Cross-realm raids coming in patch 4.3.2

Coming in Patch 4.3.2 -- Cross-Realm Raids
We previously introduced the ability to form cross-realm parties with Real ID friends, and now with Patch 4.3.2, we're adding the ability for players to use that same functionality to form raids to run older normal or heroic raids, or participate in Battlegrounds!
This will allow you to join up with your Real ID friends from other realms and:
As we look forward to the BattleTag system, it's a very exciting time for World of Warcraft. No matter what realm you and your friends are on you'll be able to team up and take on group content throughout the game.
This will allow you to join up with your Real ID friends from other realms and:
- Form a cross-realm raid and use Raid Finder
- Jump in to any classic dungeon or raid and be automatically placed in the same instance
- Join forces and dominate the Battlegrounds
As we look forward to the BattleTag system, it's a very exciting time for World of Warcraft. No matter what realm you and your friends are on you'll be able to team up and take on group content throughout the game.

kingoomieiii was referring to this part:
"Can just group invite, and hop in RFC or Stocks."
You can do that now. You don't have to join LFD or LFR to meet your friend. Set up a simple two-person group and physically walk into any dungeon, it'll work fine.

We've been able to run battlegrounds and use raid finder with RealID friends since 4.3 - what they're really adding is the ability to turn a group containing RealID members into a raid, allowing more than 5 members in the group. It is also possible to do old raids with cross realm friends, by entering a raid in a raid group (with a same realm player), converting the group back into a party, inviting the cross-realm RealID friend and then using the guild summon perk.
Nice to see the clarification on that though, and also nice that we'll be able to use it properly for old raids!

I can't wait to see the flood of posts on the Achievements & Guild Advancement forum on WoW's site.
There will be 25 man ICC, Ulduar, Firelands runs every night.

OH JESUS YES
*remembers that bads can still absolutely wreck full raids of 85s on fights like Yogg and LK*
TENTATIVE YES
Also, I don't think Blizz allows you to swap RealID information through the forums. This will be EXTREMELY awesome when Battletag comes out.

Is this already in place? I queued with a buddy on illidan from doomhammer today o.o
he had said somthing that it wouldn't work, yet the LFR finder let us both in. or is this somthing diff?
CollinBPage Jan 6th 2012 10:47PM
This change is for CrossRealming old content not LFR
loop_not_defined Jan 6th 2012 11:07PM
You can queue as a 5-man for LFR or Battlegrounds right now, but not 6 or more. This change will let you convert to a raid before queuing. So it will be possible to queue up LFR with a 25-man premade full of Real ID friends in 4.3.2.

i have friends on other servers, now i get to raid with them?!?
hell yes.
Yaroukh Jan 6th 2012 10:44PM
Only in LFR, which for me renders this feature completely useless.
LFR are bore-fest, half of the ppl there are doing nothing and you still down the """boss""".
djsuursoo Jan 6th 2012 10:50PM
actually, as i understand it, you all walk into the raid portal in your respective realms, no matter what raid, you go to the same instance.
i wonder if this also works for have group and warlock summons...
lavergne.joseph Jan 6th 2012 10:21PM
I can see the current raid not being able to do this, but this sounds interesting cause it would allow people to be able to get some of the achievements they haven't gotten yet due to not wanting to pug it. Plus think of the transmog possibilities.
djsuursoo Jan 6th 2012 11:06PM
and for those of us that have raid teams that aren't hard-charging progression or got started late.
firelands is still pretty good stuff, just not bleeding edge. it certainly wouldn't be a cakewalk for 99% of the raid teams out there.
Yaroukh Jan 6th 2012 10:46PM
Seems like most of the commenters missed the "no regular raids" note. I suggest it should be emphasized in the article.
djsuursoo Jan 6th 2012 10:53PM
i quote:
'jump into any classic dungeon or raid(emphasis mine) and be automatically placed in the same instance.'
that kind of sounds like i dunno...
like raids other than raidfinder can be done.
loop_not_defined Jan 6th 2012 11:11PM
The "no regular raids" note only applies to Dragon Soul. You can still walk into Firelands, Bastion of Twilight, Ulduar, or even AQ40 with a Real ID raid.
Would love to hear some clarification on the Dragon Soul exemption from Blizzard, though. I'd try and think of a reason, but damn is it late. /yawn

Oh no not more cross-realm it's going to destroy the servers just like Dungeon Finder didn't I mean totally did shut up. TOR or whatever. Community and other nonsense.
djsuursoo Jan 9th 2012 11:56AM
you left out ghostcrawler.
Saphiraka Jan 6th 2012 10:56PM
Be nice if they would go farther and just make it where you can que for the old raids through LFR. Sure real id friends getting together is great but if you don't have many people on your list going back to say Ulduar could still be a pain.
Yaroukh Jan 6th 2012 10:55PM
still let-down for me but i stand corrected, ty sir
