Breakfast Topic: Why do you love your spec?

There are many reasons why I love my class. I love the mana system more than the other systems of energy and rage. I love the unmatched power of the Dispersion defensive cooldown. I love how every point of damage I do rewards a small percentage back to me as self-healing. I love shadow priest lore. And most of all, I love how badass I look in Shadowform.
I love shadow priesting so much that I cannot begin to comprehend why anyone would play any other spec ... which is why I'm putting the question out there: What do you love most about the class and spec you play?

I'll answer two fold here because I honestly can't decide! Also, comparing a healer and a dps is like comparing apples and oranges, so...
My main raiding character is my holy priest. I adore the sheer number of different healing abilities I have. My HealBot is bursting with keybinds. In contrast, my shammy healer has half her Healbot binds free... Not that this is bad, but I just love my holy priest's vast toolbox.
My second big love is kitty dps. There's nothing, absolutely nothing in the world that's more fun than leaping through the air at an enemy with a roar and then starting to rip him to shreds. Nothing more beautiful than my black panther shape. Nothing more thrilling than beating the odds and topping meters in spite of playing the "bad" spec.
I love several different classes and specs, but those two are definitely tied for first place :-) Thanks for asking all the right questions lately, Fox!

Ditto. Kitties for life.

hi there! just incase you're not doing it - don't forget shammys can get off a stronger heal by throwing a shock first, and can also improve the same heal with unleash elemental (weapon imbue). It makes our 3 spells more fun to use :D

Hi Matthew! You know, it's just these things - the many little tweaks and "small cooldowns" - that I like about shammy healing. My favourite is Nature's Swiftness, best oh-shit button ever! A quick instant Greater Healing Wave, or even an instant Healing Rain, are amazing. Not to mention Spiritwalker's Grace; how I wish to be able to cast on the move on my priest sometimes!
After holy priests and kitty druids, it would definitely be resto shaman and boomkin on my personal "spec charts" :-D

Always loved my rogue, Vanish is such a cool way to escape/run away.

More rogue love. I'm one of those rare care bear rogues. I love the class because of stealth/sap/distract. Sneaking around enemy capitals is a blast. When I need to fish fathom eel, I stealth to the Rustberg Village docks, sap a hostile fisherman and stand next to him while I fish pools. Sometimes I pat them on the back ... never understood why we're killing these guys.
My favorite recent buff has been the increase of stealth speed.
I also love glyphed safe fall ... when I play other toons I'm always taking fall damage because I'm used to jumping off of every ledge.

A bit unorthodox for PvP, I love combat spec. The rotation is simpler for me so I can concentrate on gouging/blinding and otherwise keeping people nice and stunned. Killing spree might be my favorite rogue spell. If you never tried it out, please do so. In MoP it is going away (as we know it). I have lots of respect for rogues who can play sub and assas. I am looking forward to playing combat in MoP with the chance to get shadow dance. There are some very interesting things for rogues on the horizon.

I love my subtlety rogue. Why? Shadowstep. Nothing like being in front of your enemy then the next second behind them sticking them in the kidney. Magical!!!

Yet more Rogue love....Subtlety.
Few things are more fun that getting into a WSG after I've capped weekly CP, picking one player as my target, and haunting that guy/gal the entire game. My goal is to get you to quit the BG out of frustration after being sapped, stunned, and killed each and everytime you spawn from the GY.
Nothing is funnier than having a DK death grip you away from your target, only to Shadowstep right back. Or getting frozen, but then Vanish, ShS, and stun.
Damn Rogues....
Muhahahahahahaha!

I leveled my rogue as subtlety in classic (the horror, I know) and switched to Assassination in BC. I tried combat for a day and hated it, and I stayed with Mutilate through its ups and downs and no matter how much rap I get for not being the fotm combat dps spec, there's no way I'd ever be anything else.

I love my kitty. I try playing other toons, but that's the one I always come back to. I just love the speed and unpredictability the spec offers. Frost mage tries to freeze me and my allies in place? I just pop Stampeding Roar and give chase. If he tries to Blink away, BAM, Feral charge and I'm right behind him. And even when he thinks I'm dead, he forgets that he has both Rake and Rip still ticking on him, and there's not a healer in sight. Thats why I love the spec, because even when you think you've out run me, I'll always be right behind you ;)

Yeah, until I SCARE BEAST you out of my face...My hunter LOVES being attacked by ferrals...Oh, by the way, those bleeds? can you say STONEFORM? they go bye-bye!!!!

Affliction warlock - the self healing and survivability combined with the fact that even if they run, the dots will kill them anyway. I'v e been affliction since I started playing the toon 6 years ago, and there's just not the same sense of slow inevitable death in the other two specs :)
I really don't like playing shadow on my priest funnily enough. She's disc, alway has been although I had a shadow OS for wrath raids. I like mitigating the damage rather than having to wait and then heal it back. It just makes more sense to stop the damage happening than wait for it to happen and then deal with it.

I switched to Afflic on my lock when I was in the mid 20's and leveled that way until 84. It was fun to take on mobs of 5-6 at a time and bubble, while my voidwalker pummeled them. Then I tried demon and fell in love with the felguard and hand of gul'dan. I still like afflic but demon is so fun to play for soling, I find myself playing afflic a lot less.

I love the druid class. We can do everything.
I love being a feral DPS druid because, well, one, I'm a cat! Hahaha. I think it's easy to destroy things as my kitty, I look badass, and if I'm taking too much damage I can drop cat form and heal quick.
Arrowsmith Jan 8th 2012 8:32AM
I love playing a BM Hunter over MM or SV because I like having my pet be as much of a killing machine as I am. I'd also rather see a steady stream of numbers that all look about the same instead of big numbers contrasting smaller numbers. I'm just weird like that.
lord.laer Jan 8th 2012 8:43AM
I love the restoration druid, it used to be because of the tree form, I miss that broccoli. Now is just because I can get pretty number of healing around me, then shift to a mighty tree and save the day, and cast one of the most powerful heal in the game. And shapeshift has been always the best of druid, if you need to quick move, dash in your cat form, you need to stun a trash mob thats gone crazy, go bear and bash, you need to go underwater to do that quest, just go to your seal form, and if you dont have a nice flying mount, then just shift to a bird and fly away. It's cool to be a druid.

My Arms warrior is definitely my favorite, and it's a fairly RP-ish reason, but it works.
I've always seen different specs of classes as falling under certain archetypes, and ever since I saw the warrior talents I knew what Arms was supposed to be. Rather than being a berserker fueled by rage, his ability is tempered by pure skill and refinement.
In my mind, it's a bit like the romanticized version of a samurai.
Just about everything in the Arms repertoire fits this too. Causing deep, mortal wounds that cause your opponent to bleed out, and of course there's Overpower. Also, in my mind, Bladestorm is much less a crazy spinning attack, but a series if lightning-quick strikes to every foe in the area.
I just -can't- bring myself to play Fury because of this. Tried it and it just didn't click for me.

Mage: Arcane. Because I always imagine my mage constantly studying ley lines, locii of power, magic artifacts, and being a book worm living in the library. He's the kind of guy constantly researching the paths to greater power.
Warrior: Arms. Seasoned soldier, veteran of many wars. He's a confident adversary. He's seen it all. Also: BLADESTOOOOOORM!!!
Death Knight: Unholy. It emphasises on the "death" part of death knight. Also I like having Rockgobbler do my bidding. He polishes my boots. With plague.
