I have to say I don't completely agree with your asessment of Malfurion. I'm not saying you don't have a valid point.
I like Mal, but I want to effing slap him across the face and say "for God's sake you hippy, DO something! Your people are dying!"
Seriously, who is Malfurion to make the decision to not let the elves have their immortality when he's been involved with the NE people jack didly squat?
That all said, I guess I just don't feel he goes that badly far as you describe, as it makes it sound almost malicious and capricious on his part.
The "Hush Tyrande" thing. I think it was in poor taste, but, the intent was not "hush up woman, men folks is talking". It was also thousands of years ago, both of them were different people, and think of how tumultuously emotional this time was with Illidan.
I really like Tyrande though. And not just because she looks good in heels!
There's times where I think it should have been Tyrande with Illidan. She would balance him out, and he would spur her to action. Turn Illidan lose on the horde and evenwithout demon powers he'd probably rend them out of ashenvale single handedly with a smile on his face.
If they came back, Tyrande would nuke them with Elune's blessing.
