Breakfast Topic: What was your favorite WoW moment of 2011?

No doubt, 2011 has been a heck of a year so far -- we were introduced to Mists of Pandaria, we killed Deathwing with 24 complete and total strangers, we BlizzConned, and we visited parallel universes. There's been a lot of really awesome stuff going down, and at WoW Insider, we've been in a reminiscing mood.
But don't let us have all the fun. We want to know what your favorite World of Warcraft moment was this past year. Was it the time your guild finally downed heroic Ragnaros? Was it the time you scored that Cho'gall kill with only one person left standing? The moment you hit the 999,999 gold cap? Or was it something more personal -- say, that moment your boyfriend shared news of your wedding proposal via a popular World of Warcraft website?

My favourite moment is actually a tie between two random fishing moments.
The first was when I won the Kalu'ak Fishing competition after having come really close on two previous occassions. The second was fishing up the Sea Turtle about three minutes after somebody else had won the same competition. I'd only continued to fish because I had a about 5 minutes left on my potion of water walking!
And, although it's off-topic, my least favourite moment came whilst farming Attumen the Huntsman in Karazhan for the engineering schematic he (allegedly) drops. I'd already been lucky enough to get the mount about five weeks previously, but, lo and behold, it dropped again. I was quite upset about it at the time, really cursing my luck (no, seriously) because a second mount is absolutely worthless - you can't give it a friend, you can't send it to an alt, you can't sell it, you can't vendor it, nothing. It did, however, make me wonder why there isn't a vendor (Ethereal, perhaps?) that you could take duplicate items like this to and trade them in for something similarly difficult to get or something that you'd really like (an engineering schematic, for example). As it is, the reins now sit forlornly in my bank, just in case, one day, they become bind-on-account.

I have a second Anzu mount sitting in my bank for the same reason. Hopefully Blizzard will incorporate a way for us to be able to trade them to friends.

That is a toughie. I'm trying to remember what all happened between January and this month in my WoW playtime. It isn't my main getting the Loremaster title, nor getting the Bloody Rare/Frostbitten because both happened in 2010 pre-Cataclysm. So, hmm.
I can't think of much that happened in Cataclysm that I particularly enjoyed either, nothing that really made me punch the air and say "yes!" Maybe if I HAD completed Glory of the Ulduar Raider... I was only one more achieve away from that. Only one. :(
Oh, I know. Getting my 100th mount, which turned out to be the Polar Bear mount from Storm Peaks, right after getting Anzu. That was a very satisfying achievement to finally get. I guess that'd be my highlight of 2011. Also getting the Exalted title as well. Both I worked on most of 2011, and I was very happy to get both, so I suppose that's it.
I really didn't enjoy Cataclysm that much, I suppose.

Stumbling upon and solo taming the spirit owl in the Hyjal daily quest area.
Having someone else tell me the chrome crab was available and help me tame it came close too. That pet looks cool!

The new 5-mans in 4.3. I really disliked the original Cata heroics, to a point where I really didn't want to run them at all. The 4.3 ones made me feel like things were back like they should be and I've been blasting through them on three characters.

The 4.3 dungeons were basically just two or three non descript rooms that essentially just threw loot at you. Opinions are opinions but I want my games to actually be games.

Opening the giftwrapped present from my friend for christmas in game and finding a Vial of the Sands mount there, I couldn't believe it, I knew I'd never be able to save up the gold to buy one for myself, and didn't even ask for a present, yet my friend decided to get me this! Made my day/week/year :) I'm still thanking him yet :-P

The MoP announcement. I watched the opening ceremonies of Blizzcon on my computer, practically holding my breath, and after the announcement I was even higher on excitement than I had been on anticipation beforehand.
Getting to raid for the first time, and being reminded for the nth time that I'm in a guild with wonderful people who're incredibly patient with me and my marvelous ability to start DPSing the floor. Or, in the case of one time, my character just needed a little nap and the boss in question was just helping her get some sleep. Not to worry, I'm improving.
The moment less than twenty minutes ago when I transferred my first roleplay character from Ravenholdt to Wyrmrest Accord, where my other two roleplay characters are. I know something like twenty people on WrA, whereas the only person I know on Ravenholdt is my ex...And I'm not keen on playing with him.

Quitting back in June, coming back for a free seven days for 4.3 and seeing how mindless the new dungeons, raid finder and all the non game wow has become, quitting again instantly and it finally got me to experiment with other MMOs and actually find a fun one I really liked

My first trip into the Madness of Deathwing half of the RF was a long one. Half the people in the group seemed almost too familiar with the fights, to the point where their explanations weren't really explaining the key thing the other half of us were missing, because they wrote it off as something everybody already knew. People dropped group so many times I lost count. There wasn't a fight we didn't wipe on at least half a dozen times. Four hours later my guildies were wondering what on Earth I was still doing in there. I don't know if we finally found a group composition that worked, or the right players, or if I and the other newbies finally got the hang of the proper target-switching, but even though both tanks are down I realize we might actually have this. In a moment of serendipity, this rogue steps in and blows all his defensive cooldowns to keep damage off the rest of the DPS, just as most of my offensive cooldowns come back up. I figured now was not the moment to save ammo and blew them all in seconds. Almost before I realized it had happened, Deathwing was down!
I started playing WoW way back in April 2005 and have been the very definition of casual ever since. I had severe alt-itis and didn't get a toon to max level until Wrath. I joined my first guild, ran in a raid for the first time, and downed my first raid boss all just this year. I never set foot in Arthas', Illidan's, or C'Thun's lairs, let alone dreamed of killing them. Even though it was only the RF, being able to take part in beating the expansion boss for the first time in six-and-a-half years, plus the joy of finally getting past something we'd been working on for over four hours, combined for such elation that I actually whooped and did a victory dance at my desk. My celebration was so exuberant that I: 1) accidentally unplugged my headset from my computer; 2) drew the attention of the rest of the house to come running; 3) almost missed the cutscene.
My brother always calls me noob, but at least I still have fun. :-)

Quitting...that was my fav wow moment.
