Breakfast Topic: Which race has the best racial ability in the game?

Furthermore, different classes will benefit more from different racials than others. Tanks might prefer a dwarf's Stoneform, where DPS may favor a troll's Berserking. Would you prefer War Stomp or Every Man for Himself?
Someone who does a lot of work on gathering professions would probably absolutely love a goblin's Pack Hobgoblin, and some races have bonuses to specific professions, like gnomes do with engineering. (It's strange that despite their parallel engineering heritage, the goblin profession specialization is alchemy.)
So which race overall, do you think has the best racial? And as ever, why? And if you don't remember quite who has what, you can check all the racials here:
| Alliance | Horde |
| Draenei | Blood elf |
| Dwarf | Goblin |
| Gnome | Orc |
| Human | Tauren |
| Night elf | Troll |
| Worgen | Undead |
| Blood Elf | |
|---|---|
| Draenei | |
| Dwarf | |
| Gnome | |
| Goblin | |
| Human | |
| Night Elf | |
| Orc | |
| Tauren | |
| Troll | |
| Undead | |
| Worgen |

Diplomacy by far
Nick Jan 16th 2012 8:15AM
This 100000 times. Humans have Diplomacy and as such are OP in this competition. Not all my toons are Human, but I wish they all had less rep grinding to do.
John Robinson Jan 16th 2012 8:32AM
The problem with Diplomacy is you can reach a point in the game where it become completely worthless, apart from the beginnings of any patch with a new faction added. Whereas free Haste/Hit etc never goes out of style.

After trying once to gain Orc rep on a Blood Elf (back in early-ish BC when mounts were still at 40 and there weren't tabards) to get a wolf mount, and working on every single Horde quest in game for spillover rep, as well as turning in cloth as much as my poor lone, baby BE could, I'm never taking Diplomacy for granted again.

I agree with John to an extent, but with a qualification if you're an achievement junkie like me. Then being human never really goes out of style: I can't imagine how much time I've saved being human through all the rep grinds.
However, if your sole goal is say, end-game PvE, rolling a human to save a little time on rep grinds is pretty inconsequential.

People whine about Diplomacy all the time, and frankly, I'm sick of it. All it really amounts to is having to grind rep for a day or two less than other races do. But once you hit exalted, which never takes long, it's useless.
I would gladly give up diplomacy for a racial that actually does something, like the tauren war stomp and extra health, or the draenei's healing power or 1% hit racial.
Drahken Jan 16th 2012 10:57AM
@Big Shoe:
You're not an achievement junkie are you? Do you know how much time and money I spent on Darkmoon decks? How much time I spent killing Syndicate mobs for Ravenholdt rep? How much time I spent pickpocketing heavy junkboxes for the same? (On a rogue I created specifically for that task). The time end effort of getting Bloodsail rep to Honored, then getting all the Steamwheedle factions back to exalted? Finally, do you know how much of all that would have been saved with Diplomacy? Alot. And all that's just from Insane int eh Membrane. That's not even Ogri'la (weeks of dailies), Brood of Nozdormu (months of AQ), or Waterlords (months of MC). To those of us who care about that kind of thing, a 10% rep increase is unspeakably valuable.
(I just thank my lucky stars they took out Shendralar out of Insane.)

@Big Shoe like 3expertise for 2 different weapons, or 3% spirit for any caster who uses it?
Oh and um... free pvp trinket, that happens to have tons of uses in pve.
Frank-potato Jan 16th 2012 4:33PM
I voted Human, but honestly not for Diplomacy....Hands down most OP ability Every Man for Himself! The ability to have a PvP trinket outside of slots is just too much space to boost your deeps or survivability with other trinkets, additionally while all other races have to deal with a 5min. trinket in low level, humans maintain their 2 min. CD.

I am an achievement junkie and I still agree with John. I have 56 exalted reputations, with 2 of the Steamwheedle factions, Ravenholdt, and 2 PvP reps still to go. I did all the painful, painstaking rep grinds, and I can honestly say I would still not value the Diplomacy buff very much. I would have certainly got these rep grinds done faster, but the time investment to me was not a huge problem - if you are a true achievement junkie, you problem invest way more time into achievements than you should anyway =)
You reach a point where you have pretty much done every rep grind, and each new expansion offers a trivial number of new factions, with a million and one ways to grind the rep. I had no issues getting to exalted with the Cata reps, for example, with ease. I would much prefer a racial that never loses its value.
Big Shoe Jan 16th 2012 9:42PM
@Drahken: I'm not an achievement junkie by any means (I prefer to get whatever achievements come naturally during the course of play rather than chasing them down), but I am sitting at 11k achievement points and 56 exalted reputations, so I know how you feel when it comes to grinding rep.
And to the others who have posted here, I agree that some of the other human racials are terrific. But to me, Diplomacy has always been the least helpful of them, so I don't get why people complain the most about it.
Lars Petersson Jan 16th 2012 8:13AM
My bags tend to get pretty full, so I would love for all of my toons to have the goblin's racial ability...
Kira Jan 16th 2012 8:13AM
Hah, Humans win, no surprise there. Free trinket is good for everything!
eel5pe Jan 16th 2012 9:59AM
It's not all that useful in PvE though except on rare occasions. For example in all of DS the only time I can recall using it is on the first full trash pulls that do that AoE stun.
Probably one of the best PvP racials though.
Kira Jan 16th 2012 10:33AM
I guess I'm just a little OCD about debuffs, I like my easy button.
clundgren Jan 16th 2012 12:10PM
It's damn handy in PvE, but by FAR the best in PvP.
No other racial scales with gear.
Mitawa Jan 16th 2012 8:16AM
As with the "which race looks the best" question, I believe male and female worgen should be in different categories.
Running wild is absolutely badass in male worgen and looks...wierd and dirty... on females.
sckeener Jan 16th 2012 9:07AM
I think you just gave us a glimpse into your mind. ;)
Mitawa Jan 16th 2012 9:27AM
Well, I guess when they're just standing there, it just looks awkward, it's the "Mount Spacial" animation that I really object to.
I cringe and walk away. o_o
