My suggestions
1) Remove random digsites. Make them perminent and you can choose where to go and what to research (Im sure no ancient ruins in any world just phase in and out randomly - except maybe in Star Trek)
2) Allow some artifacts to be AH'able, and make them also be able to be turned in at the library for a boost in rep and possibly skill. - the rarer the find, the bigger the boost.
3) Allow library research - allowing you to significantly raise the chance of finding certain rarer artifacts. Library research could also be a bit of a gold sink - the more you put into research the better the chance to find the item. (you paying for librarians to do the research)
4) either more consistancy in dig site sizes, or increase chances/finds in larger sites
5) the surveying could be streamlined a bit more. By using triangulation via 3 + surveys should pretty accurately locate the dig point.
6) I want a branch of the mage guilds there - to set up portals to go from site to site quickly. (this is probably a step to far - or maybe two - and I have no doubt this will never be implemented - but boy would I love it)
I very much doubt any such thing as phased museums, or relootable donated artifacts are going to happen (or even if they should).
