The Queue: Your head will hurt after looking at this

I found the above image on Reddit the other day. It made my head hurt when I tried to disassemble it. Now, your head hurts.
Trolling? Perhaps.
Caden asked:
with the feldrake and eye of the legion pet being datamined (and hopefully not from the tcg), do you think the the legion will have some influence in MoP?
While it's not out of the realm of possibilities, I wouldn't read into it. The Legion would be a "big bad," and that's something we've been told MoP isn't going to have at the outset.
Revnah asked:
Do you believe the imbalance in difficulty of current lvl 85 heroic 5mans is going to be addressed at some point? Right now when you first hit 85 and have bad gear, you run the endlessly long, hard heroics until your gear level is high enough to run the shorter, easier Hour-of-Twilight heroics. That's a bit upside-down, don't you think?
I can't imagine Blizzard would put resources into revising current heroics and their mechanics much. The imbalance is certainly there and is pretty obvious, but what could be done other than a complete redesign of the dungeon? That's a ton of work on older content, when the newer stuff would be a much better place to focus effort.
I'm always amazed that people seem to clear the new heroics with ease, but the same well-geared people can't interrupt the first boss in Shadowfang Keep correctly. It's very annoying, but such is life.
Sead asked:
I have been trying to follow the MoP news but I couldn't seem to find any info on whether or not there will be a new Profession? (since each Expack so far has had a new one) Any News about adding a new one?
We were all told there will be no new profession by Blizzard at BlizzCon.
The Dewd asked:
For those who aren't active raiders but are using the raid finder, does anyone feel like the only reason to chase more gear in LFR is just to make LFR easier - when it's not really that hard right now as long as people aren't gaming their iLevel or incapable of playing their class? Plus, really, how many people are getting the current tier gear and aren't transmogging it?
Transmogging. Some of the current Tier 13 and assorted gear from the Raid Finder is pretty awesome. Not my warlock gear, however ... tentacle face is not for me.

I love the Asian theme in MoP. What real world cultures or mythologies un-used in WoW would you like to see?
lazymangaka Jan 5th 2012 11:14AM
A wild west type theme would be awesome. WoW more than dips its toes in steampunk, so adding gunslingers and lawmen wouldn't be much of a stretch.

The amount of DINGO ATE MAH BAYBEH and SHRIMP ON THE BARBEH jokes that would come from that would be deafening though tyler, might be more than you could handle.

A Wild West expansion would be a lot of fun. Could easily be put into an Australian themed continent. That movie 'The Proposition' comes to mind.
llcjay2003 Jan 5th 2012 11:22AM
Canadian. Heh. I kid.
Seriously though, a Russian theme might be neat. That or perhaps Mayan or Incan. Though you could argue that trolls already kind of do that.

The Titans have had representatives based on the Norse gods and the Egyptian gods, but it'd be nice to see some Graeco-Roman pantheon. Those guys were messed up.

Something out of India would be really nice, and could compliment the Chinese theme well. I just -really- don't want Blizzard reusing gods from 'dead' religions anymore, I think they can make up their own, and even though the game isn't currently played in India, taking any of the Hindu gods and altering their names and making us kill them would be a very, very bad idea. I was irritated with the Norse gods in Northrend, and -furious- with the Egyptian gods in Uldum not even being anything more than some stupid construct operating a giant machine. I understand taking inspiration from them, but for goodness sake, do more than just change the name a little and ripping off their imagery. Thor and company were so much better treated than Isis and her companions, it really wasn't fair and kind of insulting to the intelligence.

I like the asian theme as well, and feel it's about time we had a 'new look'. Still, I'd rather they did a little more genre-bending than pigeon-holing us into mythologies. Personally, I'd prefer a "land of the lost/land below" kind of thing, since we didn't really get much of it in either expansion where it would have best applied. Deepholm was a cool zone that just kinda got "blown through", and we never really got to see Azjol'Nerub like we were supposed to.
As for other cultures, Indian/Hindu; or possibly a "US-Old West" sort of environment.

Don't forget all the snakes. I love Australia. :)

I'd quite like Arabic or Islamic cultural influences...Wrathion looks like a step in the right direction.
Maybe it's just because I've been playing Assassin's Creed: Revelations too much.
yous95 Jan 5th 2012 11:48AM
Well personally, I find the kinds of settings that are completely original and unique to be far more enchanting than one based off of something we know, since you really don't know what to expect.

I would like to have a outlandish place were the law of physics doesn’t matter. Just like super Mario galaxy, not as extreme though. The ground is completely vertical at some places (like walking on walls) and some places the ground is bent in circular forms (running in spirals).
djsuursoo Jan 5th 2012 12:55PM
i'll throw in that an arabic-themed expansion would rule.
especially if a lot of the central conflict was itself based on the factional tensions of the islamic faith. there's some lovely contradictions and self-serving paradoxes that would make for some really fun story possibilities.
or
EMERALD DREAM.
african cultural influences would also be pretty interesting to see established. or japanese.
the irish would be pretty interesting(the dwarves aren't really celtic-influenced at all outside of the whole drinking and accent thing. much more germanic in most of their culture). a race of semi-nomadic clan-based warrior types with strong druidic/shamanic nature worship? i could get behind that.

If they do Australia, then literally everything that you come across needs to be deadly and trying to kill you. Even the critters.
Matthew Jan 5th 2012 1:29PM
India and the subcontinent. A treasure trove of lesser known deities (by most Americans) would seem 'new' to them, while providing awesome looks too.
Ganesh with the elephant head.
Shiva who dances (dance studio anyone) and destroys.
More than just Hinduism. But it would be cool if they also used the Punjab's sikh culture and other influences too!

I think you give blizzard too little credit here. Who's to say that those constructs weren't god-like? Have we ever seen anything short of Ragnaros or Deathwing display such aptitude with fire as Rajh? We've certainly never seen anything with as strong a connection to the void as Setesh. As for Isis, she, in real life, is a goddess from the late kingdom period of Egypt, really more of a Greek deity than an egyptian one. The point that I think displays the research and brilliance of her portrayal in Warcraft is the fact that she splits into three. Isis is a multi-form goddess that may be a combination of three or more 'mother' type godesses, one of whom provided the wing moteif that is often associated with her. She is also a sky goddess, and sometimes a night goddess, so to give her a multi-aspect fight with some aspects of stars, some of the open sky, and a protection moteif plays into each of those aspects of the real goddess. I think you're fooling yourself if you know this and think her three-part fight and name were simply a coincidence on blizzard's part.

A wild west theme would be awesome. I kind of like the idea of a new frontier setting. The Barrens and Northrend kind of had this and I feel like Pandaria will as well but I'm always lusting for something more.

My vote is for Inca.
One of my favourite zones is the Storm Peaks, because I love the ridiculously high mountains. (Also see Hyjal.) Now imagine Storm Peaks, except that Dalaran is located where Thorim's throne is. And then imagine rickety rope bridges going from peak to peak. Terraced cities. That would be awesome!
llcjay2003 Jan 5th 2012 3:09PM
I did not think of India. That would be freakin awesome. Does anyone know what is keeping WoW from being played in India? That market is HUGE, population-wise.

I am so glad I'm not the only one who thinks Australian wildlife would work really well on Azeroth. Back in vanilla I was actually a bit disappointed to see so many creatures missing, and I live in the US.
The thought of critters suddenly going aggro reminds me of the turkey achievement in howling fjord and makes me laugh my ass off. I wouldn't mind seeing something like that again.
