The Daily Quest: Lemme give you some advice

WoW-related links from around the blogosphere.
I had the nicest conversation with a fellow rogue the other day, in which he asked about spec choices, legendaries, gemming and other tidbits. My server is on the low end of the population scale, so it's always nice to get the occasional random tells from people asking for advice. Oddly enough, I don't get a lot of it -- I don't know whether it's because our server is so quiet, or if it's because I'm in a raiding guild. I've found for some odd reason that people are nervous about randomly talking to people in raiding guilds, and I still have no idea why.
Speaking of advice, today we've got a few handy posts from around the blogosphere for your perusal.
- A Sunnier Bear gives us a nice guide on tanking heroic Zon'ozz in 10-man mode.
- Death Goddess has some good advice for getting into the guild of your dreams.
- Restokin offers some sound picks on choosing gear for a dual-spec resto-moonkin druid.

Well, in my experience raiding guilds tend to be full of elitist snobs that like to talk about how they are the elite crust of the game, and everybody not in a hardcore raiding guild is a casual n00b that needs to just stop ruining their one true way of playing the game with their bad.
Only takes running into a few of those types to make you instantly see any raiding guild as a Mos Eisley of assholes, and to stay far, far away from them at any cost.

I agree. I was also always nervous about talking to people in raiding guilds - when I plucked up the courage to apply to the top Horde raiding guild on my server, I expected it would be full of the snobbish, elitist type.
Instead, I was greeted with open arms, and got countless whispers over the next couple of days from guildies who wished to personally welcome me into the fold. I was so surprised.

I was just going to mention "attitude" and leave it at that, but YES!

And my reply was about Edy's comment, which pretty much nailed the jerkiness situation.
I've wished for a long time for a check box on the LFD/LFR saying "I do/do not want to join a guild run", but I'd much rather see one saying "I do/do not want to join a run containing a majority of raiders."

Sadly the most common experience with raiders is that of the snobbish jerk that thinks they are better than everyone else. After you see enough of these types most people begin to see all raiders as jerks; and sadly there are far too many raiders that are like this.

Pretty amazing that raiders represent only 5% of the playerbase, yet they act like they are the majority, they're in charge, and--rather amazingly--Blizzard seems to agree with them....
...Because most of the devs are or were raiders, going as far back as EQ.

Because most of them are wearing a turtle neck shirt or need to be circumsized.

On the other side of that, I've run into a lot of people who have NO problem harassing people in raiding guilds, despite being in the middle of a raid. Back when I was an officer in a raiding guild, I'd get tells in the middle of boss fights and they'd just keep whispering me until I'd give them the answer they wanted. It got pretty annoying at times.
When I'm not in a raid, yes, please contact me! When I'm raiding, please leave me alone D:

Sorry, but the "guild of my dreams" will not be one that requires me to fill out an application. This is a game for me, not a job. (Thank goodness for LFR.) But, to each their own.

I've had conversations like that, but for me it always happens when someone asks for a JC in trade and I answer and they're not sure what to get. I probably over explain though XD
