Honestly, I think just ditching Recount is one of the best things you can do for your in-game mental health. I run 5-mans and LFR, and the fact of the matter is, as long as the bosses are dying, it doesn't matter who's top of the heap on the charts.I understand that the competition of the DPS race is a motivator for a lot of people, but if you're there for the experience, the gear, and the story, I think you can safely toss it as I have, particularly if you're a healer or tank (as I am). I have a DPS as well, but it's a mix of 378/384 gear, so I know even at my best I'm only going to be in the middle of the chart. I say: Reject out recount, oust Omen and slay Skada!

I agree with your comment about Recount. I have a guildy who refuses to dps because she'd be at the bottom of the charts, and thinks she would be kicked out. (it has happened before), and I keep telling her that as long as stuff dies in a timely manner, we're fine.I would also say keep some sort of threat meter at the least though.

Skada also functions as a threat meter. I personally have it set to show my threat in combat and dps for last fight out of it.

No, I use recount not to see if I beat everyone. But to see if everyone is doing their job properly, especially me. I have a lot of alts and need to know if I'm doing things correctly. I tried turning it off for a while but had no idea if I was doing enough dps ('enough' as defined by me). There's been a number of times on certain toons where, if it wasn't for Recount, I would've never gone and read up on my priority 'rotation' or spec, and therefore never improve. On the other side, I also find it useful to know if someone is doing less than 8-9k in a new Twilight dungeon. This gimps the whole grp and shows that the person isn't trying at all. That said, spamming Recount in party chat unasked is a douchebag move.

You don't need Omen anymore. At all.

My question about damage meters is why Recount and Skada are always mentioned but Recap is skipped? I find that after grouping with another player of the same class, I'm able to compare their dps on each specific ability with mine. Using this I've been able to improve my own dps on my various alts. I've tried Recount because it was always the popular meter to use, but it just seemed clunky sending me back to Recap. Is there a reason that it's ignored? Is it a baby seal killer???
