With all the panda jokes flying around, plenty of people are expressing some paranoia about Mists of Pandaria. It's way too early to tell whether those jokes are serious concerns or just the sort of knee-jerk hand-wringing that's common on official forums.
This is not the first time critics have freaked out about an upcoming expansion. Lagspike Films created this parody video to shout out to those folks who feel every expansion is the death of WoW. If every expansion is An Inconvenient Expansion, when can we finally be happy? Just remember, Cataclysm turned out all right. Mists will be awesome. Interested in the wide world of machinima? We have new movies every weekday here on WoW Moviewatch! Have suggestions for machinima we ought to feature? Toss us an email at moviewatch@wowinsider.com.
Every1 who is making panda jokes is off there rocker the pandairan where in lore about a shit ton of years before the gay ass panda movies even came out so learn ur lore befor u start making jokes u stupid kids
Burning Crusade: Stop a ginormous demon army. Wrath: Invade Northrend and put down Arthas. Cataclysm: Prevent the very apocalypse brought on by an insane dragon. Mists: Super Panda happy time!
I hope this simplifies why most of us find it underwhelming.
Burbank is totally right. I mean having Garrosh burn Theramore to the ground has absolutely no possibility of major conflict attached to it. Yep. All fun time pandas with no fighting going on at all in the future.
*prays that Theramore will get the Alliance to finally open their eyes about the goals of Garrosh (let alone Sylvanas) and go on the offensive*
If that prayer isn't answered then I completely withdraw my sarcastic response to Burbank, and can't see myself playing this game much longer.
Wrath of the Liche King: oh hey, it's Arthas, yet again. Hey buddy going to kill me this time? No. Okay then, seeya soon. Dude, yer brilliant plan is going to get you killed...
Cat: oh look, a big dragon. Hey, he's waiting until we attempt to fix things to actually try and finish the job he started a year ago. Do any of these guys understand the concept of just doing something?
A land of pastoral beauty becoming a battleground in someone else's war. The natives taking sides. Ancient temples destroyed, peaceful villages burned, rice paddies bombed by gnomish flying machines. Returning Alliance soldiers with thousand-yard-stares getting spit on in the streets of Stormwind. The slow, horrifying realization that this time around, WE'RE the great evil.
I think the whole Panda thing is lame too. Embarrassing in some ways. Embarrassing like admitting one plays Strawberry Shortcake Online or something. BUt, I'll still play the game. As long as I don't have to upgrade anything, that is. Having black and white Ewoks in the game will not ruin my play experience, I assure you.
But still, if anyone asks me I'll have to reply something like, "Yes, I play WoW but NO, I am not a damn Panda".
I dunno, the one part of MoP I'm looking forward to is being a drunk belligerent bear. (Then again, I play an armored belligerent bull for my main so...)
I have far more issues with the talent rebuild and pokemon parts.
Besides, the movie is technically right. Every expansion has irrevocably altered the game such that the game has basically become something different every expansion. MoP may be the largest shift to date, but it's not exactly out of character for the game.
You must understand. I Liked Pokemon as a kid. There are elements of it that I still like. I have issues with it being inserted into WoW. I am fully aware that I need not participate in it, anymore than I need to participate in raids/pvp/ah etc. But it will still be there as a mild irritant :) (note: mild, meaning I have an exceeding lack of irritation at the Pandaness of MoP_
The thing is it's an optional thing, if you don't want to play pokemon then you don't have to simply, just like you don't have to bother about Transmogrification or doing the New DMF. New stuff that's purely optional is always good in my opinion, no matter what it is because somebody somewhere will like it and everyone else, well it doesn't affect.

Mists: Putting the WAR back in World of Warcraft.
It's all about what you focus on.

Taking issue with the pokemon part?
If you don't use the pokemon part its like it isn't there.
In fact there is one big thing to like about the pokemon part. Lots of new pets to go and get your hands on.
If your not into that you more than likely won't ever have to do it.

Translation - WAAAA I know nothing of the expansion yet and feel the need to vent frustration due to my ignorance.

P. S. Very good video. I especially liked the "Run into burning house" bit. It was very smoothly done.

That had to be one of the funnier machinimas I've seen in a long time! Kudos to the authors!
