Peroth'arn surveyed the large circular area outside the palace, arms folded and a furrowed brow on his face. The portal leading up to the palace had been disabled, yet the ones on the left and right remained. He looked down the steps, as demons marched across the courtyard in opposite directions and into their respective portals, surprised but not concerned until the next thing that happened.
There was a crack in the wall, before lava spurted forth and began to flood the courtyard. As the lava, unmatched in heat and fury, spread across to the crystals and undernearth the feet of the marching demons, the portal controls exploded and the last of the demons dashed into the portals, desperate to avoid the inferno beneath their heels. Peroth'arn gazed at the crack, before chuckling. It had been a dull day.
There was a flash of light from above, and four large stone platforms dropped into the lava pool as it ceased to fill any further, reaching as high up the stairs as Peroth'arn chose to stand. The light subsided and a figure was visible, yet transparent, knelt on the furthest stone. With both intrigue and irritation, Peroth'arn leapt from the stairs and onto the nearest stone. The echo of Baine stood and looked around sagely, before locking eyes with the satyr.
"I have failed my people. My ancestors may not rest because of my actions, but I shall honour their memory. This destruction, this heat...it can only be your fault!" Baine roared, raising his axe. The satyr chuckled.
"Such fantasy and deception is amusing, but it cannot go unpunished. Prepare to die!" Peroth'arn laughed, running and leaping to the second stone, before making the final leap onto Baine's platform and engaging him in combat. The Tauren's axe swung into Peroth'arn's corrupted flesh, causing him to scream in agony, slashing back and slowly corrupting the echo. Baine struck harder with every blow, his rage unrelenting, but with every hit Pero'tharn corrupted him further, and further, tainting his spirit.
"Whoever you let down, whoever you lost...you're going to fail as miserably as they did!" Peroth'arn cackled, casting an incantation and causing a fireball, constructed from fel magic and dangerous flame, to land directly on Baine, burning at the apparition's form. Baine howled in rage, raising his axe high and smashing down towards Peroth'arn, who stepped backwards nimbly. The axe struck the stone and the platform beneath them both disappeared into the lava. Hissing, Peroth'arn endured the heat and swiftly leapt onto another platform, turning to face where Baine had stood: there was nothing. He looked at his claws, which were red with heat, looking back up with only a moment to spare before the totem hit him in the face.
"Cheap trick!" the satyr groaned, climbing to his feet as the ferocious apparition clomped out of the lava, continuing his assault. His axe was red with molten fury, and one hit was enough to tell Peroth'arn that unless he did something, his minutes were numbered.
"DIE!" Baine roared, bringing the axe towards the satyr - but suddenly ceasing his attack. Fel magic raised him into the air above Peroth'arn, slowly draining him of his life. He gasped for air, slowly losing his grip on his weapon. Peroth'arn grinned wickedly. This would soon be over. Baine let out an exhausted gasp as his hand unclenched, dropping the molten hot axe onto Peroth'arn's foot, breaking his concentration and releasing Baine. Baine recovered his axe as the satyr faded into nothing. "SHOW YOURSELF, COWARD!"
"As you wish..." Peroth'arn cackled, as his demonic eyes descended upon the platform, spotting Baine with ease thanks to his glowing axe. One was enough to stun him as the satyr reappeared from nowhere, with glowing claws from a possible dash in the lava attacking with a rejuvenated frenzy from the hunt. When Baine finally caught his balance, he raised his now-dull axe and took another swing at Peroth'arn, both of them suffering from the fight. The satyr roared before going into an Endless Frenzy, attacking swiftly and many times between each of Baine's attacks.
"No! My ancestors!" Baine screamed, throwing a totem at Peroth'arn, temporarily dazing him. "They-"
"-will be receiving a new visitor!" Peroth'arn cackled, throwing the totem at Baine and charging him, clawing fiercely and delivering the coup de grace. The Tauren fell backwards into the lava, defeated.
Peroth'arn cackled to himself, standing victorious on the rock and looking up into the sky with a smirk. He then turned his attention to the lava and the stones in the courtyard.
"I'm not cleaning this up..." he coughed, before disappearing once more.
