The Queue: Morshed Khan the sitar player
Morshed Khan is an amazing sitar player. Also, he totally owns a restaurant that I eat at way too much.
slim1256 asked:
Do you think Blizz would consider not giving the role bonus to players rolling on a token for an item they already have equipped?
I ask, because - it doesn't seem that far outside the bounds of likelihood that you could go in there for weeks on end, and win nothing (especially if you're on a popular token - I'm looking at you, DK/Druid/Mage/Rogue token!). It's inordinately frustrating to run through both wings of the raid and get nothing, especially over multiple weeks - this is the voice of experience here.
I can see the potential for problems with that (e.g., people might be less likely to join an LFR if they feel like they can't win OS tokens...), but I'm curious to hear what others think?
I understand your loot pains and the logistical issues with the first round of rules for the Raid Finder. Loot has been and probably will always be a pain that way. I think that the loot system for Raid Finder is in its infancy. This is a feature that Blizzard has wanted to put out for a long time, ever since those Morhaime comments about how players are consuming a lot of "their" content too quickly. By creating Raid Finder, Blizzard has made raid content a lot more people's content. Over time, refinements to the loot system in Raid Finder, as well as new technology and tweaks to the existing loot rules, will make the next iteration of the Raid Finder that much better. Until then, we need to understand that this is version 1.0 and it will only grow and get better over time.
As for the idea of checking to see what people are wearing or looking into their bags, much like average ilevel does, the problem comes from dual spec issues and whether or not the system even supports it. To be honest, I'm not exactly sure how much of the technology is just cobbled together or if a whole new system had to be built from the ground up for Raid Finder. Over time, though, you'll see a refinement of the system and better loot rules for everyone.
Puntable asked:
Does anyone think the "luck of the draw" buff is really stupid? It makes it harder to do dungeons with friends and guildmates. Why not scrap the buff, and tune the dungeons for pugs to begin with?
Luck of the Draw actually helps random pick up groups succeed by lowering the threshold for DPS, healing, and tanking by artificially inflating a player's output. This compensation is needed for players in a setting where detailed communication is not paramount or expected. I have never been in the situation where someone said, "You know what would be a great idea? Ditching my friends for 10% extra healing." I just don't buy it.
Bdawg38 asked:
How do warriors charge underwater?
Excellent swimmers. Also, rage.
Skyburnone asked:
Why do some dwarves die in a belly-up position and others in a face-first fashion?
Center of gravity issues.
jcbuckle_hachey asked:
QftQ: Is it just me or is there A LOT of nefarious people in South Shore, noticed as I was rep farming? Has there been a KYL about it? As an Alliance player generally, it makes me a bit less sad of its treatment from the Horde after noticing all the naughty people hanging out there. Sorry if this has been covered before.
Well, everyone is someone before they become who they are. It was not only the people of Southshore but the events that transpired and the environments created that led them to
their ultimate destinies. Those naughty natives of Southshore also were gone well before the Forsaken invasion into the southern Lordaeron lands, Gilneas, and Hillsbrad. While I wouldn't be happy about Southshore's fate, it is interesting to see how many persons of note did in fact come from the little seaside town.

Q for the Q, Was wondering if it was possible to play WoW on a Samsung Galaxy 10.1 Tablet? if so, how?
Eros Dec 24th 2011 12:28PM
The tablet doesn't meet the minimum system requirements for WoW to run so probably not.
Ailuvan Dec 24th 2011 1:46PM
On the tablet itself, no.
That bring said, GameOn just recently released an Android client, and the reviews I've read say that the client is decent, and Wow isn't totally terrible over it, so that might do in an emergency. Maybe for questing, or wandering around doing Archaeology. I wouldn't expect to be able to raid on it.
Sounds like an experiment for the Insider team to try out when they quit screwing around with Razer's newest toy :-)

while it may not be technically possible, there are several methods that you can control your pc remotely. At that point, your computer runs the game, but you are controlling said computer. It will run like crap and you will have to turn down your graphics all the way, but it may work. I believe that is the closest you can at this time.

I use an identically specced transformer. I've tried a few remote access apps, for gaming they all suck. I may try the gameon one though.

Was there any other use for Deathwing's humanoid form, aside from artwork and getting punched in the face by Theldurin the Lost?
Jaq Dec 24th 2011 12:17PM
None. Though Theldurin punching him in the face WAS worth it though.
blancester Dec 24th 2011 12:24PM
Machinima.
alzeer Dec 24th 2011 12:45PM
shame it wasn't used more
i thought he had the coolest character design since the Licking
Bapo Dec 24th 2011 2:56PM
I'm terrified to know who this "licking" is. Sounds terrifying :P
Al Dec 24th 2011 3:32PM
Don't worry, It's not very effective.
Arrohon Dec 24th 2011 7:46PM
The cousin of the Lick King, for whom I wrote a very short story for. I'll repost in about an few hours... it's gonna take a long time to find.
Arrohon Dec 24th 2011 7:51PM
Wow, took a lot less time than I had thought. A nice page find plus remembering about a text about it before a friendship went sour helped a lot. Anyways... from the Queue on August 20th, The Lick King!
"Mmmm, the Lick King. Walking through Candyland with a single goal: how many licks does it take to reach the center of a tootsie pop? Suddenly the Lick King jumps out from behind a cotton candy bush and uses Frostmourne to turn you into a Frostie. Your friends try to help you but they are carried away by his flying candy cane soldiers and are dropped off Ice Cream Castle. The Lick King then starts to eat you until the popsicle your friend was in melts and he jumps out and cuts off the Lick King's tongue. Another friend that was hanging by licorice puts on the Lick King's Candy Corn helmet and becomes the next Lick King: Ruler of the Candy Cane Men."
No idea why I quoted myself. Deal with it ;)

And, to be pedantic, I'm not sure that we can assume that that actually is Deathwing's human form, because, as you point out, the only time we see it is in the "tall tales" that are told in the Badlands. And, obviously, those stories can't be taken as entirely true.
Now, of course, DW had various humanoid forms at various points in history. But my guess is that in his current form (RAGE!!! barely contained by magical elementium plates), he actually can't assume a humanoid form anymore.

Bit of a lighthearted question for the Queue today:
Did you get anyone you know in-game anything for the holidays? If so, what, and did you receive anything as well?
redwinger_6 Dec 24th 2011 12:43PM
My guild did a secret Santa thing, and our GL sent us all something. I got a pair of boots and a copy of the big book o beards for my dwarf hunter.
Mortenebra Dec 24th 2011 12:45PM
My dear friend, whom our guild met in-game by pure happenstance, gifted TWO-- not just one, but TWO-- Mechanohogs to me, with one for my husband.
He's always doing stuff like this and is kind of like the benevolent provider for our guild. He just loves farming and playing the AH and PvPing; never asks to do PvE stuff (though he will hop in for fun upon insistence) and just really likes being a part of our guild community. Our guild vault runneth over because him. And that aside, he's a great, kind man with a ton of wisdom and I've never heard him disparage anyone. Being Facebook friends with him actually made me like Facebook again. lol
As for me, I made chocolate cookies again for all of my guildmates :D What I do irl, I also do in game... Habits are hard to break.

Husband and I knew that we would be low on RL funds this year, so we got each other Winter's Veil gifts int he game. he got me several pets that i wanted (i collect them): Guardian cub, shimmering wyrmling, deweaponized mechanical rabbit thing, and an enchanted lantern (now I ahve the one from both factions). He even designed a scavenger hunt type game for me to guess the shimmering wyrmling :). I got him a Masterwork elementium deathblade (he was in the process of making one but hadn't got everything yet) and I leveled his archeology for him. I spent 4 hours a couple nights ago getting him to the point where he had the raptor mount (which was his main goal).
Nohting will top a couple years ago though when I spent 5 weeks grinding mats and gold to get him a Mekgineer's bike made. that was back when it was tougher to get that much gold gathered, so I worked my butt off.

Nothing from a player, but Dragon Soul was pretty nice to me the past two weeks. Three pieces of tier last week, one this week and the bow from our first Normal Madness kill! Also the Wrath trinket from LFR Spine yesterday. A crazy good pair of loot weeks for me.
What'd I give my guild? Next week off from raiding. ;)
