The Queue: Post-Winter Veil recovery

Today's edition of The Queue is going to be another short one. Right on the heels of the holiday, there weren't a whole lot of questions to work with. But that means all of you will ask plenty of wonderful questions today so we can get back on track tomorrow, right? Right!
beruchan13 asked:
don't you think there's just too many red gem slots in the new tier of gear? I understand red slots make gear feel more powerful, but red slots are also for almost every class, with maybe the exception of tanks, the most boring slot since there's no choice to be made, your primary stat goes there, period. With so many red slots it starts to feel like a gold sink rather than an upgrade, as well as driving the price of red gems up the roof.
The color of the slot doesn't matter much when reds are the best for almost everybody across the board anyway. Even if the slots were different colors, people would still fill them up with red gems. They might as well have no colors in the slots. I feel that Blizzard needs to stop and seriously rethink how it wants jewelcrafting and item customization in general to work, because this whole red gems are priceless, other colors are useless thing isn't fun or compelling for anybody. Except maybe the people getting rich off of selling red gems.
I feel that you're exactly right about gems being a gold sink rather than being part of your upgrades. If there are no decisions to be made when it comes to jewelcrafting and all everybody is going to do is stick the same gem in every slot ... the profession is a punishment for getting new gear. Getting upgrades doesn't feel good.
Necromann asked:
Isn't Deathwing's humanoid form used for a quest in Twilight Highlands?
Nope! Back in the Cataclysm beta, he appeared in his humanoid form for one single quest, but that was changed. He remains a dragon throughout those quests now.
Untopbubble asked:
A lot of the reason I have continued to play WoW is achievements. However I have also started leveling alts to try different classes. My biggest issue is that I love pvp as a holy pally but can't seem to get anything done as ret. This leaves a lot of the pvp battleground achievements out of reach. Is there hope that account wide achievements will allow me to grab those as a hunter, warr, etc? I just hit the 9000 mark the other day and would love to keep going but get discouraged about the thought. Any ideas?
What achievements in particular are you having trouble with as a holy paladin? Outside of holiday achievements, there aren't any PvP achievements that require killing blows, as mentioned by others in the comments yesterday. You can accrue honorable kills just by being a part of the action, damage or healing.
Edit: I was wrong. Wrecking Ball requires killing blows. Holy Shock, yay?
Kingofnot asked:
What's up with thos goblins in Area 52 with classic item sets for sale that they won't actually sell?
There's actually an achievement/feat of strength requirement for those, though it isn't made completely clear. Those items are limited to those who earned them legit back in classic World of Warcraft.

Is it too much to expect the Armory to be up and working over Christmas?

Armoury*
Alex Ziebart Dec 26th 2011 11:12AM
When something goes down and 95% of Blizzard's staff has been given the weekend off for Christmas ... yeah, it is.
lazymangaka Dec 26th 2011 11:23AM
*Armory
>.>
Imnick Dec 26th 2011 11:30AM
I wish dearly that it was called Armoury, but alas even the EU site uses the Americanised Armory spelling ):

They have family and friends to visit as well.
Cut them some slack.

Not having the Armory available for a day (and a half-ish, I think?) was annoying.
Not as annoying as it would have been if I had to be in the office working on a silly game (not even the game itself, but an accessory to the game) over Christmas.
I'm fine with their repair schedule.

I refuse to use American English in game. It drives people crazy sometimes in randoms. Leading the skittles boss is my favourite!
"So here's the COLOUR we're going to kill."
Makes me giggle when people question it.

It is too much to expect when most of Blizzard's employees are playing SWTOR for the holidays.
Al Dec 26th 2011 4:23PM
It probably is, given that they still haven't restored the posing option.
jeremyhe Dec 26th 2011 11:14AM
I thought Wrecking Ball required killing blows.

Just as an additional comment to the edit in the post;
you can also use Hammer of Wrath when in holy spec. Just hang out with a big group and spam holy wrath on targets that are being focused down.
used to steal all of my partners KBs in arena with that :P
boatarific Dec 26th 2011 2:38PM
err..
spam *Hammer of Wrath..
holy wrath wouldn't do much :P

Perhaps they've changed this, but it used to be possible to get Wrecking Ball in a vehicle in BGs... the siege engine in Isle of Conquest was how I got mine.

Has anyone been able to find ANY information ont he WoW Minis game?! I have a big collection of minis that have been looking forward to new team mates for ever now... I can't seem to find any info on if it'll ever be coming back. I would LOVE to find an Ony raid that slipped thru production or something... I was REALLY looking forward to that!
matthew Dec 26th 2011 2:24PM
Yeah, actually I know what's up. So, you might recall that awhile back, Blizzard decided not to renew their contract with Upper Deck Entertainment (UDE). Since UDE were the ones making the Trading Card Game and the Minis, both were up for grabs. Cryptozoic snatched up the TCG, but Minis were lost in the shuffle. So, the Onyxia Raid Set, and a few planned expansions, were all cancelled. Since no one has touched it for almost 3 years now, I'm guessing it's a lost cause. However, I agree with you: that was a sweet concept and a super cool implementation of Tabletop WoW. I've never played it (I have an issue with spending too much on collectible stuff, so I don't even start anymore) but from what I saw of it, it looked fantastic. I hope it comes back just as much as you :) Happy Christmas :)

He said he has problems with Ret spec
Harvoc Dec 26th 2011 12:40PM
I think what Untopbubble is trying to say is that he's having trouble getting achievements like Killing Blow on his Holy paladin so he switched over to Retribution. Alex is saying that Killing Blow is the only achievement of it's kind and that if he prefers Holy over Retribution, then he should just stick to Holy and employ a Shockadin style of play.
amnbrownie Dec 26th 2011 1:19PM
I managed to get a bunch of those, such as Wrecking Ball by going as a guild + some friends. If you get a group together who are aware that you're trying to earn achievements, they can usually assist in those goals, instead of relying on a bunch of pug PvPers who will do whatever they want, (which often includes not playing as a team, regardless.)
Or at a minimum, grab a pocket healer to keep you alive while you knock your achieves out.
eVEAN Dec 26th 2011 11:21AM
I used the armory a few times yesterday... it wasn't down.
