This is a cool theory. However, I quibble with assuming that long lifespan = long gestation. In the animal kingdom, gestation time is linked to birth weight, not lifespan. Elephants, which are huge, have a two year gestation, whereas tortoises, which have tiny babies but live for 170ish years, gestate only a few months. Given night elves' size and assuming their babies are the same proportions as human babies, we can estimate that they gestate for 50 weeks, or a bit under a year.Yes, I'm a nerd and have thought way too hard about this. ;)
