Breakfast Topic: What was your favorite WoW moment of 2011?

No doubt, 2011 has been a heck of a year so far -- we were introduced to Mists of Pandaria, we killed Deathwing with 24 complete and total strangers, we BlizzConned, and we visited parallel universes. There's been a lot of really awesome stuff going down, and at WoW Insider, we've been in a reminiscing mood.
But don't let us have all the fun. We want to know what your favorite World of Warcraft moment was this past year. Was it the time your guild finally downed heroic Ragnaros? Was it the time you scored that Cho'gall kill with only one person left standing? The moment you hit the 999,999 gold cap? Or was it something more personal -- say, that moment your boyfriend shared news of your wedding proposal via a popular World of Warcraft website?

My favorite moment of 2011 was getting to shake Faux Van Allen's hand at the WoW.com Time Warner Center.

And obviously mine was getting married to my loving husband, Faux.

The day 4.3 came out and I could actually see end game content inbetween my shift work. Raid Finder FTW

Totally agree. I'm also a shift worker (10:30pm-6:30am), and here is the difference 4.3 made in my WoW experience:
pre-4.3: Wake up about five hours earlier than normal on a work night in order to be ready for guild's raid times, be ready to raid, get replaced at the last moment every time... never get to actually raid, but still get to work a full shift on about three hours of sleep twice a week (not pleasant -_-) as a result of empty promises.
post-4.3: Bored at 3am ("afternoon" to me) on a night off, hop in LFR, ten minutes later I'm raiding.
I've killed an expansion's final boss within that expansion's lifetime for the very first time in my WoW career... there's just no topping that feeling to me, and with my odd waking hours, I simply don't think it would have been possible without LFR.
/highfive for my fellow shift worker! ^_^

I'll take that Highfive Swifty :)
I've worked the odd shifts too and yeah, what you said about raids and being replaced at the last miniute is true (I also got kicked out of a guild cause I wasnt 'raiding enough' even tho I was there for every raid but never got to go (and this is back in the 40 man days) and my GF at the time was one of the GL's ) so yeah, LFR FTW

Idk if this is my favorite or most memorable, but the talk about killing Cho'gall with only one person made me think about how my guild's first Deathwing kill was a kill because our Hunter used deterrence and the DoTs and his final blows after it wore off managed to kill him while everyone else was already dead. Such a silly moment.

Hmm. Maybe I should go to bed. After reading my comment again it was very poorly written.
Not to mention I am realizing that I am commenting on the Breakfast Topic and I have yet to fall asleep.

There have been a lot of ups and downs this year.
I'm not sure I could single out any one thing.

The Mists of Pandaria announcement at Blizzcon, and in general the Q&A section at Blizzcon. I love hearing from developers (especially Greg "Ghostcrawler" Street) But, aside from BlizzCon (possibly my favorite time of the year)...
I'd have to say going back and doing Glory of the Ulduar Raider. I had never done the Hard-Mode encounters and achievements before, so that was really enjoyable. I got a kick out of Firefighter and Alone In the Darkness particularly. I got my drake, and I find myself wanting to go back and get the other, now. It was a lot of fun!
Next to that, perhaps, was way earlier in Cataclysm when my earlier guild was short a dps and they were on Throne of the Four Winds, and the took me in for those two fights (and later on, Chimaeron) despite me only having a PvP spec and gear at the time (we were mostly a PvP guild, focused on RBGs). Despite this, we managed to kill all the bosses we aimed for that night. As a result I was apart of that guild's first boss kills, and will be labeled forever in that guild's achievement page. Heck, I even got some gear (albeit low-itemized gear no one really wanted). Yet I do cherish those kills, because they're the only occasions I picked up raiding in the beginning of an expansion (even if it was as a replacement).

There have been lots of good moments this year, but the best for me was the first time the 10-man group that I raid with actually managed to down the last boss of a raiding tier on normal before the next tier is released. (Who cares if it was after the nerfs, we'll take it)

The day that I stopped to talk to someone I met in a random dungeon, took a risk and transferred servers, and fell madly in love.

Care to elaborate? I'm curious!

The first couple months of the year, when Cataclysm was fresh, were really great for me. I was in a guild of great people and we did a lot of fun stuff together.
Unfortunately, after those few months burnout hit us all pretty hard and most (including me) aren't even subscribed anymore.

When 4.3 came out. Transmogrification FTW!

In-game: Our first heroic Beth'tilac kill - that was the most exhilerating bit of healing I've ever done. Out of game: BlizzCon, and the MoP announcement, and really everything about it! I wasn't there but got the online ticket so I watched most panels and events from home. Loved it :-)
Happy 2012, everyone!

My favorite moment was completing the Alliance Andorhal questline. It's not fun to lose, but having victory ripped out your hands and having to do damage control before evacuating was pretty intense. After finishing, I felt like a lot more people would have died/ been risen if my character wasn't there. Like I said, it's not the same feeling as winning, but you still got to feel important.

When annual pass was announced. D3 for FREE? Sweet mount for FREE?

Probably our (realm) first Nefarian 10H kill back in May, felt elevated for days after that =D
