Yeah, Windows XP was pretty good, once you got hardware (and thus drivers) that was made for it, instead of trying to shoehorn it on hardware that's not optimal. Windows Me was terrible. I advised people to downgrade to 98 (or not 'upgrade') if they had an older PC, or to upgrade to 2000 if they had a newer PC.I don't think the drop of support for 2000 will be too bad. It can't be age, as any PC that can run WoW today can easily run XP. Since even that isn't sold anymore, techies who are holding on to 2k also have (unofficially) many Linux options available. There's still the concern of pseudo-DRM contained in windows XP and later. If the os thinks for any reason you're not a legitimate user, it can lock you out and disable your PC. Some don't like the idea of that, and I can't say I blame them.
