The Queue: Big bugs

No, not ... not that kind of bug. The other kind.
Rhuarc asked:
Quick question for readers and writers of the Queue... What's your favorite (harmless/non-game-breaking) bug in game? I'm talking about the silly little bugs that have no effect at all on the game itself, but manage to elicit a chuckle or even a full on "lol" from you when they happen?
Honestly, my favorite bug isn't recent at all, and I'm not even sure it exists anymore. It's from launch-era WoW, and it went a little something like this: If you jammed on your strafe keys, moving back and forth mostly in place, you could get your character to stay in one frame of their strafing animation while you moved, and it persisted until you jumped. You could slide around the room like you were ice skating. It was fun. I think it was client-side only, so nearby adventurers couldn't see it, but I could, and it was fun.
My second-favorite bug is easily, easily the Booty Bay Death Grip Wormhole.
kulhanek.jeff asked:
I've been having a great time in the raid finder, and I am first to admit I had my doubts about it working. Has there ever been a feature that was more ridiculed and ended up being a huge success in WoW?
Probably the Dungeon Finder. I don't think people really understood how horrible trying to put an instance group together was prior to Dungeon Finder. Some people still don't understand (although a few nights of TOR might remind them!).
No one uses Voice Chat, so I think we can count that feature out!
Tanddori asked:
Just to assuage my doubts, my co-tank in LFR Ultraxion last night insisted that he needed to stay out and eat Hour of Twilight, to not wipe the raid.
Now, I'm 99.9% sure that mechanic is non-existent in LFR and that everyone should push their fancy extra button for Hour of Twilight.
I explained to him as such, and he raged on me in raid chat, then proceeded to drop mid-fight wiping us. Class act, I know.
Someone tell me that I was right? Please? Anyone?
There's no auto-wipe mechanic for Hour of Twilight in Raid Finder mode. Everybody, including tanks, should hit the button. A tank can choose to survive Hour of Twilight with a cooldown (or without one, really), but it's really unnecessary -- ol' 'Traxy doesn't melee during the cast, and everyone gets pulled back into the Twilight Realm when the cast is over. You'll still want to taunt when that happens, mind you.
Coville asked:
Grear Roll question: If I am wearing gear, like the current tier gloves, and the token drops again.... why can I still roll need on it?
Loot roll should remove the need option if you are currently wearing the gear from that token. This would remove a lot of issue with spreading out gear in LFR and current raids.
Blizzard reps have indicated that this is something they're looking into. No definite word yet, though.
Trifla asked:
Q4TQ; Generally I like the class restriction on the LFR items, but why can't Shaman and Paladins roll on the healing off hands? My Paladin is especially feeling the bad RNG on the shield as she can't even use staves
I'm not Blizzard, but my educated guess is this: Priests, mages, and warlocks cannot use shields, so they'd be screwed out of off-hand drops twice as much if shaman and paladins could also roll on off-hand items.
MrJak asked:
Why do I enjoy LFR so much? Is it because the Lore is awesome, and as a "casual" I can go in and meet and defeat the final boss? Is it because, even though they are lesser iterations of the normal bosses, fighting them is heaps of fun?
I'm having the time of my life, sometimes I go in and do the fights just because! Screw the loot, mucking around with 24 other people and fighting towards a common goal = awesome.
Amen, dude.

What do you think the odds are of Blizzard retroactively making the Lump of Coal BoE as they did with other Holiday pets? Also side note, what's up with the Lump of Coal NOT being BoE in the first place?
Schadenfreude Dec 31st 2011 1:31PM
I hope they do, I got the lump on the wrong character. :/ I also have two extra brewfest rams sitting on the wrong character. I put all this in the bank hoping they one day make it all BoE.
Noyou Dec 31st 2011 1:51PM
I thought they were making all holiday pets BoE. I have a couple Wopletinger pets I would like to distribute. Perhaps because there is a quest for it, it is easily available to most toons. I also have an extra netherdrake I bought on accident. Silly me.

Isn't account-wide companions (and account-wide mounts, if the pets work out) planned for MoP?
(Plus the introduction of account-wide achievements.)
Tri Jan 1st 2012 3:52AM
Gods, I'll be SOOO mad if it ends up BoE because I got it on my non-pet-collecting alt and learned it since it was BoP. If that changes I will RAAAAAGE!! I'm only 5 pets away from the 150 :-/

The best bug ever is still the naked bug!!
And question for the queue... about how much damage per second should dps be doing on Ultrax in LFR? I keep seeing people doing 9 and 10 k, and groups not making the enrage timer.
Gennifurfur Dec 31st 2011 1:23PM
People should've been able to do 9-10k early in the expansion. In 372 gear there is no excuse for that.

I liked how you could kill level 1 friendly characters with Fire Nova Totem, I liked to kill those pesky Gold add spambots that used to hang out in every city with it.
Or the tiny Orc male shoulders bug that had every Orc crying for weeks.
VioletArrows Dec 31st 2011 2:18PM
Nooo... naked bug's never caused me anything but problems, like freezing and crashing in dungeons. And it only seems to work for the races I DON'T want to look at. *remembers zoning in to Ironforge with a bunch of old dwarves and gnomes hanging around* Guhhh...

Naked bug? I thought that was a buff :P
Nathanyel Jan 1st 2012 10:26AM
After my warrior completed the Netherwing farm and was flown back to Shattrath, she still has the appearance of a Fel Orc, not just on my client, but also to others, with no visible buff, and it persisted through sessions, for at least a week, though it may have been the next weekly maintenance that removed it.
Edymnion Jan 1st 2012 12:33PM
You should be pulling minimum of 15k in LFR. 20k is where you are expected to be. I'm still a little miffed at a DK I was in one with earlier this week that was pulling 4-6k the whole raid and managed to snag two of my tier tokens out from under me.
I don't mind carrying someone through LFR if they're only pulling 10-15k, I'm doing enough to cover the slack easily, but when I'm having to carry the SOB on my back AND he takes all my loot to boot? Yargh.

When is the next call for breakfast topic writers going out?
David Brady Dec 31st 2011 12:18PM
I am in love with LFR too. Never have I been able to raid endgame content on all my alts. Hell, they are nearly as geared as my 10-man raiding main.
Hiruna Sachiro Dec 31st 2011 12:23PM
The only reason I take the Hour of Twilights while tanking in LFR is because of the threat debuff. After clicking the shiny button, you have zero threat for 10 seconds... and there is ALWAYS someone who doesn't click the button. If both tanks clicked, but you have some silly fire mage pewpew-ing his little heart out... guess who's dead when we pop back!
loop_not_defined Dec 31st 2011 12:34PM
They're going to die from Hour of Twilight anyways.
Also, the "no threat for 10 seconds" only applies to the tank that received Fading Light (which is only ever one of the two tanks in LFR).
loop_not_defined Dec 31st 2011 12:39PM
Fading Light: http://www.wowhead.com/spell=110073
! In Looking for Raid Difficulty, Ultraxion only sucks the light out of his current target.
Faded into Twilight – Residual Twilight effects cause all threat against Ultraxion to be reset. In addition, no threat will be generated for 5 sec.
So as long as both tanks taunt when they come back, one of them WILL get aggro. Further, anybody that doesn't hit the button WILL die. Sure, they might be able to survive with defensive cooldowns, but if they didn't bother hitting Heroic Will, you can bet they're not going to bother with anything else that might save them.
Bronwyn Jan 1st 2012 12:53AM
@Loop
In LFR, missing one button press is not fatal. It's healable. If a lot of people are doing it, obviously that's a different story, but I've missed the button press and lived just fine even without personal defensive cooldowns, and I'm just a mage.

Do you think hunters will ever get a the ability to use rats, not even as a tameable swarm pet. More like a cool down, something like the pied piper's song.
GormanGhaste Dec 31st 2011 1:58PM
I just want to be able to tame a Dire Rat. Other than isolated individuals found in magical sewers, there are no nutria (coypu) -sized rats in WoW. Blizz has really flouted all proper custom with this omission!
