suspect the Gnome GM in question had her picture taken with them to confirm to those naysayers in the West (ie. patrons of MMO Champs, WoW Forums and other sore losers) that KIN indeed down'd this phase without cheating. But this has obviously spun it's own bizarre and isane (and inane) conspiracy theories and controversies...
...get over it folks, KIN won. They beat the Europeans. They beat the Americans. Hands down and with flying colors. Time to move on. /shrug

GM's showed up on the damage meters during Paragon's Sinestra progression (Damage taken, not damage done) and a former guildie of mine actually spoke to a GM who was sitting and watching his guild progress Ragnaros during Vanilla. "Don't mind me!"

Math is hard: 2 tanks, 5-6 heals leaving 17-18 dps. Even if they brought all legendary casters they still had no more legendaries in raid than BL. Plus the double lockout only went in affect at the end of october...and only for FL. Grats for great strat is all that needs to be said.
Sansarya Dec 20th 2011 12:05PM
Exciting news! Congrats to KIN!

World First 10 mans are near meaningless, because whether or not they're hard or not (Loleroc), 10 mans are considered by the competitive guilds as mickey mouse content that they only run because 10 man has a higher player to loot ratio and allows them to work on 2.5 legendaries during H-FL grinds. Grats to KIN and all, I'm sure it was a ball-busting fight, but let's not even pretend that groups like Paragon would ever be given world first titles running 10 man, they were just spinning their wheels and doing what they could in hopes that the 25 race would take long enough for them to get back into the 25 content.
Mcdubs Dec 20th 2011 12:31PM
Ummm...their kill was on 25.
Sunaseni Dec 20th 2011 12:33PM
The guild IS a 25-man guild.
adamjgp Dec 20th 2011 2:40PM
Oh, and 25man has a higher loot to raider ratio than 10.
10man - 2 pieces of eq drop (1 per 5 raiders)
25man - 6 pieces of eq drop (1 per 5 raiders + 1 bonus)
Not sure if trolling...
or just uninformed.
Ianmis Dec 20th 2011 4:37PM
Here's the really funny part, I believe it was Greg (might have been another) that mentioned that Korea considers 10 man to be the harder content. Which actually makes sense, since in 10 man, if one person screws up then it's probably a wipe, where as in most 25 man fights that I've seen, 5 people could screw up and the boss still gets downed.
Tri Dec 20th 2011 12:33PM
Yeah, it's funny how -not cheating- is now considered a -head start-
Hater's gonna hate..
Tri Dec 20th 2011 12:34PM
reply-fail.. sorry :(
Roy Inverse Dec 20th 2011 1:02PM
Now lets just wait theres no "they explioted so the kill dosnt count" from blizz.
Mackenzie Dec 20th 2011 1:06PM
For Glorious Leader?
Skarn Dec 20th 2011 1:26PM
I'm surprised how quickly the Madness kill came after the Spine kill. Perhaps Spine is the hardest fight this tier?
Hmm, well, maybe I have some hope of clearing Heroic Dragon Soul. Maybe. Hah.
