Maybe the reason Tyrande's been quiet for most of World of Warcraft is because she's preggo and wants to keep the baby safe.
Night Elves probably have a long gestation period, given their lifespans; so that would set her conception date as shortly after Malfurion blew up the world tree.
Further evidence of this would be the shotgun wedding Tyrande and Malfurion pulled off just before the Cataclysm.

This is a cool theory. However, I quibble with assuming that long lifespan = long gestation. In the animal kingdom, gestation time is linked to birth weight, not lifespan. Elephants, which are huge, have a two year gestation, whereas tortoises, which have tiny babies but live for 170ish years, gestate only a few months. Given night elves' size and assuming their babies are the same proportions as human babies, we can estimate that they gestate for 50 weeks, or a bit under a year.
Yes, I'm a nerd and have thought way too hard about this. ;)
