The Queue: Clearly, the correct answer is Tommy, the green Ranger

Andy provided the correct answer for yesterday's Queue. And let me tell you, he's right.
Except the Pink Ranger. I had such a crush on her ...
Shrinknet asked:
What level does my fishing need to be in order to catch Cata-level fish, and can I reach it with bonus items?
You need to have a fishing skill of 1 to catch from pools (Blizzard made this change a while back) and 450 to begin to catch normally from open water in Cataclysm zones.
Fishing also levels up pretty fast right now, so it's a good time to grind it out. Only took me about a dozen episodes of Star Trek: The Next Generation on Netflix to level fishing through.
Ailuvan asked:
I switched from physical to mobile authenticator. No problem there.
Then there was an update to the auth app. At which point, it stopped working. So I sent in a request to detach it from my account, but that took 3 days, and finally happened when I was asleep. An hour later, the account was hacked. 2 hours later, I woke up, reset the pw, and reached the authenticator, and all was well.
Does the mobile app lose its mind every time it's upgraded?
I've never experienced a problem with the authenticator app, but that sucks that it happened. I know other people have had similar issues. I think if there's something not working with it for you, the best bet might be not update it (why fix it if it's not broken?) or use a physical authenticator.
Joakim asked:
Just what exactly is up with that village in Tol Barad? It's got dwarves, humans, gnomes, orcs and taurens - all in a very suspicious mood and easily angered.
They're all outlaws and have a bad attitude in general. Nothing much can be done to make them happy, so we kill 'em, or at least try to take their fish.
Buffalo asked:
My name is Buffalo and tomorrow is my birthday. Can we have a buffalo themed queue tomorrow?
No. Bah, humbug.
Happy birthday.

Garrosh and Varian hug.
"Congratulations, heroes of Azeroth! We have torn down our differences, embraced peace, and defeated all who desire destruction! Let this new era of peace begin!"
Heroes of Azeroth look at each other, worried.
Garrosh Hellscream has died.
Varian Wrynn has died.
Sephhirotht says, "Who could have done this! This must be the work of...of...Alliance scum! Yes, that's it!"
Manitoba says, "No, this must be the latest Twilight Cult conspiracy! We should venture into-"
Leetdude says, "Fools! The Burning Legion is behind this, despite the deaths of Sargeras and his lieutenants!"
Jimmmmy says, "LET'S MARCH UPON THEIR FORTRESSES AND LOOT THEIR EPICS...uh, I mean, THWART THEIR EVIL!"
And thus Azeroth's Heroes were saved, once more, from the threat of boredom.

You're fighting for your Tol Barad tokens. Walk into the village and /hug 15 people. Ignore the bleeding, and see how many tokens you get for that. No mounts for you!

All you need to do to be safe using Mobile auth. is to write down the restore code and a serial number displayed during the first launch on your mobile phone.
Few weeks ago I had to do a factory reset and forgot to detach auth. from the battle.net. When I installed it again and all I had to do was to find those two codes and put them into the new authenticator. The app just synchronized with the battle.net again and I was ready to log in.

I unfortunately got an update for the mobile authenticator when visiting the US which changed the id that used to start with EU- to a new one starting with US-
Seems the update changed the id based on location.
Luckliy I had just recently done a full backup of my phones system and could roll back just a couple of days. Aftermarket roms for android FTW

Can anybody think of a good reason for preventing weapons from dropping in LFR, outside of Madness of Deathwing (and Electrowing Dagger from Hagara)?
All I can figure is that this is incentive to get people to finish Madness of Deathwing..although Madness ALSO drops a Rogue dagger. /shrug

If you remember from back in ICC, weapons also primarily dropped off LK. I believe the reasoning may have been a mixture of not wanting weapons to be too readily available to PvPers and also to make sure those going into hard-modes after clearing everything on normal wouldn't be a victim of RNG and be unable to see literally any weapon drops from previous bosses (such as my guild and not seeing Bone Arbiter once off Marrowgar). Weapons carry a lot of stat-weight, and are very important to your overall performance. Not being able to see any weapons for your guild just because of bad luck would be terrible for progression. Not to mention it feels much more rewarding killing the end boss and getting a big reward out of it. If weapons weren't supplied for killing the end bosses, people wouldn't bother and would likely just work on Hard Modes before even seeing every encounter on normal difficulty (thus reducing the amount of content people see, and eliminating the amount of progression any given guild could do).
I can see why they took this route--a lot of thought went into the decision, and wasn't something they likely took very lightly.

"If you remember from back in ICC, weapons also primarily dropped off LK."
This is a little different that what Loop's talking about.
The Lich King only dropped weapons, yes -- http://www.wowhead.com/npc=36597#drops:mode=normal10 -- which is similar to Deathwing. But weapons most definitely dropped from the rest of the raid, too: http://www.wowhead.com/items=2?filter=minle=251;maxle=251;cr=16;crs=4812;crv=0
This is also the way it works in normal Dragon Soul. There are weapons that drop from the pre-DW bosses: http://www.wowhead.com/items=2?filter=minle=397;maxle=397;cr=16;crs=5892;crv=0
What loop's referring to, is that fact that weapons were removed from the bosses loot tables in the LFR version of DS, except for the Deathwing weapons.
Honestly, I'm not sure what the reasoning is...
razion Jan 3rd 2012 12:21PM
Well Cutaia, your guess is as good as mine in this fashion and I really can't figure out why they would restrict earlier weapons. They obviously wanted some weapons to be distinguishable from LFR, although I really can't come up with a good reason as to *why* they would have some item models solely available past LFR difficulty. Particularly with Transmogrification in the mix, there's little to no reason anymore to try and distinguish raiders and non-raiders by their appearances.
The Dewd Jan 3rd 2012 12:22PM
I would guess that all the weapons are _only_ available via Madness on LFR to keep people in the raid to the end. It's already bad enough when someone drops because they lost a roll or the only loot they wanted was on boss 1, 2, or 3.
Cephas Jan 3rd 2012 12:58PM
The wand off of Zon'ozz and the thrown off of Morchok also drop in LFR, I assume because Deathwing doesn't drop a wand or a thrown. Similarly, the dagger that Hagara drops is a fast (i.e. offhand) dagger and Deathwing drops a slow (i.e. main hand) dagger. The Deathwing dagger is therefore NOT an upgrade from the Hagara dagger, which I assume is why they are allowed to coexist.
loop_not_defined Jan 3rd 2012 1:11PM
Thanks for the clarification on the dagger, Cephas.
I thought "keeping everybody 'til the end" would've been the primary reason for awhile, but there are 7 weapons in the first half of Dragon Soul that don't drop and have no effect on the participation of Deathwing fights.
Kuro Jan 3rd 2012 2:05PM
@ Honestly, I'm not sure what the reasoning is...
There was reasoning given in some post or magazine interview or another that they wanted to keep weapons as a special reward so they only drop off of the final ("hard") boss in LFR.
I would also assume that they needed to make room on the loot table for more token drops.
Stargazer Jan 3rd 2012 11:17AM
There's a rumor going around the LFR groups that people with lower quality gear get "favored" in the roll system so they get mgeared faster. Can you confirm or deny this? Also, does Blizzard have to tell us about every single change they make in the game? What if they want to tweak something like a drop rate. Thanks.
loop_not_defined Jan 3rd 2012 11:28AM
The LFR rumor just sounds like people getting upset over lost rolls ("He's in greens, he shouldn't even be here! RAGE!!!"). I wouldn't give it much concern.
(cutaia) Jan 3rd 2012 11:48AM
Yes, it's true. Also, whenever you're running late, streetlights are programmed to turn red more.
In reality, you tend to remember the more annoying or inconvenient circumstances in life, as opposed to the times when things work the way they theoretically ought. When the guy pulling 5k DPS wins gear from each boss, it stands out more and is more likely to get shared as a story than the time 16 people, each performing average to well, each won something.
jtrack3d Jan 3rd 2012 11:48AM
Someone in my guild has claimed this as well. Only Blizzard knows for sure.
However, I do argue with them when they claim that someone with low skill (DPS/HPS) is some how less deserving of the gear. This is supposedly a random roll, not a ... give gear to the person that THINKS they are most deserving. Let your guild hand you highness your deserved gear.
Honestly, I can see why Blizzard would give gear to the weakest.
Puntable Jan 3rd 2012 12:04PM
People with lower gear win more because they roll need on more items?
The Dewd Jan 3rd 2012 12:19PM
If Blizzard is weighting the rolls (more than beyond the Need+ stuff), it'd really upset a lot of folks. People are already upset about the RNG of loot _drops_ - now if you tell them that someone they're "carrying" is getting the loot that they worked just as hard, if not harder, for, there'll be a riot. I upsets me when I lose rolls but I to take it in stride. Sure, Blizzard wants me to run the Raid Finder every week and they're betting I'll do it for gear/points/fun every week without burning out - we'll see what happens.
And I'm talking about the guy in iLevel 380 gear losing out to someone who is in iLevel 376 - I'm not going to even get into a discussion about people who come in wearing PvP gear or holding PvP/BoEs in their bags just to get in the door and "need" the upgrades more.
Noyou Jan 3rd 2012 12:26PM
I'm probably in the minority here but the loot aspect of LFR should be more geared towards people who actually NEED the gear and not using it to fill out their slots from Normal mode.
Jaq Jan 3rd 2012 12:42PM
I was in full 378s by the time I ran my first raid finder. Got one drop off Morchok and two drops in a row the next week.
So, if lesser geared people are favored, the system was definitely Doing It Wrong when that happened to me.
