The Jouster's Gauntlets (also a green drop) make a nice substitute for the gloves, and the Azuresong Mageblade (drop from Golemagg in MC) is the same model as that particular sword and has a fairly decent drop rate if I recall.

If you are hurting for a shield, I have seen many guards and players using a torch in the offhand. Grayson's Torch is the one that springs to mind, but I believe that one is an Alliance only quest reward. I think there is a BoE that drops in Uldaman though.
