The Queue: No cats, but still furry feet
I don't have any pictures of my cat handy today, but here's some furry feet still.
Plus I don't think The Queue has run The Hobbit trailer, and I think that's the sort of thing we're obligated to do.
Tyler asked:
Is there any reason why Deathwing wouldn't have just gone to Outland to destroy it as well? I think the dark portal is still open. So why not go there after he destroys Azeroth? Has his insanity caused him to overlook the opportunity to destroy what's left of outland?
You could surmise that he didn't head to the Outland because it's not part of Azeroth, and his mind is fixated solely on destroying this planet. (Remember, Outland is another planet.)
Rhuarc asked:
I was recently in a slight disagreement with a guild member about flying in Mists of Pandaria.
I could have sworn that, at BlizzCon, they said there would be no flying in Pandaria until max level. However, for the life of me I can't find anything to back it up. My guildie, on the other hand, claims that they will let you fly in Pandaria no problems.
Who is right? And can you provide some sort of link or quote, if at all possible? I don't mind admitting when I'm wrong, but this is driving me nuts now to figure out just which of us is right!
As Shinae mentioned in the comments, check out the Preview Panel liveblog. There's no flying in MoP areas until you hit 90.
Personally, I'm thrilled this is happening. Flying takes a lot out of leveling and getting to know the zone.
Bapo asked:
Is blue posts and other news coming back?
I know it has probably been a slow week, just curious :)
It's been a very, very slow week, so the plan is for it to return next Monday or Tuesday.
Bapo also asked:
Does thrall actually shoot Deathwing down while we're all on his back, and stealth rezzes us all, or what? I know we land on a platform, but it just seems strange we don't take ANY dmg from the dragon soul.
We jump off with a parachute.
Zackwbradon asked:
With so many people having access to the MoP beta (via the year long deal) what will be the effect on the handing out of passes to those that did or could not commit to the year? Will there be fewer, or will Blizzard simply compensate by making more space on the Beta servers?
My guess is both; there'll naturally have to be fewer passes handed out, and server technology has always been improving, so there is a good chance there'll be more space available. It's probably also not out of the question for Blizzard to toss up another or two.
There's also been no blue input here yet, as the MoP beta isn't something Blizzard is going to talk about at all until it's ready.
Fox Van Allen said:
For those who don't know, Mat is just as distracted by his cats in real life as you'd expect him to be based on his Queues. I was over his house yesterday and he'd stop mid-sentence to declare, "look at Sophie!" and then proceed to rub under the cat's chin.
It's true. He's that way when I'm on Skype with him, too. "Oh, Rocky just decided to join us! Hi, Rocky! Do you want to be on the podcast?"

Is it just me, or is the trash before Ultraxion suddenly acting strange this week? It seems like regardless of taunting, it's not landing.
Nina Katarina Dec 29th 2011 11:15AM
I noticed something like that! I thought it was because we were running with a resto druid instead of our vacationing holy pally, and he wasn't taunting them down. I guess I owe that druid an apology.
vincentmagius Dec 29th 2011 11:31AM
I think I saw that last week. My LFR group had already done the drakes this week. It seemed like they refused to land.
David Brady Dec 29th 2011 11:39AM
It's definitely an issue. We had the same thing. Sent my RL into a rage :-)
The Dewd Dec 29th 2011 11:46AM
Last night, in LFR, we cleared all the trash. Instead of getting the intro to the Ultraxion fight, we got.... another full wave of trash. That was ANNOYING. I mean, the trash is already annoyingly pointless and pointlessly annoying as it is. Having to do two full waves (including the sky clearing and the drakes fleeing in between) was over-the-top frustrating.
Jaq Dec 29th 2011 1:34PM
Same thing happened to both my 85s in LFR this week. The drakes never landed, which made DPSing them on a DK and a warrior a total pain in the ass. Didn't get a second wave, though. That would have sucked.
Eyhk Dec 29th 2011 2:08PM
Hmm.. I had just assumed that they were taunted, but not kited far enough for them to make the landing. My rogue's auto-attacks would land, but I had to jump to make special attacks in range.
LynMars Dec 29th 2011 2:31PM
Was happening to us in LFR last night too; we were taunting, and I'd go to hit one I just insulted, and it'd still be flying over my head "out of range". They were still attacking my friend (the MT) and me, though.
PodPeople Dec 29th 2011 3:36PM
Maybe that's what was going on in my LFR group last night. The drakes seemed to take forever, maybe we got a second wave. The few guildies and I that were doing the run were talking in vent about retardedly long it was taking.

I was in LFR and maybe 1-in-4 were in range of my rogue, and KS was putting me in the air. I assumed the tanks weren't doing their job properly - sorry, random PUG-goers! - glad I wasn't a smartass about it to anybody but myself.

Yay for the Hobbit trailer!
Somehow I have missed seeing that, though I did know it was in production. It looks good.
The LOTR movies all rank in my best movies of all time category. ^^
Shinae Dec 29th 2011 11:16AM
It's the first time I've seen the trailer, too. Yay, I can't wait!
It makes me want to roll another dwarf.
byronius_prime Dec 29th 2011 12:50PM
Yay for the trailer!!! I expected to see Smaug in it, but never mind - vid looks awesome...!!
Rhüarc Dec 29th 2011 1:10PM
@Ravyncat I first learned of the trailer's existence from Twitter a few weeks ago. Man you shoulda seen the WoW Insider writers gushing, especially some of the females and their gushing about Thorin. However, being too lazy myself to track the trailer down, I didn't actually SEE the trailer until someone posted it on the Moon Guard forums, and then I was depressed to learn that the movie is coming in two parts, which means with the whole 12/21/12 thing*, we'll only ever get to see the first half of the movie.
@bryonius_prime I'm sure they'll release a trailer for the second installment, and that's when we'll get to see Smaug.
*Personal note: I don't actually believe the world is ending on 12/21/12, I just use it as a joking point.
Dr. Nothing Dec 29th 2011 1:58PM
@byronius_prime
The Hobbit's being split into 2 movies so I imagine we won't get to see Smaug til next year when the first movies released and they start teasers for the second
ravyncat Dec 29th 2011 2:16PM
I don't mind it being in two parts.
I loved getting a new LOTR movie for Christmas three years in a row. It made the holidays special.
I am so excited to see all of it!! I am totally the geek who can recite "I come from under the hill, and and over the hills and under the hills my paths led. And through the air....etc." Also Smaug's lines and all Gollum's riddles....and oh! Won't it be awesome if they put some of the Goblin song from the cartoon version in there?
And the Eagles saving the day...XD
*jumps happily*
Yes, you can say I am a fan of that book.
Toggle Dec 29th 2011 3:39PM
I'm just kinda worried that there may not be enough content for two movies, unless they get itno the appendices or side books or w/e. The Hobbit was what, half as long as Fellowship?
ravyncat Dec 29th 2011 4:01PM
Yeah, but then they cut a lot out of Fellowship too. If they put everything in--doubtful, but maybe?--there is probably enough for two movies.
I imagine two normal length movies are an easier sell to investors than one really long one.
Al Dec 29th 2011 9:03PM
They're going into all those times Gandalf vanished in the book. So we'll see him and Elrond scouting the Necromancer's tower and such while the Dwarves are locked in Mirkwood.
Artificial Dec 29th 2011 9:57PM
@Toggle: A 30-50 page short story is about as much as you can get into a 2 hour movie. Any book of typical novel length couldn't be made into a movie trilogy without cutting a lot.
