I think people forget this (I like to) but back in "the day", you used to only get rested if you were in a city/inn.As a new or leveling player, this delay was often a good reminder that you shouldn't be stopping there if you wanted to progress faster, and it posed a risk of dying as you loaded out or in. It also tended to bring people back to hubs. At least, that's what I remember of it and recall hearing from others at the time. Of course, it didn't matter to level-capped players, who logged out wherever they pleased, just like we all do now, lol.I'm not sure if they designed it with that in mind, but it worked then. I'm pretty sure the "not getting out of trouble free" idea was what they more intended, and why the delay still exists.
