The prevalence of getting one of the new HoT 5-mans when I pick 'random' is that I'm trying to queue up as tank - but my tanking gear isn't enough for the new 5-mans, but my dps gear is - I'd love to just run the old or z'again heroics for JP/VP, or am I stuck queuing as dps, wait a long time, then having to choose between being a jerk and rolling on tank gear, or passing on it half the time for an even slower gearup... :(

As more and more tanks get all the gear they need from the new 5 mans, they will start rolling greed on the tank gear that drops. At that point, there is absolutely nothing wrong with asking the group if you could roll need for your off-spec. When tank loot drops, just wait and see what the tank rolls. If he rolls need, let him have it. If he rolls greed, go ahead and ask if you can have it.Despite some of the horror stories, most groups are actually really cool about that stuff, as long as you ask.

I'll do ya one better. If the tank rolls greed, don't even ask. Just need on it.Wait to see, of course, but if everyone who's rolling need is doing it for off spec, it's still just as fair. The other 4 people will assume whatever they're going to whether you ask or not. Just do it I say!To be clear, the above applies ONLY if the tank doesn't need. Same goes for healing gear.

I completely agree with the suggestions.. I just also wanted to get more experience tanking the "easier " heroics on my warrior - I tank DS LFR on my pally, druid, and dk but for some reason war tanking seems like I am barely able to get through... :-)
