Don't tell moonkin blogger
Tyler Caraway, but I sort of like druids. Whether or not they're the best at tanking or the best at DPS never really matters to me, though. I just like being able to change shapes and forms. Beating things up as a bear is
cool. Being a ferocious cat is
cool. Being a ferocious
cat that's on fire -- even
cooler.
There's only one thing I can think of that would make me even more excited to play a druid: more shapeshifting forms. So how about it? Do you like playing in shapeshifted form, even if you have to rely on trinkets to do it? Is there a new shapeshifted druid form that you'd like to see? Maybe the ability to play as a naga or a ferocious timbermaw?

I'd like being a real seal, instead of the manatee/seal hybrid we have now. But what I'd like most is for it not to drop when you get out of the water, or even into a shallow spot. Why not let us move around (very slowly, ofc) on land in seal form? And jump up out of the water and swim on, instead of having to reapply the form again...

I love bouncing around on my worgen cat form yelling roflmao. My roommate thinks I'm crazy but its fun. Flight form is the best. My favorite thing to do is hop on my chopper ride off a cliff and change into a bird mid fall.

when my husband and i got our druids' flight forms for the first time, we spent 2 hours playing chicken over shattrath. fligh high over the center (in the beacon of light thing) and drop. Whoever shapeshifts closest to the ground under adal wins :D
there were a lot of skeletons on the floor that day.

Someone said it best on these forums years ago: Who else can jump off a cliff and fly off into the sunset?

Shapeshifting is the sole reason I rolled a Druid as my main character, six years ago. I regret nothing. :)

I LOVE the shapeshifting. It is so much fun. That is what I like best about druids.
I try to time it so I am running as fast as I can as a cat, leap into the air, and boom! I'm a giant freaky bird. I also love nelf flipping in the air straight to bird form. Or being the seal in some water, zooming to the surface into a nelf flip and into a bird before I hit the water again.
I also like being a bird and swooping down until boom! I'm a kitteh. It is much harder to do that though.
I enjoy shapeshifting on any character. My main has an orb of deception and an orb of the sin'dorei. I often become a random belf during raids just because I can.

In short, no I hate shapeshifting. Back during Vanilla it was something that appealed to me but ended up hating the Druid class back then. I think I like it slightly more now but not enough for me to invest time into one. So yeah I don't like shapeshifting, and I honestly don't know why. I just don't.

I really enjoyed playing my druid. My favorite was when tree form was active all of the time. There was something about just hopping around HoTing everything up. I do miss it!
Noyou Jan 4th 2012 10:28AM
I miss seeing trees all over the place. They really should leave it up to the individual, especially with transmogrification. They can leave all the benefits of being in ToL form to a CD or something. It just seems wrong. I still haven't filled out my offspec yet because leveling a kitty is so much fun. I did like balance on my first druid for the short time I played it.

I'm sort of torn on this. Shapeshifting is cool, and the TCG and NPC druids in the game offer up a lot of fun ideas for new forms that could be implemented. The problem is "how?"
Glyphs to adjust current forms would be nice, but that's ultimately cosmetic. Cosmetic is nice, especially since druids don't get much out of gear changes, but it only adds so much to the game.
New forms as a cool-down, as in the current Tree of Life form, would be an idea, but that would provide only a limited exposure to a new form, which could be disappointing.
New forms that are permanent could be interesting, such as a scorpion or serpent form, but may ultimately be unused or be difficult to balance. Forcing on the fly switching would be a pain to players as well.
Still, there are definitely some interesting possibilities. Scorpion form could be for feral DPS, adding a cleave to every attack but reducing single-target damage. Serpent form could add poison damage to certain attacks as well. Perhaps a new travel form in the guise of a stag or a plainstrider. I'm not sure what sort of options I'd include for Balance, but a different form could provide self healing or some other defensive benefit.

I am all for druids and shapeshifting but I draw the line at new forms. They already have the most artwork spent on them by far. I wouldn't mind making one special form per race and maybe have it glyphed, but to just give them all 1-2 new forms, I think is really taking resources away from other things.

@Noyou
Oh, I don't know. I'd love to see a feral form like a skele-kitty or a glowing Spectral like Gondria for a form either. I love being a feral kitty, but a new form, even glyphed, would be welcome. :)

I love the druid shapeshifting. My main is a hunter so I already got a thing for druids (mostly an obsession to try and tame em!). But levelling with my druid has been a treat. From the mere graphical delight to the convenience of skipping a 1,5 second mount cast every darned time.
And then ..... I got the flight form. Such a delight. I can't resist leaping off cliffs as a kitty and then 'weeeeeeeh','woosh','flaps away' .. (ok mixed in with the occasional 'weeeeeeeh','splat','spirit runs back')

I got a super simian sphere randomly in Storm Peaks one day, and it led to my priestess collecting various shape-changing items. Archaeology only made that habit worse!
My raid leader is fond of the Potions of Illusion. So I, or one of the others, often changes into a naga or silithid or furbolg or what-have-you so he can potion into it as well on boss fights.
My roommate was the first druid in our group to get the firekitty staff. She's since moved on to the "become a giant kitty" staff!
Illidan, however, has been wise enough to not let my angry paladin turn into a male NE when the demon spell wears off. She stays a girl. Not that she wouldn't love an excuse to pop him in the nose...
Shapeshifting is just silly fun in the game that makes for enjoyable change.

I've enjoyed my Feral druid since the day I started playing WoW. Bear til I got Catform, then Cat since then. I've dabbled in Tree for an offspec, but have now nicely settled in Bear.
Can't wait to get a Kiril (whether LFR or Normal), so that I can have a giant-ass bear or a flaming firecat. I so hope that Blizz makes more Raid-level weapons like Kiril or the Flamescythe... those are just too fun to use, and I'll be sad once I wind up moving past my Flamescythe for my Cat gear....
